Project Cavour is the first experimental sounding rocket from Italy to have participated at the world's largest rocket engineering competition: the Spaceport America Cup. This rocketry competition takes place each year at Spaceport America, in the desert of southern New Mexico, USA, with hundreds of university student teams participating from all over the world.
The Cavour rocket was built entirely by student of PoliTo Rocket Team, a student team of the Polytechnic University of Turin (Politecnico di Torino), the oldest technical university in Italy, located in Turin.
The Cavour rocket achieved amazing results at the competition, winning the 1st prize for Innovation, and ranking 13th in the world ranking with 119 participating teams.
