Yeah I think so but I still don't know why he was there. Obi-Wan's fleet wasn't over Florrum yet. I think Grievous left the space battle and went to Florrum after.
@@MichaelJaeYTisnt coincidential, you its the logical decision for grievous, he took down the sector fleet of that sector so he could invade florum without major problems
@@MichaelJaeYTI assumed that Grievous was on his way to Florrum but noticed that Kenobi’s fleet was nearby and didn’t want to miss an opportunity to kill him.
2 things of note. 1: Grievous coming in was both pure coincidence and strategic. Grievous was on his way to Florrum to give Dooku his revenge against Hondo, Obi-wan was just nearby and had to be delt with. The ambush strategy they use was becoming more and more prevalent in the later years of the war. 2: Obi-wan leaving the message behind is pure Obi-wan sas. He knew Greivous would head to the bridge and thus gave him a warning in the form of mockery.
@@MichaelJaeYTok theory kenobi is currently travelling post a unseen battle could explain why so many non 212th troopers were there this was a pick up after a battle. Similarly could explain how they lost so fast these were a bunch of clones who are more used for pick up and transport and the remains of the 212th after a tiring battle (maybe grievous is back up called in because of the unseen battle and runs into kenobis ship whilst heading to the planned Kenobi and the 212th are leaving) Yes it’s a bit of a stretch as we aren’t given loads of things pointing towards this idea, but it kind of works and is believable
Also, Obi-Wan could not have reasonably expected that Grievous would actually make it out in time. Those ships are MASSIVE, and Grievous had to RUN all the way from the bridge back down to the hangar (although it's possible he took a short cut and just jumped out the window of the bridge down to the hangar since we don't see him leave through the door). Regardless, GG only managed to get out at literally the last possible moment. This is one of the few times the Force was on his side, lol.
Just pointing out that if Kenobi did not leave the message on the bridge, grievous would have died and obi wan would have stayed on corasont during episode three, and probably would have prevented order 66. So if obi wan had decided not to be sassy that day it would have saved the galaxy
Nah, Grievous probably wouldn't have died there. R2-D2 managed to survive a MUCH bigger explosion from a Star Destroyer-turned-bomb, and he was much closer to the center of the blast. Grievous is a hell of a lot more durable than R2. If you look at how the ship self-destructs here, the bridge doesn't even blow up directly, meaning all those thousands tons of space-age metal would absorb pretty much all of the shock from the blast before it ever reaches Grievous. And while he would get sucked out into space, we already know that he can survive in vacuum for at least long enough that he could call in a Vulture to pick him up. It would rattle him, but he'd live. Also, Order 66 was pretty much going to happen no matter what once the Clone Wars really got rolling. Palpatine just had too many of the cards up his sleeves. Frankly, the route he took in Revenge of the Sith was way riskier than it needed to be, just because he wanted Anakin on his side.
7:04 At this moment, if you see the clone behind Obi Wan, you will see a clone Trooper carrying a DC-17, a clone commander's weapon. Few people saw this detail.
I personally thought the DC-17 was just the standard issue side arm for Republic troops. Cutup and I think Echo also had DC-17's after escaping the Commando droids via the vents just before Cutup would meet the Local Giant Rishi Eel...very up close 😅 Edit: Oh wait I see now, you meant commando lol sorry. Yeah I never noticed that before, then again I guess the DC-17m is just a regular 17 with a Carbine attachement so maybe they had some lying around and the trooper just grabbed it quickly to assist in the fight.
You are underrating Grievous SO MUCH. He is THE BEST duelist of all star wars era or has the potential to be the one. Plus, he is incredible smart. He is a war hero, a demi god for his people and the one who make the CIS nearly win
Every Obi Wan and Grievous fight: Grievous wins the lightsaber duel and starts monologuing for no reason Obi Wan finds an opportunity to force push Grievous runs away for no reason when he could keep fighting
Love the how consistent the 212th (and the entire 7th) are. They see an enemy combatant made of metal, first instinct: punch, kick, tackle, or jump on top of it. What if it has a lightsaber? Doesn’t matter, it’s time to box a droid.
