At least White and Tray on the same accord! They are well rounded thinkers who’s considering the DC ppl as a WHOLE. Not a certain CLASS. She’s stating “how much she’s spent” no sis, like tray and white are trying to ask you, “what have you spent that the under-deserve ppl benefited from?” Your developers made money off you and not everyone got a piece of that pie. Bowser you got to GO.
I’m sadly just now getting myself familiar with council member, DC Mayor elect Trayon White. I’m surprised that I don’t see any of his signs/placards displayed all over DC. Trayon has done so many things for the low-income neighborhood communities and for the youth in Wards7 and 8. He has shown time and time again, he is for the people and literally takes action as opposed to making promises.
His competition are getting people to take signs and throw them in the trash..
It’s the walk that makes a difference not the talk. Too much Blah blah blah.

@@KeithCindyPanama Trayon has been putting work in before he was elected to office. I met him about 8 years ago in ward 8 working with our seniors and youth with no title just a genuine heart. He is the real deal and I hope if he is elected in this doesn't change!
I'm proud of Trayon White. He did a great job and would love to see how he does as Mayor.

This was insightful. However, the panel seemed as it they were favoring the Mayor vs. remaining neutral. I still enjoyed the townhall.
I agree. I felt like they gave Mr. White a very unfair advantage; however, he stood his ground, and I was grateful.

I will say Bowser definitely mischaracterized White's take on affordable housing. He wasn't saying money doesnt matter when it comes to affordable housing but rather that money alone doesn't necessarily equal results. Especially if that money is being spent on behalf of the people who need it the most.
Affordable housing needs to go to people who have a consistent job. We appreciate what we have when we contribute to our havs
Right. Why not renovate empty office buildings and make me 1brs near metro and jobs? Stagger housing to fit the demographic 3brs near schools and Affordable housing. 2brs for downsizers and small families single is divorced women 2br, 1br for couples and single professional, Studios for singles just getting started near DC nightie and cultural stuff.

Community centers aka rec centers are one of the best possible way of reducing youth crimes in the city, this will give youths an opportunity to see that there’s more than just crimes out here. After listen to Tray on a lot of issues, this young man is what DC needs moving forward. Bring back Rec centers like we had back in the 80’s. Funds are being put up for gentrification, but not enough going in for youth programs and housing for seniors.

Rec Centers are nice. Better schools and aftercare are more important so kids can learn and have a safe place to learn and wait for parents to come home to...

I agree with you and I believe that the secret to financial stability is having the right investment ideas to enable you earn more money, I don’t know who agrees with me but either way I recommend either real estate or crypto and stocks.

Mayor Bowser is a reactive candidate and not a proactive one. She has the answers to deal with the issue once it occurs, but not addressing the root causes to these issues.
Maybe... She needs to track and chart her responces (like putting out problems) as compared to long term solutions to the actual issue.

I'm still bitter DC council repealed the vote of the people on Initiative 77. This initiative would have raised wages for tipped workers in DC and eliminated the 2 tiered minimum wage for service industry workers. The only person on stage that opposed repeal was Robert White and he's my candidate. Muriel Bowser, where are your values? Are you for the betterment of your citizens or are you in the pocket of rich capital owners?

Trayon White had the most vocal supporters because they were the ones cheering him and booing Mayor Bowser throughout this debate. I assume Murial Bowser is going to win easily because she's served 2 consecutive terms and is somewhat of a big name nationally, the other 2 probably don't have the money or clout to beat her. I'm interested to see where Trayon White finishes(or even if he can win) because he has a "People's Champ" quality about him.
He’s always here to support families during crisis in the city. She’s only there to cut ribbons in front of new buildings.

Both of you are right, Trayon White comes across as a Marion Barry type(who he mentioned during the debate) who really wants to help the community that he came from. I've heard him speaking about problems in D.C.(youth crime, low quality groceries in poorer parts of D.C., gentrification, etc) through the years and you can see that he's experienced and overcome a lot of the obstacles that D.C. residents face. The other 2(especially Bowser) seem like people who are in politics because it affords them a nice lifestyle and fame!

What're we gonna do about highlighting, shining a klieg light and focusing on those who do, and have, unfortunately resorted to criminal behaviors and activities, to support and uplift them, rather than those who are innocent, serving, and sincerely contributing to our commmunities?
Monies were stolen from different low-income redevelopment projects on several occasions. Also, monies were not disbursed to DC Section8 residents. What measures were taken in those instances? DC maybe wealthy but the gap btwn the city & residents is staggering. Not hosting a Town Hall Meeting for DC Housing, in person, spelling out the current dynamics, process, point of contacts, correct information, and low-income housing inclusion warrant speak volumes.

DC needed reconstruction & renovations but the new developments are over 1 million dollars.... basically rent is $2500 or more for a 1br apartment and is income restricted, let alone there isn't much income based housing for lower/middle class. Now all of these businesses are not interesting to "minorities"... she sold this city out to gentrifiers

Like saying, "what are 'you people' complaining about?" Absolutely not, the fact is most of the development is to gentrify Blacks out - and Whites in. The housing development in this city is unfair, biased, and caters to the milli, genZ, techy, rich, predominately transports. Most retired older adults here are unable to afford safe, decent housing now in DC. No complaint, this is fact. Development? Yes, without discrimination. Development? Yes, with fair housing, pricing across the board for everyone, and no redlining. But that wouldn't make money for the city leaders and developers who may be greasing each other's palms.

Housing is unaffordable because the mayor has spent all the money on attracting gentrifiers to come and take over our city. The real citizens of DC can no longer afford to live in the city bc she’s worried about beautifying the land as opposed to making the livelihoods of the citizens that live on it. DC tickets have also gotten out of hand it’s punishing residents for breathing and existing…ridiculous prices that cost as much as rent anywhere else but DC. Please vote based on rent prices everyone…laws that incentivize builders to build expensive luxury instead of livable and affordable need to go. The city is becoming unlivable for the actual people. The people that are paying for it are outsiders. The real DC citizens are being kicked out of the very city they helped build.
DC needs to maintain housing for people with no income and make it affordable for those with income based upon their income.You look into an apt just vacated at top rent and can't afford it. Rent should be stabilized and subsidized based upon income.
