Bella Shawol It's really unfortunate because if Jessica had put more work into her vocals she would have had as good technique as Taeyeon. Taeyeon put 100% into her voice, and the work shows. Her improvement is amazing, whereas Jessica has improved this past decade but not by much. I think a good example of vocalists you wouldn't expect to be as good as the other is Wheein and Solar in Mamamoo. A lot of people get surprised that they have around the same level of technique because Wheein rarely belts or sounds quiet next to Solar. They're good at different things and that's what Jessica and Taeyeon could've been. I would probably say Wheein is better than Solar tho that might just be biased I can't stand Solar.
I honestly think around 2007-2009 Jessica was more stable and comfortable on hitting a high note than Taeyeon,it maybe too nasally but still stable Thats just my observation But Taeyeon has improved nowadays She have potential to reach the highest range and beating sunny (this dolphin sounds prove it LOOOL) Jessica is my bias but shes not putting effort in it much when singing tbh and im just disappointed cause her voice is so soothing and calming to hear

I think it's because SNSD music did adapt a little after their first album, and so Jessica was expected to sing much higher--she's not very resonant when she does belt in this way. Her radio lives in 2007-2008 were gold because she kept her voice neutral. Taeyeon's improvement and confidence in music has been incredible to watch. She keeps defying her critics and getting better at what she loves to do. I've been really disappointed with Jessica's solo material. The producers at SM pushed her to do better. The last songs we heard from her were Divine and CMIYC and her voice sounded incredible, and I would argue Tiffany and Taeyeon do not match her at all when they attempt to take her place for them. I feel like it was going to be a new era for Jessica. But Coridel isn't pushing Jessica at all. They have terrible producers imo. They rely on Jessica alone, and that's not fair. Taeyeon wouldn't be where she is now if she didn't have good teachers and support. You need discipline and people encouraging you to grow and I just don't think that's what Coridel are doing.

But we already heard the version with Jessica's unique voice timbre and her own style of singing, you know?
