Finally all caught up. Completely agree with your analysis of the analog feel. Wait until you get some good coilovers and lower the car. It will definitely change the feel of driving. Great vids as always! Dont be discourage with the hiccups the 86 gives you. Thats the 86 life 😂!!
Thanks Danny! I can't wait to get the rest of this car dialed in. I've had wheels, tires, and suspension components sitting in boxes for years now waiting for everything else to get fixed! The love/hate relationship seems to be a common theme among 86 owners haha. 😅
@@DoubleOSevan It's true bro, I've had my 86 for over 20 years now and I've upgraded the engine now for the 5th and final time hopefully. I've learned in my time in the car game that anytime you go and start doing modifications and upgrades to any vehicle you're always going to run into gremlins. 😂!! But once my 4age was dialed in, it was one of the best running engines I've ever built. I'm hoping the 1uz gives me that type of reliability along with stock power for just as long.

The biggest headache with these older cars are the previous owners' hack jobs + time wearing away at everything. Whether it's a seized bolt or the previous owner rebuilding the engine incorrectly, there's always something to keep you busy (and cursing at the sky haha).

@@DoubleOSevan Yes! Our GTS was in storage since 2010, until last year, made out on 8/6/2022! My friends and I used to host AE86 Nights in Alhambra, Kohls parking lot from 2006 to 2010. At its peak, we had over 60 Corollas!

The UA-cam algorithm has eluded my channel for quite some time, but I'm glad it's starting to do its job haha! The Toda Racing flywheel is the 3.7kg variant (so about 8.15ish lbs). Hope you enjoy the videos! ✌

@@SidewaysGts LOL that hurts 😅 I never anticipated this project taking so long and having so many setbacks, but I've got the parts in now and am determined to get this thing done (at least mechanically) by the end of this year.
Having a great engine builder and tuner is really key. I was lucky to have Shingo from Bluemoon Performance and Turbo Joe Tuned handle those aspects. They're both legends in their respective fields.

your starter issue is not the starter it's actually the old ignition wiring in the car the fixes to put a starter relay SQ engineering has a write-up on their website
Thank you for this! I remember reading that article years back when I first ran into starter issues, but totally forgot about it after doing all the other work to the car. I’ll try to tackle this when I get the headers out and have clear access to everything! ✌️
@@DoubleOSevan you should order a starter contact rebuild kit off ebay too while your in there. usually they are worn down. dont replace it rebuild it axper!
@@skunkbomber08 good idea! I had replaced the copper contacts in the starter before but I think I’ll replace the plunger piece as well. I’ll have to look into what else may be needed. I appreciate you brother! 🙌
holy shit I think my ra65 has the same problem!
I hacked up an early 90s camry at the junkyard and hacked up the starter for the connectors. I used these connectors to plug in the stock harness while using an OEM purple starter relay. This made it much more plug and play. Even with the starter rebuild, it will still not start on hot days or a hard run, bc of the resistance drop from the wires.
