  • In the workplace, we are all striving for a sense of belonging. We want to be sure our voices are heard and that we can turn our ideas into action. But what can go wrong when the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion are missing? What are the benefits if we do apply these principles? Krys Burnette shares her insights and best practices for the futures of our workplaces. Krys has consulted and worked with large Global enterprises. Currently, she is leading global organizational transformation efforts focusing on people, culture, and organizational development. In her role, she empowers individuals and leaders to be more inclusive, innovative, and responsive to build stronger teams, organizations, and businesses for the future.
The year 2020 and 2021 is marked with uncertainty and complexity. And even though individuals adjust to a “different normal”, Krys Burnette continues to share her passion about the value of equity, diversity and inclusion (ED&I) in all areas of our lives. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Very well said and so true! Diversity = different and guess what people? We are ALL different. So this is pertinent to every person, but even more so to the people who feel like the minority or the 'only' one as she said. Shame on all the people trolling on this video with negativity. Time to let go of the cynicism and bitterness and make the world a place we ALL want to be a part of!

When Ruth Bader Ginsburg said "Women belong in all places where decisions are being made" this is what she meant
Krys Burnette displays this clearly!! This insightful woman's message needs to be in shared in every boardroom around the world.
This generation will change the world, given the chance. This generation is telling you what they need in the workplace to be successful, are you listening?

Very friendly and easy to understand her views on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion as a place of belonging. I thought this was an excellent tool to share with your fellow employees, colleagues, and collaborators in any business of any size and location. She ended with a PERIOD by saying THE CHOICE IS YOURS. Loved it! ❤

People don't let it be enough to stop talking about it. It is to stop bringing new life into the world. So we'll talk about how we should could would differently. So to speak the if not for and never mind. What it is to waste time teaching and learning pedagogy to put this conversation to use and put a stop to behavior we're so certain about that exhaustion of stress to be other than you are. Doing other than you do. As I have to say... doing other than speaking diversity as people always do the inclusion in doing so feeling it is necessary now more than ever ongoing. We have to stop and we are not for teaching what has been done is wrong by letting it happen. *Continuously*

Thank you for sharing your wonderful talent dear lady. Such relatable and inclusive talk Krys. Loved it! Especially, the focus towards creating a sense of belonging, in the workplace, which, in turn, leads to a better workplace and therefore business outcomes. It is not easy but worth the effort, resulting in better connection for everyone. Thank you. Wishing you all a happy Sunday. Marie-Louise 🙏

Ive been the only dark person my whole life in class. I am now almost finished with Fire engineering and will soon start civil engineering in fire technology, total of 5 years in uni.
I never thought of myself as less capable than others because i never let someone convince me of it.
All i needed to make it through was the knowledge that i can.
People like Krys Burnette steals that mindset away from you. Dont listen to her. She will discourage you from even trying.
Life isnt supposed to be 100% comfortable. You grow as a person when you challenge yourself.

Diversity in normal speak means a variety. In HR speak Diversity means Not white, or male, or christian, or straight. In normal terms diversity would mean adding to collective. in HR speak it means excising from the collective.

The speakers feelings do not equal reality. If there arn't any barriers then forcing an equality of outcome just means less qualified people will be placed in to roles to fit her diveristy ideals. There is already equal oppertunity so she should focus on getting more under represented groups interested in whatever field she feels they're missing in

You cant just magically add people of color when there are none to choose from, unless you lower the skill bar. But thats discrimination.
To get more women into programming, they have focused making more women interested in it.
