when you remove the dipstick there will be a red plastic section at the very end about 2 inches long..the middle section is checkered/crosshatched...the oil level should be at the top of the crosshatched section, but not onto the upper slightly wider area of the red end of the dipshick

sounds too good to be true. OEM filter is around $20, quality Mann filter is around $10. Mobil 1 Synthetic is around $60 for 10 quarts. so where is the labor cost? they must use subpar product to make profit.
Mann filters are OEM. They can be had for less than $10 at Pelican Parts. Shops get wholesale prices and buy in bulk so they pay less. Same with oil. Mobil 1 at Wally Mart is always much cheaper than the chain parts stores unless they are running a sale. $80 is not a bad price.

vidvidvid2012 when I get it on sale , I can get Mobil 1 for around $6-7 per liter . The filter is around $12 and you need 7 liters .. So it isn't a lot cheaper to do it yourself if your shop charges $80 .. but they can get it in bulk for even less than $6
I mix up my own half 15W-50 with half 0W-40, best I can find, it didn't break 100*F this year though but it has been warmer than the last few summers.

yes 1 gallon is around 4 litres.. I usually buy Castrol Syntech edge, or Mobil 1 European on sale when it is $30 for a 5 litre jug
***** some tutorials drain the oil by removing the screw under the hood. Is it better to follow your tutorial?