Great video. I totally forgot about this battle b/t Kenobi & Grevious. Too bad Kenobi warned Grevious the ship was set to self-destruct. Jedi softness and compassion has caused more troopers to lose their lives.
3:59 Just because he doesn't have markings doesn't mean he isn't part of the 212th (or at least part of the 7th). Most clone units have some plain shiny clones in their ranks, either as rookies to the unit or clones who just haven't yet gotten around to getting their armor painted.
I'm right there with you on being annoyed that Obi-Wan warned Grevious that the ship was about to self-destruct. I get that Grevious can't actually die until episode 3, but tactically, in-universe, it makes no sense haha
It could've been a tactical droid detecting it and warning him or something like that instead I wish there were more cat and mouse scenarios showing each sides intelligence rather than their incompetence like we often got
It was a cool fight but I always hated how all of the 212th troopers were plain instead of having orange markings. At this point in the timeline I can’t imagine the entire 212th legion is still wearing unmarked armor
Btw the Z-95 headhunter was created pre clone wars for sector defense groups though the republic used a modified version compared to the regular sector defense(due to all the possible mods they had)
Idk if you meant it, but Kenobi and his fleet were not actually in the Florrum system. They were somewhere else far away, and never made the jump to hyperspace.
Probably one thing i never quite got was the inhuman reaction speed General grievous has when arriving out of hyperspace to order his gunner crew to open fire. I get that they are all droids but grievous is still a cyborg, he would have a more human like reaction speed for the amount of information his mimd would need to process the moment your able to see something as well as have the cognitive ability to speak miliseconds after you barely had time to see what your looking at when ordering his crew and fleet to open fire. Granted with lightspeed in star wars there is a brief second or two that you can see whats around you before the opposite group can see you im return. The closest comparison i could ever imagine finding to this would be peekers advantage in online video games as its a simular concept i guess, as most times the person with the better monitor or internet download speed will seemingly see and shoot you before you see them pop around the corner of an object. But idk what do you think?.
If i remember correctly, Grievous' nerve are made in Crystal . I don't remember where i found this informations, that was like.... 6-7 years ago and i don't even know if it's still canon, but that's why he can think much faster than everyone and deal with Jedi. But, if he knew that Kenobi was here, he could have said to his droids to open fire immediatly after the hyperspace jump
The simplest explanation is that Grievous was expecting a fight and ambushed Kenobi with the guns already prepared. GG would know that Florrum was in Republic-occupied territory, and would reasonably expect there to be a fleet to guard the system. It wasn't a blind encounter, it was an ambush. Which is part of why the Seps so thoroughly thrashed Obi-Wan's forces. Either way, Grievous absolutely does NOT have normal human reaction times. It's been stated a couple of times that his brain was enhanced with computers that not only allowed him to control his cybernetics, but also think and react and speeds exceeding all but the best of the Jedi. And we see that reaction speed come into play A LOT; the handful of times he deflected blaster bolts, the time in the Crystal Crisis episodes where he back-flipped over a beam from the giant Kyber Crystal, and the mere fact that he can keep up with and overwhelm high tier Jedi.
3:03 something similar happened in Clone Wars the movie 3:17 at this point in the show it could be either reiused model or a model after few changes. I would be in great shock if they had made new one just for this battle

G'day You know what I don't get, we see at the beginning of the naval battle a small C-70 Charger frigate & Arquitens class light cruiser push forwards to screen the fighters & shoot down confederate ships yet in the next scene the C70 has catastrophic damage while still flying? but the light cruiser as it passes the confederate light destroyer (why WHY do SW naval classifications make no sense WHY????, how is a light destroyer larger than a light cruiser???) it seems to have also taken catastrophic damage but to the point it's a burning hulk drifting through space. Meanwhile in the sad scene of the cartwheeling bomber into the main Republic flagships (Venator class cruiser/destroyer) it's the gunner that's dragged out & brought inside the pressurised hangar, we later see them lying down next to the soldier manning the sentry gun (you can tell by the tubing around their helmet, Somehow he survives all that yet gets left behind).
