One of the best UA-cam vids I have watched, I live in South Africa and like Beaver DIY SA very helpful when buying local ingredient's. Just finished building my own 2 inch copper reflux still, which can be also used as a Pot Still. My aim is to make my own drinkable Whisky, I am starting with a Birdwatchers Sugar Wash to make Gin.

Hi John, yeah I like Beavers channel, always happy to see a new video from him. Glad you are getting into it yourself. The birdwatchers is a famous recipe so I'm sure it will be good, but going all-grain will give a better whiskey. Pretty soon I will be doing an easy bourbon recipe, all grain, but no mash. Cheers mate.

Hey Planet Moonshine! I am in the process of doing my first cleaning run on my first still. I have been researching this for about a year because of insecurities with safety a.o.t. - Your video, I think, answered pretty much ALL of the questions I have painstakingly searched for for a long time. Very well done! I think this can help a lot of people who need a wholesome walkthrough of how to get started with this craft. I am looking forward to more of your videos in the future. Cheers! Thank you!

Great video and series. Any chance you could share the link for the equipment you used in the build?

      Yes I can...
Here are some of the parts I ordered… not sure I have a full list any more.
Element - You need the 220V version for UK. I used the 3Kw model. it heats 30L of wash to boiling in just about an hour.

Cleaning port - I used the 114mm size

Drain port - I used the 50.5mm size

      Ball valve - 50.5 size

Column - I used the 3 inch size

I also bought a 3” sight glass which I use at the base of the column and a 2 to 3inch tapered adapter The sight glass is the 76mm x Ferrule 91 item.

Can’t find the link to that one, but its a standard adapter 76mm to 50.5.
Plus a few spare tri clamps and gaskets in 2inch and 3inch as spares.

Another great video :) And you went 3 inch and probably exactly what would be my ideal build! Im interested in the actual keg attachment piece, I expect its a standard part, just interested. Going to continue to watch your journey

Hi Martin, yes its just at standard 2inch triclamp with an adapted rubber seal. From above that is a 2inch to 3inch tapered adapter.

Jesse on the stillit channel did a great podcast video a couple of years back with an historian of ancient still designs. The guy attempted to replicate many of them. Very fascinating stuff and the historian guy was brilliant.

Great series that you are producing. I have a still cobbled together from a 20 litre combo keg which has a removable top and the sandkey fitting that can be easily adapted to usage with tri-clover clamps, a 2' stainless sanitary tube and an AlcoEngine Copper Reflux Condenser sold out of New Zealand, I believe. Small but fierce.

I would give it a go if I could get my hands on the sloes. Though with the orange season starting here now in a month or two we will be awash with citrus fruit.
