From one impatient tea girl to another: there are kettles with different temperature settings! Then you can always get the perfect temperature for your tea. I love mine :D
I also have one, and I'll never go back 🙈 BUT I have a tip for brewing green tea without this feature to those who don't have one! Just pour water into the cup first, wait a beat and put in the bag after. That way the temperature goes a bit down before brewing! OR just reduce the brewing time to 1 min or less.
so happy to be early, I love your videos! I literally watched your video "i read the billionaire tiktok romance so you don't have to" today at work when i was in the lab while doing experiments , and let me tell you my supervisor was so confused about me laughing my ass off

I'm so happy you've discovered the wonder that is Psalm For The Wild Built and This Is How You Lose The Time War... they're both just so lyrical and with frankly immaculate vibes
My mom has a kettle that allows you to set the temperature instead of just boiling water... Such a gamechanger for green tea, and it wasn't even expensive! I highly recommend
watching your videos this past year has helped me so much with just relaxing and winding down. I've been able to both keep cozy in my comfort zone but also to build up the courage to try new things even if thats just a new genre of books or new clothes. I hope the moving is going well and I hope youll love your new place and are able to rest and relax❤
I could hear you talk about books for hours Leonie ❤ i enjoyed your video with a cup of green tea myself too 🍵 I actually cannot wait to see the new setup ✨️
The world needs more hopepunk.... OMG Rouge was such a ride. I tried to explain it to people and still haven't managed to adequately describe it. I am also sentimental! I hope that you have fun creating a new background while retaining fond memories of this one ❤
Speaking of time-travel-related novels, a book that I'm currently reading and recommend is The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley. Though I haven't finished yet, there's a very interesting mixture of speculative, romance, and historical fiction genres. Plus it has some of my favorite elements like a deadpan morally-grey protagonist, arguably somewhat cosy vibes at times (?), humour (+ some more serious themes), found family, and some yearning. Don't go in expecting the focus to fully be on the romance, though!
in a similar vein to psalm for the wild, I recently read "what you're looking for is in the library", which is a book where each chapter is about different people in Japan just dealing with their everyday lives... and I haven't read psalm for the wild but the way you talked about it, it reminded me a bit of that book. It is also short and it is less about big philosophical concepts but more about our attitudes towards our lives and what they should be. It is really inspiring and kind of soothing. I really love e.g. its exploration of self-care and that the view that managing to take care of yourself is an achievement we can be proud of. Also, I can really recommend the audiobook for it, as different narrators are used for the characters' perspectives.
You should definitly check out the sequel to A Psalm for the Wild-Built. I personally liked it even more than the first book. This duology is the best example of Solarpunk, which is a subgenre of Sci-Fi that has an optimistc view of the future. Unfortunatly I still haven't found other Solarpunk books that were as good as Monk and Robot.
I think you would enjoy Becky Chambers' other sci fi series, The Wayfarers. She has a really nice, positive way of discussing philosophical themes, social themes, etc. The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet is quite good, and my favourite is the second one called A Closed and Common Orbit.
4:59 I haven’t read the books yet, but in the show adaptation for the three body problem on Netflix they also talk about this and how humans have become too fearless, and the aliens want to teach us to fear again.
I love this video so much. I only recently came across your channel and it’s giving me so much joy as I work on my thesis. Thank you so much for your beautiful content! Your videos feel like a warm, bookish hug ❤
Good luck with the rest of the move! It's exhausting and time consuming and expensive, but it's so worth it when you put your feet up, after folding up the last cardboard box, and look around at the freshly painted walls that are the exact color you wanted. Hope everything goes smooth and easy for you :)
All of Becky Chambers' books are amazing. If you want stories with great characterization, intellectually compelling, but also soul soothing, definitely check out more of her books. Very "cozy Sci-Fi" vibes while still making the reader wrestle with interesting ethical dilemmas.
Yours is the best description I've heard of This is how you lose the time war. I love this book and almost never talk about it because i don't know how to explain it but this helps so much. I'll bring it into conversation more often now.
5:47 You should totally pick up Becky Chambers' other books, the Wayfarer series. Again they are soft, utopic sci-fi with really interesting conversations about what makes us who we are. I've read 2 of 4 so far, and love them! ❤ Thank you for all your lovely videos Leonie, hope the move goes well ✨
@@generic_fish Ah my apologies, I had not noticed there was a reply! I really liked the two books I've read so far. The first one follows more a cast of characters on a voyage. The second alternates between 2 POVs and has a definite theme around AI and the meaning of humanity. The world building is very interesting and just wholesome, inclusive, thoughtful 😊
Every time pooh and piglet tried to get home they ended up back in the same spot lost. So they decide as they walk away next to try and end up in the same spot and they actually end up back home! Also the man with the bucket that had a hole in it. Villagers laughed at him for wasting his time but he says but look how nice my flowers are......as I walk the leaky bucket waters them as I walk. Such a wonderful book
Love the novella reads, I appreciate how short books are usually well-structured in order to concisely get their points across :) re:anti-intellectualism, like you said, there is merit to academic jargon as well as pretension. I think it's also important to acknowledge that not all works are written for the same audience. An expert writing to share something with their similarly expert peers to encourage more research is going to use more complex concepts and terminology bc they're trying to address complicated questions and all of their nuances, and there's a foundation of understanding that the intended audience already has. Likewise, someone writing something for a general public that did not spend years studying in academia should not present the same complex topics in a way that assumes readers already know all of the knowledge they do
I been watching lots of booktubers talk about Psalm of the Wild-built and This is how you lose the time war, but (perhaps in an attempt to not spoil them) no-one seemed to really tell us what are the book about or how they're so special. But you did and now I finally really want to read them, and for that I'm greatful
Sit down videos with warm lighting are my favourite brand of video. I always feel like I'm over at someone's house, I love them. Also, girl why are you wearing a blanket in July??
What a great cozy setting! I have to say, Mona Awad seems to be too bright for me 😂. I read Bunny and I cannot say what I thought about it. BUT I think I need to reread it some time, so this is a pretty strong sign for a very good book 😅😂
14:17 I think Tom Cruise being there could be commentary on something. Idk what his role is in Rouge, but Tom Cruise has been a huge advocate and part of Scientology. Leah Remini talks about Tom Cruise's role in Scientology in her memoir, which I've heard great things about.

