The short presenter, Richard Hammond, survived the fastest crash in history in a rocket fuelled car. His crashes are legendary and it's amazing he is still alive.
His autobiography that covers that period is very interesting.
It was fast but it was a long way from being the fastest in history. The fastest has a Guinness world record and was over twice the speed.
@@Sossingro Fastest crash, not fastest speed.
@@carokat1111 Yes exactly, the fastest crash that was survived was by Art Arfons.
@@Sossingro correct, and it wasn't rocket powered either, it used a small jet engine.
The best show ever to hit the BBC until Jeremy hit the producer 😂😂😂
its said he intentionally wound jeremy up during a particularly trying family crisis but i guess we will never know the truth
either way he went on to sign a 28m+ contract with prime among others... best punch he ever landed
It wasn’t the 1st time he did this but rather 3rd time lucky I guess as leaving the BBC brought some amazing shows with Amazon.
I think any assault should be dealt with as the beeb did
Even tho they did nothing for Saville
They only sacked him as they had to
@@-M0LE people dont learn if they arent attacked
It was originally a car show that over time developed into 3 friends having fun, playing tricks on each other, travelling the world offending people and occasionally reviewing a car. Without doubt the greatest show.
I'm no car guy but I've seen every episode of this show multiple times. The boys are smart and fun and clever. Also, not comedians - they're all journalists/writers
Likewise, i know absolutely nothing about cars but i always watched Top Gear and now The Grand Tour... Their adventures are epic
A lot of presenters have to write their own scripts. So chances are when you hear a presenter say something or read it off an autocue. They wrote it themself.
Everything I know about cars, I learned from Top Gear.
Me as well; forgot that the Hamster went in so hard on the Mexicans tho.
@@traceythompson1092 His punishment later was to go to Mexico alone after the fallout
Bringing the Australian presenters in a prison van was because Britain used Australia as a penal colony. Many convicts were sent there in the late 18th and 19th century.
America was also penal colony and were we dumped the weirdo commies and religious nuts hence pilgrim fathers and all men created equal and life liberty and pursuit of happiness lol
@@redrb26dett Half right, The prison colony was principally Georgia, and to a lesser degree Carolina (Which is fair i think to say, it shows...). The Religious elements voluntarily settled.
@@tisFrancesfault Back in the day if you were late on a debt payment you could be tossed into debtors prison. They were only criminals in the loosest sense of the word.
@@readhistory2023 back in the day debtors had to pay ,the only way out to a penal colony was to become a bonded servant (slave) and your master would pay your release(your debts) and fare as for the religious zealots they where encouraged with the carrot and stick (ie religious freedom in the colonies or victimization in Britain eg look how Britain treats the Catholics) fyi right or wrong it’s just history from which we learn or are doomed to repeat
@@tisFrancesfault they sent prisoners to bolster the colonies with incentives for the convicts same as Australia (not all a penal colony just certain parts ie where sane people refused to settle and a cheap source of labour) for minor offenses you could either do the time, join the army, join the navy not good prospects or do your sentence in the colonies with reduced time (later changed for the Australian colonies) and no freedom fighters or traitors or dangerous criminals where sent they where executed out of sane governance ie US terrorists/traitors get executed same as murders you don’t send them to minimum security prisons
You have to react to "TopGear: Run out of Alabama!" best episode ever.
Good idea! Check out the specials, they are the best! There is a good one when they are in Iraq during the war...
Disagree, hammond stranded in Canada was more hilarious than that, and even hammond in the episode called out about ppl that complain over nonsense by shoving it up thier own arses. Very true and very funny.
He said (while hacking down a tree) "If you feel the need to write to the BBC, about how this is some special type of tree that has to be preserved... You can shove it up your own arse!"
Most of that was staged.
I live in TN so I feel some of that was staged. I do believe the Argentina episode was real.
The specials are always the best. I still go OLIVER!!! when they show that car.

3 mates with an almost unlimited budget having the time of their lives. They managed 20+ Series on the BBC before moving to Amazon. Jeremy is loved by many in the UK & he is hated by many, he speaks his mind & helped it to be 1 of the best shows ever made.

The old Top Gear was the best, it was also the most influential car show in the world, when they said something bad about a car, then the sales went down! 😁👌🏼✌🏼

Believe it or not Top Gear was the most watched TV show on earth for many years, as it was shown in many countries around the world. It is extremely entertaining.
The funny thing is this show was on BBC which is the British government owned tv channel. The people running the BBC wanted to get rid of them in the worse way, because they were not politically correct, but the show was such a cash cow they couldn't afford it, until one day Jeremy and a network producer got into a fight. The 3 moved on and now have essentially the same show on Amazon TV called The Grand Tour.
