- Here's a commercial for the original timed puzzle game "Perfection" from Lakeside.
The commercial for the sequel, Superfection, is here: • Superfection by Lakesi...
This aired on local Atlanta TV (or via Cable) on Tuesday, November 14th 1978 during the 4:00pm to 4:30pm (Eastern) timeframe.

You've made this generation *extremely* happy for putting up the complete version of this commercial. Thank you!
📀
This is the game that kicked off my anxiety disorder :)
Hahaha, same!
Underrated comment 😂👍
Came here to say this 😂😂😂Games like this turn Gen X into anxiety ridden perfectionists 🤣🤣🤣
Hew yah
This jingle has been stuck in my head since the late 1970s.
Every once in awhile, I will just start humming it or singing it.
It goes on a continuous loop and I have no control over when it stops or starts.
I’m here to show my wife I had it 100% right. She’s a southerner, had no idea what I was talking about it. 55 going on 10
Lol Me too!!😂
I have the same problem. I’m glad I’m not alone.
That's exactly why I just came here, darn jingle lives in my head...
@@olddisneylandtickets Same. Thank the shade and stars for You-Tube.
Memories of good times, fun, childhood friends, family....Wish I could go backwards in time.
Yes same here, some of the greatest memories of my life were from those days. I miss them now more than ever before.
WOW WOW WOW! This is the full-length version/jingle everyone has been looking for, like forever. Thank you so much!!!!!
WHOA!!! "FULL-LENGTH??"
And you're not the only one saying it either?
I never remembered watching a shortened version of this on TV!
What am I missing here?
The BEST version of this commercial because it's the ENTIRE song.
This is probably one of the best underappreciated commercial jingles of all time.
Absolutely!!😊
TV Roblox
I agree
Oh memories of my youth, when board games were the best.
This commercial, along with the Laughin Levi's boy and dog, brings me back to the 70's riding my Schwinn Sting Ray bike with the neighborhood kids on weekends. We played outside and only came home when the street lights turned on. Simpler times.
After all these years, song is still in my head
Yes, that and School House Rock
I remember this commercial.
Brings back nice memories of grade school in the 1970s
OMG!!! The full 30 second version of this commercial. I knew it had to have existed somewhere. Thank you so much for the memories!!!!
It's nice to see all these old commercials again.
I'm 46, and the toys from my generation definitely brought me joy!
You were 2 years old when this came out. Not your generation.
Childhood memories of the 70's :)
Man does this take me back to Christmas when I was a kid
Finally : the full version! Thank you!
Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory
Push the plunger down, set the timer, put the pieces in place, but don't be slow...Love it ;)
They still make this. Hasbro makes it now. Which is great because I can now play this with my kids. Happy that the complete jingle is finally on You Tube.
As a kid of the 90s, I remember the “tOoOoOtAlLy AwEsOmE!!!1” Perfection commercial with the jingle based on Pop Goes the Weasel. I was surprised to hear a totally different jingle in this one.
Same
After all of the cocaine in the 80s, the 90s couldn't help but be extreme.
I remember being a little kid and thinking : this song is like a little story... but why'd you choose a sad song ?
Ah, my introduction to the minor key.
And then watching a family continually racing against the clock and failing.
It's weird being a little kid.
I remember singing this when I was little and thinking that it had an interesting sound to it. It was the minor key. Very catchy. The type of song that would stick in your head all day. I’m in my 50s, and I still remember it like I heard it yesterday.
Perfection was one of my all-time favorite games. The 1978 version was a nice upgrade from the original 1974 version. It was really easy to play, so I started playing the harder Superfection, with the puzzle pieces. 1970s toys were fantastic.
Best commercial theme ever. Stuck in my mind for 45 years!
It's amazing. My first time seeing this commercial in 45 years,
And I knew the song word for word.
Thank you! For finally posting the original version without superfection!! Been waiting years for this!
What is superfection?
@@angeliaboykin6660 It's a step up from Perfection: you'd have to combine two geometric shapes into one and put them in each slot before the timer stops.
Lakeside also made a mailbox bank that would not unlock until you put forty quarters into it.
The awesome thing is that the commercial explains the game in song. No need for a rule book.
Spot on❤
thank you... This darn song has been playing in my head for decades ! someone finally posted the entire jingle.
Nothing like the good Ol 70s commercials than the junk we have today!
Damn, played this game for hour's.
Was actually fun. That song was seared into my brain. Also a good way to time cooking some Swanson's dinner mmmm with the cherry pie and white mashed potatoes. ..
I wish you could find the original 1973 Perfection commercial with the original Perfection game design, Fuzzy.
I LOVED Swanson's dinner back in the day. Now looking at the ingredients, I can't believe I thought that was good food lol!!
Ah yeah. Typical 70s afternoon, heaven...
I so remember this game. Was one of my Christmas 🎅🏾🌲🎄gifts on Christmas Day! ❤❤ some great childhood memories there!
Super groovy download thanks BIG time. Full length version YES!!!!!! SUPER 1978 SUPER PERFECTION FUN! AWWW!! The memories super 70's. Super catchy theme and some wonderful memories! 🇺🇸😉🇺🇸😉👍😂😂
I totally forgot about Perfection. I had one of these when I was a kid!!
That was a great game
I never had the real thing, I always had the generic cheap version in all my toys, in this case, "Super Pop Up Game". My mother- "It's the SAME THING" My father- "You don't like it, don't play with it, and if you don't play with it, you ain't getting nothing next time!" Me at school-"I got "Perfection" for Christmas". Kid at school-"Let's play with it after school", Me- "Uh, no it's at my Grandma's house far away, i keep it there so when I go over I can play with it!"