I don't know if anyone has recommended the book further down in the commens but "The Long Way to Small Angry Planet" also by Becky Chambers has def similar vibes to A Psalm for the Wild-Built, although with higher stakes
You need to read the Singing Hill cycle by Nghi Vo! A series of novellas following a cleric who travels around collecting stories! Has a very similar vibe to the Monk and Robot books with a bit more of a focus on storytelling as a theme! You can read them out of order and I recommend starting with When the Tiger Came Down the Mountain!
Came here to comment this! Just read ‘When the lion came down the mountain’ and it was even better than the first one! Def same vibe as Monk/Robot, it even follows a Cleric, and in my opinion, MUCH better! Beautiful language and philosophical themes. (Not sci-if though, but fantasy).
Two of my favourite quotes, found from (I think?) a tumblr screenshot so I don’t know who the original credit goes to: ‘“diamonds are formed under pressure” “yeah, and bread dough rises when you let it rest. We are all our own things”’ and “the same boiling water that hardens the egg softens the potato”
I also love Bunny and Rouge, and I've said this to you on IG, but don't skip All's Well! It has all the weirdness that Mona is capable of, mixed with a healthy dose of Shakespeare and chronic pain. And yes, I also thought that I should have a skin care routine while reading Rouge!! So culty!
I recently saw a series in the bookstore called "The Wild Robot" and from the cover and bio alone, they sound very similar to a Psalm for the Wild Built! However, I've not read either of those series but they're both on my TBR now
The wild robot definitely has similar themes to a psalm for the wild built but in a kids book. It's such a good book and there's a movie coming out later this year

When I was in New Orleans I found a little card in a shop that read, “when I am myself, I am free”. It is now on my fridge as a reminder
I love all your videos so muchhhh
Such a cozy videos, love it!
I love this is how we lose the time war! This is how we win red!!
