I so happy I'm not the only one with with this heel down then heel up then middle of the foot bounce catching freakishly hard to explain foot technique. ...
No , I truly have no idea how the hell they recorded this. I just go by feel, and it took several tries to get these close. When they played it live , they had a system...basically the band came in on the 8th note after Plants last word. The stick clicks on the recording don't make any clear sense to me, they're not even or in time as far as I can tell. Must have been some kind of reference for them, but some are very close to the actual entrance, others are not . Bizarre.
Hardest song on the drums I ever learned to play. Trying to swing what I call the chorus at 0:45 and 2:43 was always a bastard. My favorite part is the two cymbal accents toward the end (meaning it's almost over and the band could go back to playing easy stuff like Out on the Tiles and The Ocean). Good work, George.
My theory on how they recorded this is that the song was recorded in sections. After Plant would finish each lead in vocal to the main riff, they would just cut completely. Count in the main riff from scratch and then they cut all the tape together later which is why its all in slightly random spots
You don’t seem to be bothered with excessive rebound on the bass. Is it just because of the forward position of your foot on the pedal? 🦶🏻Flawless performance as always. 👍🏼👍🏼
I'm not using a Speed King here. This is a Camco chain drive. I actually just sent my two Speed Kings to have them refurbished and they are on the way back . I'm looking forward to playing them again, they were really crusty. A guy named Keegan does them, and he does custom paint as well. I'll show you some pics when I get them back and I'll use them for my upcoming vids.
@@BONHAMOLOGY Doh! Didn't pay attention. I bought one on Ebay and tore it down, cleaned it, and packed new grease. I'd like to shim the pedal and add some nylon to the metal to metal connections. It gets the job done though.
I still can't figure when to put the snare hits in on this studio version. you can hear the stick clicks sometimes but ...just have to memorize it the way he does it..
I purchase two recently for double bass drum action on a Keller shell kit I just made. Fun fact is that one of them was saved for a year for Mike Kennedy (George Strait's drummer). Last year two days before he died he called the drum shop in San Antonio to hold the pedal for him. So the guy who owned the store came out with the camco with his name tag with Mike Kennedy on it and it sucked. I will play it for him.
WOW......just WOW!! Note for note!! Excellent!!
Flawless performance GEORGE!!! YOU ROCK!!! I don't waste time on other things!!! I never get tired or be bored on any of your videos!!!

I loved the foot camera. The description insight is pure gold!
Brilliant. Like the chrome on a 59 Cadillac on a sunny summer day😎
Perfect as always. Thank You for posting.
Awesome as usual. Live Bonham did double time on the high hat during the solo and then back to normal on many occasions. Wish I could play drums...
Douglas Wells anybody can just with a little practice
First again. I’m not worthy. Love the foot cam.
Thanks!

pro tip : you can watch movies on KaldroStream. Been using them for watching a lot of movies during the lockdown.
@Ismael Alessandro Definitely, I have been using kaldrostream for months myself :D
Flipping Marvellous!!!!
Thanks George cool side action of your foot tricky stuff
Perfection! I love the bass drum cam too!!
It just doesn't get any better than this does it guys
Nice work, as usual. Really appreciate the kick-kam, it’s excellent seeing the kick work better.
Thanks Keith!
Awsome pedal vew. Perfectly played as always
Love your foot technique! 🤙🏼
Amazing attention to detail.

Bene, bravo, ai livelli di Bonham...che è il drummer N 1 al mondo!!!!! Spero di risentirti con altri brani

I watched it three times trying to find a mistake, as usual no luck.
Awesome 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Great!
Great.. Mr. bonzo
❤
Grooves like a moose! Sounds great.
A foot camera, like it wasn't awesome enough seeing it from above
That was great ! I love the overhead camera angel that you use , you can really see everything you're doing. Is your ride cymbal a medium or a light ?
thanks. Its not labelled but it feels like a medium
Like#237👍Great tune from a great band👍Awesome cover 👏👏👌❤️Subscribed 👍Greetings from NL Canada👍
Thank you!
😃 👍 👊
Great , great work!!!!! !!! Did you use the tone control in the snare drum? in the tom, and floor tom too?

Thanks. I never really thought about it!
Awesome video ,what brand are your cymbals or can somebody tell me
Thanks. It's in the description. Paiste 602 ...all vintage 1960's
Your kit sounds like Bonham
Do you count during the vocal break? If so, how?
or is it just feel memory?
I don't count, its uneven pretty much every time. See my comment to 639birddog
Nice. Is it just me or were you rushing the snare intros just a hair? I know I have a tendency to do that.
How far in do you have your spring tension screws on your Speed King?

Are you doing ghost notes on the bass drum?
How fuck you manage to follow the tempo when the drums stop i always struggle with that :(

Is this a camco pedal?
yes, chain drive ...from the 70's /80's.
