Huh, feels like Russians are repeating the strategy used by USSR during the Operation Bagration. Before the start, Red Army redeployed much of their tank armies and focused it all on one place, seemingly signalling to the German that they will be attacking there, so they pulled all their reserves there. Instead, Red Army advanced not in the percieved location, that being Western Ukraine, but in Belorussia.
Now, Russian Army made a show of deploying forces in Kharkiv, advanced a bit, and drew much of the Ukrainian forces in, leaving much of the frontline exposed, including the central part, aka Toretsk - Niu-York. And look at the results...
Yeah, Russia can attack anywhere, and Ukraines best soldiers (people that have survived more than a week) are sent there to fight. The problem is, Ukraine has a major shortage of weapons and men. Russia has more firepower and can spread their troops out, unlike Ukraine

Is donbass the most fortified positions in Ukraine? If donbass falls then Russia can push I to Ukraine heartland due to almost no fortifications right outside of donbass.
The front-line between 2014 and 2022 was obviously heavily built up. Behind those line Ukraine has had plenty of time to build up defences over the past 2 and a half years, but seem to prefer spending the money on mansions and jewellery. So once Russia gets past those front-line cities such as Avdiivka, then it becomes easier to gain territory.
Not really. At the speed Russia is advancing (when advancing), any place can be fortified in advance before the russian arrive.
Also, the Dniepr is quite the obstacle, but taking everything east of the Dniepr would be very significant in this war and could actually bring Russia to reach at least some of its objectives in this war.
I expected them to do so at least back in 2022, I had some expectations in 2023, the USA gave them a window of opportunity in early 2024, but it would seem that the russian armed forces, mostly due to their poor leadership, is absolutely unable to do so.
@@lepetitroquet9410 It would appear that you made the same mistake of thinking that NATO does. You keep expecting big arrow maneuver offensives to take place. They won't. Russia is not interested in doing so as the battlefield is too lethal for the Russians, or the Ukrainians for that matter, to advance beyond the range and support of their air defense and electronic warfare protection. This is why Russia has adopted the strategy of attrition to destroy the AFU. As long as the Ukrainian losses far outstrip their own, 5:1 or even more, then Russia is quite content to maintain the current pace of operations. And being very well lead in that strategy it would seem.
When the Ukraine becomes unable to replace its losses the war will end in Russia's favor. The AFU is already unable to replace its losses, even more so when you realize that its pool of trained veteran soldiers is dwindling and their not being replaced by newly trained soldiers, only untrained cannon fodder who are happy to surrender the first chance they get. Once the AFU reaches a state of collapse, like the Imperial Russian Army did in 1917, then either Russia can advance and seize the territories it wants or get them as part of a peace offering. But the goal of the current strategy is not to seize land, but DELETE Ukrainian soldiers.

After the end of the US Russian war and the US Hamas war, The problem facing the Multi-Nodal world (Ambassador Chas Freeman's concept) is that millions of fighting men get demobilized at the same time to return home to No employment, No housing, No consumer goods, No Veterans care.