The BBC isn't owned by the British government, it's a corporation and is its own entity, however they are the only TV station in Britain that is publicly funded by a 'TV licence'. They basically have permission from the government to enforce this, which is an increasingly contentious subject in Britain, especially given the rise in popularity of online streaming services. The TV licence is seen as unnecessary, archaic and outdated nowadays and more and more people are refusing to pay it.
However, because the government have the power to remove the BBCs right to enforce the licence at any time (and often threaten to do so) the BBC do tend to be very.....favourable towards the current right-wing government (despite the BBCs claims that they always remain 100% impartial). They are often accused of pandering to the Conservative party and ignoring anything nasty they may have done and just not reporting any of it on the news, whilst at the same time being overly critical of the opposition party to diminish their appeal, and essentially being a propaganda channel for the Conservative party.
The BBC aren't as liked as they used to be in this country.
Also, the quality of their programmes have gone right down the toilet. See the 'new' Top Gear as an example. It's utter crap!
Best show in history of TV. The Grand Tour is the new Amazon version with Clarkson, May and Hammond and an equal treasure with the same show formats
For copyright reasons, they're similar formats, not the same, of course.

Top Gear is one of my favorite shows of all time
Great tv series, 2002 till 2016 with Clarkson.
The thing about the original Top Gear cast is that even though some of their jokes could be considered as 'offensive', they were never meant with malice intent and were really just tongue in cheek pushed to the limit. You hit the nail on the head when you said that everyone got it, not just one nation or whatnot. Everyone got it, including the British! Top Gear was never the same after they had to leave but The Grand Tour is very enjoyable and funny as well!
LOVED the original Top Gear. Forgot why it was taken off but know for sure Jeremy refused to apologize for something he said. Sad to see it go but glad he had the balls to stand up to them.
He hit a BBC producer who didn't want them to go to lunch.
I used to love this show.
This was such a great series. Loved Stigg.
Three middle aged blokes engaging in banter; taking the mickey out of each other, anyone or anything else, interspersed with some cars. It ended up being one of the most popular shows on British television.
You've been 'Clarksoned'!
Surprised you have never heard of Top Gear. The new show is on Amazon TV and is called The Grand Tour. The show is brilliant. Also on Amazon is Jeremy’s farm. You HAVE to listen to the person called Gerald.
I would literally pay a subscription to watch a reaction video to Clarksons Farm 😂
I think he needs to watch TG and the Grand Tour to really understand Clarkson before he watches Clarksons Farm.
Top Gear was never that popular in the US so it's not that surprising someone his age hadn't heard of it. I'm only aware of it because 60 Minutes did a profile on them so I watched some of their clips on UA-cam.
@@kevinbrown-ge6sz british top gear did better than American top gear in the USA and was quite popular
@@samuelpinder1215 That's simply not true. Neither version was ever popular in the US. One of the reasons they filmed in the US on multiple occasions is because they didn't get bothered because nobody knew who they were.
My son is 13 and loves the show, so we regularly watch the specials with him. The rude humor isn’t for everyone, but we enjoy it. 🤣
Forgotten how entertaining this show was...Super reaction 😅
They tried to make a USA version with Americans commenting on the cars. The car manufactures didn't appreciate the host talking s*** about their cars, so the series was cancelled. Top Gear was originally shown on the BBC, which is an ad-free station, so the British hosts were able to be brutal.
Not entirely true. They got in trouble with the BBC for being critical of a British car manufacturer and from then on they were only complimentary of British made cars.
One thing that noone else has pointed out is that Top Gear is a show that tests & reviews cars. Jeremy Clarkson, James May & Richard Hammond take the seriousness out of the show by taking the piss out of each other and the rest of the planet which is highly entertaining & is the reason for the shows long success. The waiting list to be a member of the studio audience was about 5 years. Also, welcome to the world of British TV where censorship is, in itself censored. Strange that the land of freedom & free speech (the USA) has so much filtering on it's TV.
This was my favorite show ever. When Jeremy got fired, I stopped watching. Now I watch The Grand Tour. Those three guys made that show. I love that it was offensive, that’s part of its humor.
Bro I’m so jealous this is your first experience of Top Gear because you have so much great tv ahead of you to watch. These guys are best mates who love picking on each other and then you throw in the brilliant cars, concepts, challenges and the different countries they do and it’s fantastic. My personal favorites are the Vietnam, Botswana and Patagonia Specials. But the best ever Top Gear Special in my opinion is the Bolivia Special cause it’s some of the best TV you will watch. Enjoy mate!
