omg, this is SUCH as biased video. I have had leather leashes that snapped during constantly hot climates, and some that has given me a bad burn when I was training my puppy. It doesn't matter what type of 'leather' or 'synthetic' collar, nylon is the most favourable in water. Not all nylons are crap, my Husky has the K9 explorer one with STEEL clasps and it has lasted longer than her leather collar. So it depends on your dog's activity, my dogs are constantly in water so obviously I wouldn't put a leather collar on them all summer long, only during the winter. My Golden is on a gentle leader and it's the best option for him, i'm not DRAGGING his muzzle in ANY way. I've been through so many trainers that are all salesmen and very biased on the tools they tell me use. KNOW THY DOG. Whatever collar, leash or training tool you use needs to be compatible with YOUR dog. Not the trainers dog, or the GUYS IN THE VIDEO's dog, but YOUR dog.
Felt like you were trying to promote your own products, its easy to find a fault in anything if you look hard enough for it. I think this is a very negative video.
Well I use retractable leash and I love it and my Doberman doesn't opposed to it one bit. You are overestimating the pull of the that leash. Also you can leave it 6ft and lock it and you have a regular leash in that case. This video is not useful. Good luck
Leash dosnt matter except for the retract I agreee, but seriously the gentle leader? That collar is really good, it controls the mouth and the point of the dog, plus its only for walks and training, my gsd is in training because its a teething puppy, whenever it bites or pulls or barks, you pull straight up so it closes the mouth and stops its action, better than a choke collar(I used those too) also it dossnt hurt since its loose unless it pulls or does an unwanted action, and when you pull up, it closes the mouth but depending on your dog, you can choose how closed tightly you want it but ussually I do it until she sits and gives me submissive eye contact. Aslo the leather leashes dont make a difference, it hurts more because it grips you and when it pulls it hurts more, also its heavier that nylon unless its fake. Please stop trying to make people spend more money.
Tbfh your just ruining it for most businesses and i use a flexi leash and nothing happens they walk right next to me i used a leather leash it and when my dog pulled it gave me a burn
It is great to see a product evaluation video for common pet products because there are many that aren't as good as people assume and many popular pet products manufacturers who are not knowledgeable about dog needs and anatomy, or don't care about dog welfare, only profit & popular appeal. That said, there is a lot of BS in this video, assumptions with no evidence to back it up about both products& dog behaviour... I don't buy it. Would like to see a better video of same kind, from a different and less biased source
Nylon dog collars don't ever stink up, all my dog have used them, and they also never broke away under stress, the clip never wore out, and they never fell apart. My dog used the same one for his whole life. Perhaps it broke away one time, but it was once when he had gotten stuck and it broke off. I personally think that one that can break away under to much pressure is better for the dog however I am not a dog trainer. I do also think that this video is a bit biased with how they promote the product and saying that all the other collar types are fluey.
Wide leather studded collars are the best, far superior to any kind of nylon collar. A properly taken care of leather collar will last year's, even if your dog swims regularly, are easy to clean, natural so dogs won't have an allergic reaction to it and most importantly, it is very difficult for another dog to get their teeth caught in your dog's collar which is a serious danger and biggest drawback of nylon collar's and will result in the death of your dog by strangulation, a wide collar makes it more difficult for the collar to twist and with the studs it is more difficult for another dog to get a good grip on your dog's neck in the case of an attack. I would *never* put nylon around my dog's neck.
Gentle Leaders or Halti Headcollars which is basically a gentle leader but with padding and an extra clip that attaches to your dogs collar are a LIFE SAVER if your dog pulls or lunges. I use and recommend a Halti Headcollar if your dog pulls. I have a 4 year old pit bull mix that lunges whenever she sees a squirrel or a fast moving object and having the Halti has literally changed my life and helps calm her down and gives my complete control of her.
Go for leather collars and leashes(Get thick ones strengthened with rivets). Current leash is around 10-15 years old and hasn't developed a rip. Current leather collar with metal attachments is 5-7 years old and hasn't fallen apart.
Because there are so many different leashes to choose from, it can be difficult to make the right choice - especially if you don’t know what to look for. swankypet.net/
geltel leader is good but u musht teach you dog from day 1 u buy it to be next to you and not to pull .. i used it for 3 months and it help ... exspecialy for old people ..

Completely agree with you. Exactly you can just leave it at 6 feet and lock it... he’s just promoting his own shit smh
Ok 👍

Mate, i use a standard cotton leash and a leather collar, my dogs fine
Tbfh your just ruining it for most businesses and i use a flexi leash and nothing happens they walk right next to me i used a leather leash it and when my dog pulled it gave me a burn
But ur goal is for your dog to walk on a loose leash. If ur too lazy to train ur dog, don’t get one.
Is it ever too late to train your dog
I personally don't think so, some dogs may be more complicated than others but never say an old dog can't learn new tricks.
Never too late!

Wait so should I get a leather dog collar or not? 🙄
