if you have a look at other bee keepers during the winter, they reduce the hive size so there is not so much space to heat up. normally reducing the size down to 2 boxes.

Great video. Thanks for sharing your perspective on wintering bees. It's a little different in Australia since we have a milder winter and different challenges. It's good to see beekeepers manage their hives to suit their local environment. 🤗 Can I ask, which state are you in?

So far so good on our bees. We've been feeding them. We're debating on getting pollen patties.
That is awesome! If you supplement with a few patties make sure to give a little sugar as well!
Green Dream Project I’m on the mind set to let my bees work. It doesn’t hurt for them to have to work extra hard. It just want let them starve out. For me bees do best when we leave them alone as much as we can.

Have you considered insulating the hives (at least in winter) so their resources last longer?
Why do you tie your hive down, is it got wind or bears. We’re in northern BC so it would be bears up here.
Your son does a great job flying the UAV's. A drone is a Male bee. Haha.

If you don't mind me asking what type of drone are you using? I'm interested in getting one. Thanks. Glad your girls are doing so well right now. I live in Northeast PA and it's been too cold for mine to get out and fly. Hopefully by the end of the week it will be just warm enough for them to fly out.

I thought they only have one female which is the queen 👑 and the rest all are male bees 🐝 isn’t it?
All the bees you see out flying and collecting pollen and nectar are actually female 💋💪🏼 there is one queen and there are a few males, but there purpose is to eat, sleep, mate, and then well... die! We have much love for the boys, but in the end their fate is sealed!

How you tell a male and female bees 🐝 ? I know how to tell the squirrels 🐿 but I don’t have a hive here so I believe all those I saw are females, they help me a lot in the garden I’m very appreciated
They do bee everything they do during the summer but fly.