The era when people could actually speak freely about anything.
Good old days without the cancerous SJWs and PC stuff.
The most successful show ever made by the BBC, sold in almost every country in the world and imho one of the best shows ever made.
Laughs.
Pauses.
"Wait, I should not be laughing at this."
Yep, that about sums up Top Gear.
You hit the nail on the head….The first thing to know about Jeremy Clarkson….He has NO filter! 🤣🤣
I always loved this show. I loved their races-especially when they had to limp old cars, that they individually chose, to their destination. I remember one show when they had to create limos that they could then drive on the road and make them as long as possible-something like that anyway! Lots of stuff they couldn't get away with now but back in the day they somehow got away with it!

The funny thing is, that irl. Mr C. Is a really, polite and patient. In his presenter mode, he always has used clever sarcasm, outrageous metaphors, exaggerated national stereotypes, (which I believe the subjects of stereotypes find them quite amusing too, because we all know a fellow countryman that ticks many of the boxes)and irony etc. He gets away with it most of the time, but also is wealthy, famous, admired, respected and thought of as the sort of chap you can take out for a pub crawl, or to the opera!
If we all take ownership of misconceptions about their nationality, racial slurs included, they would totally cease to be weaponised.
We Brits. are famous for owning our stereotypes, cos we know it has a smattering of truth. It is almost impossible to racially offend a Brit, as we laugh at ourselves, and enjoy the show.
The Clarkson, May, and Hammond Era of Top Gear was between 2002 and 2015.
It's a great series going back to 2003 and you can binge watch it all on Netflix. It is about cars but it's really about these three guys and their friendship over the years.
Top Gear with Clarkson, Hammond and May was absolutely brilliant. Really funny stuff going on. Take a look at the specials. There's a few. All good.
On Top Gear, Jeremy was still kept somewhat in check because it was produced by a semi government broadcasting service, you should watch their new shows made by and for Amazon Prime after Jeremy got fired from the BBC for attacking someone over food.. The new shows is called Grand Tour and Clarksons Farm and Amazon isn’t restricting them at all, At All!! It’s hilarious to watch
These are older clips, but Jeremy would pretty say all of this today! He has been on Top Gear since 1988, although the show back then was a more consumer based car show, with standard reviews of cars & road issues, you can see them on YT.
Clarkson has no filter. He eventually got sacked for assaulting the producer
He's a racist, homophobic, misogynist who got fired for being a POS.
@@sean-ew2qv No,he got fired for hitting someone, silly.
These guys are still going like this on the Grand Tour to this day so from 2001-Present and they are not ever going to get cancelled because people love them
Top gear is easily the best motoring show on earth. So glad you reacted to them and hope you'll do more in the future!
You messed up. It's the best motoring show ... in the world
loved the show when they were presenting it
These guys are hilarious and if anyone takes offence then they really need to give their head a wobble! Classic British humour 😂
Far from being offensive, it's an example of a concept that entertains and translates globally. Top Gear is pretty much the BBC's most financially successful show ever. Sold globally as a series and a concept. They did a Christmas episode a few years ago now where they decided to drive across the Middle East like the 3 Wise Men visiting the Baby Jesus. They were recognised by guys all along the way who loved the show. It's all deliberate buffoonery that only really upsets people with very little sense of the absurd who look to be offended by anything tongue in cheek. There are versions of this show made everywhere from Russia to Australia to China, all with a local humour and flavour. Top Gear started actually as a serious gearhead type show in the 70s and evolved into a basic comedic type adventure format that took it mainstream in the early 2000s. I have zero interest in cars and I LOVED it because they just use cars and vehicles to entertain and take the piss out of themselves, everyone and everything. A lot of episodes have a huge travelogue aspect that is really interesting. People who take Clarkson's performance seriously are the real joke!
It's not really too out there to believe that Jeremy Clarkson can be a complete and utter prat and say stuff deliberately to upset people. I don't quite understand how people defend everything he says as if he's some kind of God.
The charm of Top Gear is those 3 hosts. I don't care at all about cars, but i watched someof Top Gear because of them
These clips were all from shows recorded between 2002 and 2014, when Jeremy's contract wasn't renewed aft5er he punched a director or something. Hammond and May also left the show when this happened, and it's taken until recent seasons of the show for the BBC to get another funny team together. As stated elsewhere in the comments, they all went to Amazon to make The Grand Tour.
These are old clips but they are still the same now with their new show the Grand Tour, they really don't care and I love it.
