I have a lot of fun with mine but I get the frustration at the start. Eventually I realized my prob was the usb cord I was using to connect. After that I didn’t get the driver message anymore. I’m sure it’s not for everyone but I now make my own samples to load in and particularly love making percussive samples on my Werkstatt to load. I’ve never had any issues popping it in a bag (I use a small toiletry/travel bag) that it fits in perfectly with all the connections. This sucker has kept my sanity while in the passenger seat during a few road trips. I plug into the car aux and have some fun through the car stereo. I also like syncing out from it because of the precise tempo display (I use an SQ-1 a lot so that makes a big difference).
Im glad it works for you. Thats actually why I bought it so I could do exactly what you are saying. Its fun as he77 if thats not an issue. Thanks fir your comment and im sorry I didn’t see any of these.
I installed the USB drivers from korg's website but my main problem ended up being the USB cord as well. The cord works with other stuff just not the Sample2
You're not wrong. I have one too. Ignore the USB. The sync in is the way to load samples. But, it requires some dedication and a plan. I used it in my last vid but I am building a 100 sample pack for a much more immersive experience. This instrument is not for the faint hearted. It requires work to get good stuff out of it.
Thanks for the comment and im glad it works for you. I only would disagree with the faint hearted comment as i am def faint hearted when things bug me but the actual synth and sequencer itself was just plain fun as he77 to use. I didn’t talk though a lot of that because i was having so much fun tweeking the little bastard. Thanks for watching im sorry I didn’t see all these.
Im a noob on a budget, was planning on combining V1 for 80s drums with the volca Drum for sound design and eventually maybe making some samples. Thanks for the video!
Ok, after finally watching the full video: I think your expectations are a little off. Yes, it's tedious to use, however, doesn't loading samples via your mobile still function well on this USB version? Korg even states on their website the software isn't ready yet, at least it did last time I checked. Did you try to figure if transferring data via standard SysEx works? And the main selling point of this thing is its low sample resolution, which is outstanding on the market right now. I owned a Analog Rytm MK2 until recently, and eventually gave up on it as it sounded too sterile for my needs. It just won't work for darker metal guitar ambitions, the timing alone is too tight. Then, after getting rid of the Rytm, I dug out my old Volca Sample, where I happened to have some jungle style patterns prepared for fooling around. Instantly worked amazingly well with guitar, doesn't even sound off when chugging over the jungle beat, just works. Timing and resolution kind of create a feel like a human was playing the beat, unlike those fancy Elektron devices. And did you really get no use out of the stock samples? They are pretty amazing, in my opinion, the only interest I have in the USB port is for backing up my patterns in case this plastic toy breaks. Anyways, I think you'd discover a whole new world when just trying to make the stock samples work and viewing the USB port as a welcomed but secondary bonus. Keep in mind they squeeze as much as they can out of tiny chips in these Volcas, it's kinda admirable, even tho I really wish they were much sturdier and not made in the next low wage country. Oh well. Thanks for the insights, I'm confident I will be happy with the USB version now. :) Oh, for the record: I only watched this video because I have adblock running, without it I would close instantly at the first ad.
Yeah for sure miss the little bastard. Agree my expectations were too high. I see you are a prolific typer,.. you get an extra 25000 points on my channel for that!
I had to try like 5 different micro USB data cables, but once I found one that worked, it worked flawlessly. Still a massive pain in the arse though, they should have used USB-C, there's really no excuse
@@noxfubar I ended up selling mine. Every time I swapped around some samples all the patterns would be wiped and I'd have to do a factory reset, or something similar. I looked it up online and it was a problem that other people were having too. Piece of garbage, I can't believe Korg didn't at least update firmware to address some of the issues
@@rorz999sorry to hear. Looks like you couldn’t stick to stock samples. There isn’t much in that price range with a sampler. You would have to go up a price tier to something like an sp404 mkii or a Polyend tracker mini. Maybe a used Korg electribe. You can get a Roland T8 for that price but it’s not a sampler.
As far as understood Korg removed song mode that was in previous version (where you could save up to 6 songs) but added quantity of patterns that you can save (16 instead of 10 in Ver1)? So now you can save nothing but 16 patterns instead of 6 songs in previous version?
I really enjoyed how casual your tone was the whole time 😅 it was just "this thing sucks but I'm not mad about it" ...I think it won the battle in the end and volcas usually do 🤔
Thanks for the warning. Can you load samples directly from an audio device? It boggles my mind how T.E. can make the PO 33 sample with a mic and Korg can't/won't; and, both companies don't at least provide a memory card slot to simplify storing and loading samples.

The fact Arturia Midi Control Center is deemed one of the better Sofware Utiklities for synths shows how low the bar is.

The driver issue, among other issues is related to crappy cables. Been using 4 different Sample V2's and 3 Sample V1's