Thank You for posting that classic commercial. I've been looking for that commercial for the longest time on UA-cam.
I still have mine at my parents' house and it still works....and I remember all the words to the jingle....I loved that thing!!!!
Awesome Commercial and Song Jingle as Well as Full Extended Version! Game was so much Fun to Play! Thank-You For Sharing and God Bless!
Nice upbeat song!
I remember playing that game at my aunt's house. The more I played the better I got.
Great. Now this is gonna be stuck in my head for days.
In this newer model, the whole top panel pushes down and pops up. An earlier model from the early 1970's had actual shaped holes in the top you placed the pieces in, and when the time was up, an internal floor would pop up and knock all the pieces out of the holes.
That jingle is stuck in my head from early childhood!
IT'S MAGNIFICENT 😉👍👍🎶❣️
This is where my childhood anxiety started....
What a great classic commercial. I was 16 and eating bowls of cheerios on a Saturday morning, Watching bugs Bunny and Roadrunner hour.
Finally!!! Thank you SO much!
Happier times in America
Man if this doesn't scream 70s. My older cousins had this game and I always sucked at it.
I had this and it's cousin Numbers Up. In that game the pieces would fall through after a minute rather than pop up.
Totally forgot about that until just now
Perfection! Set your OCD on fire with this game.
Lol
I didn't have this game, but did have its big brother Superfection, where you have to put puzzle pieces together to form cubes before placing them on the board. Very difficult to beat because some pieces look like they fit together but don't, and when they pop up they make such a loud clatter it gets you every time!
i had a modern version of this that i used to use CONSTANTLY as a kid
We had this & SuPerfection growing up. Drove my mother around the twist, lol
I remember this board game because the last time I’ve played this thing is when it was once in our elementary school classroom because I was Dan nine years old when I first played this thing and somewhere around that time that was the last time I’ve ever had my hands on a device like that.
I love old commercials
Wow I was 8 yo when when this commercial used to come on every Saturday morning 🌄!!! Now I'm 53 and I still love this jingle!!! Thank you❤️🙏🏽🙏🏽
Had that game!
i liked that game when i was younger
This game still makes me jump! 😊
I remember this, I'm pretty sure it came out when I was only in grade 1 I like Superfection too. We Played them at school..
Yay! No edited ad with SuPerfection stuck on at the end.
I had one of these when i was a kid,
Pop goes perfection!
The unedited unadulterated Perfection jingle at long last, I feel the search for 'The Holy Grail' has been completed.
My grandma has a copy of this! The pieces are missing though lmao
That's how you cheat, you hide a few pieces when it's not your turn, so they frantically search for the right piece and run out of time. When it's your turn, the piece discretely slips out of your sleeve or you hide a few pieces under the box and than find the pieces when it's your turn and they can't accuse you of cheating, make sure you call no do over's before you start though, so they can't go again!
THIS GAME CAME OUT IN 1973 ,WITH SAME THEME MUSIC AS IN THIS COMMERCIAL , THE GAME CASE WAS DIFFERENT
The pieces fell on the floor🤣
This commercial stuck in my head since the 1970s. I could never figure out “push the plunger down set the time”. That doesn’t look like a plunger.
Super perfection was also fun
I used to have this game.
Contributing to the anxiety levels of Gen X since 1978… 🤪
I got the Superfectipn game. Had some of those cube pieces running around my house for decades. Wonder if we got rid of it all by now. The box stopped working eventually so everything scattered….
I miss this time in life. I wish there was a do-over button in life.
I think this is the #1 commercial jingle ever made. It's so well made with a catchy intro/outro, an overall building crescendo and an unforgettable chord structure. I wish we knew who composed it - because it is, indeed, perfection.
#2 is the jingle for Daisy sour cream from years ago: ua-cam.com/video/I-Pv_ySeQIU/v-deo.html
I still have mine, but one piece is missing, and one piece is broken
When you’re into perfection, you stay on your toes, you have to be quick! I won’t tell you how it goes! Ha Ha!!!! 0:08
This game gave me permanent anxiety. The pieces could hit you in the head
Push the plunger down set the timer, set the pieces in place.....
complete with severe anxiety and the smell of urine from at least one kid at the birthday party
When I was a little kid in the mid 1970's the mom looked so old to me .... now she's kinda cute, Lol. 🤣
You know it funny I got a 1986 bozo show 25 Anniversary special and they was still useing this old commercial They cut it down so they could show the new game they got out but same commercial all those years later
Geez, I both loved and hated that "game"- if you want to call torture a game!
Sounds like the same singer who did some of the Schoolhouse Rocks.
This commercial is from 1978. Do you have the original from 1973 to upload?
They made a Battleship movie.
Can't they make a Perfection one?
Only if they can make a Mousetrap movie
@@VAWineNB Four mice have to stop the owner of a house from assembling a trap.
Is Blossom Dearie of Schoolhouse Rock fame part of the singers of the jingle?
My parent gave me this game when I was 4 (so, around the time of this ad).
I HATED this game!!!! 😖
Huh apparently people wanted the whole jingle. I just watched the one with dude that had the pieces for nipples
:)
The new ones don't pop all the pieces anymore 😢.... tiktoker G.A.TURKS
The most stressful game. I played it 2 or 3 times max. I'm pretty sure the only people smiling were the ones in the commercial.