Even now these 3 have no filter, they just dont give a fuck. Their fame is greater than anything! If you havent started watching top gear you have 22 seasons of pure laughter to enjoy
They did jokes about my country and I wasn't offended, I was laughing my lungs out, because it was so much on point! I think everyone with a sense of humour will laugh, and those who were offended, I'm very sorry for you)
Unfortunately they no longer present the show due to an incident at a hotel where Jeremy hit a producer
Jeremy actually started his career as a newspaper journalist, Richard Hammond was a radio DJ and I think James May used to work at a motoring magazine
I thought James May started his career as model in a motorcycle magazine
@@robertphelps1574 oh god, I tried to erase the memory of those images from my mind 😂
Most of these clips are from 2000-2010. If you want to watch them, they are now "the grand tour" on amazon prime and Jeremy Clarkson has his show about his farm. Both very good. Highly recommend them
Top Gear, Cars and unfiltered banter. A good show from a different more simpler time.
Will forever be my favourite show of all time. Grand Tour is good, (the follow up to Top Gear, same cast but on Amazon Prime)… but it never really hit the same.
what makes this even funnier is that this was on the woke BBC @ 8PM every Sunday night :D fucking brilliant
That was fun!
The trio was always fair with its mockery. There were no sacred cows. It even mocked the Morris Marina, which was British. By having a piano dropped on its roof.
He's a proper bloke, doesn't give a fcuk, my kinda guy, some of the shows, if not all are a must, wait till you meet THE STIG, keep em coming kidda, County Durham.
The guy with no filter is Jeremy Clarkson, he is well known for always getting in trouble and having no filter. He is a proper class act. He eventually got kicked off top gear for punching the producer 🤣 They all left and got a big deal with Amazon and started The Grand Tour.
Top gear with the OG three is the greatest show ever, three friends driving cars and talking shit across the globe.

My favourite show. The challenge’s they do is hilarious. Thank u for reacting to this ❤️
the thing is.. its not frowned upon.. until its frowned upon.. times change, views and acceptability change.. my grandparents used to sing that eeni-meeni-mini-mo tune, with no ill intent.. its just what they learned and it stuck, without really any thought for the actual implications for the words used. anyway, this show was a light in the dark for anti-pc even back then! its just not the same with the new zero humour hosts..
You should watch their specials.
They drive to the North Pole.
Bolivia. Argentina (caused an international incident). India (got an official complaint). Botswana and others. All very funny.
I was amazed that you'd never heard of Top Gear. Clarkson, Hammond and May are brilliant.
Jeremy also has a farm and has turned his learning to farm experience into a top rating program.
It's a genuine farm he bought years ago but the farm manager left and he decided to run the farm himself with the assistance and advice of Kaleb Cooper.
Farmers are amongst his most appreciative viewers.
It's also very funny.
You really should watch Clarkson's Farm as well. I can't praise it enough.
I like the approach of 'Well we take the piss out of everyone, so if we aren't taking the piss outta you then strictly speaking we aren't treating you equally now are we!?' *Not* joking about someone is where the inequality lies..
You touched on a couple of important points of why shows like Top Gear worked. 1. Everyone knows it's just for laughs. It's comedy. 2. They aren't targeting specific groups, they are being offensive to everyone. And it sort of was the point of the show. You wanted to hear Jeremy completely trash a car when it deserved it. Another thing I personally believe is import is that people used to be more aware that the person they see on TV is just a character. It's not reality, it's a TV show. Even Jeremy, James and Richard are in character while doing Top Gear. They portray a certain persona because it works for the show. If American History X came out today I'm sure they would cancel Edward Norton because he had a swastika on his chest in the movie...
There is a must watch scene in alabama about trying to get eachother shot
For a long time, Top Gear was the most watched show in the world with +300million global viewers an episode.
Popular shows don't tend to reach over 30million typically, with the majority being far lower.
Top Gear is a show with longer history, but this trio led it between 2002 and 2015. Most of those clips would be from between 2008 and 2015.
Yo top gear UK was one of the best series hands down! 22 seasons with Jeremy clarkson and the crew, all with some form of holiday or season special. Love the original Top Gear. Jeremy, James & Richard are just magic together.
These guys could probably make a show about refrigerators, and it still would be hilarious. They play off each other so well, with Jeremy being the big old idiot, Hamster being the the young guy who always has to prove himself, and James, well, being British. And indeed, everyone is a target (including very much the British themselves), but it's not like the entire show was about insulting everyone. Most of it was just showing those three doing stupid things. The kind of stupid things we all would love to do when given the chance.
