Well, that felt like a sucker-punch to the gut.
Every word Dave speaks is coated in so many layers of irony and coolkid sass but this is pretty much the one totally straightforward thing he says in the entire story up to this point and it hurts real fuckin bad

Scariest moment: standing there on your Quest Bed watching the countdown.
I love this conversation to death. :D It starts off so serious, Rose and Dave piecing together what happened and Dave wondering if he's alive or dead... then Rose goes all psychoanalysist, and Dave starts shouting at her that she has no idea what's going through his head and calling her crazy... and then it suddenly dissolves into ridiculous banter with almost no warning. XD Then suddenly serious again, and some really gorgeous character talk.
And then they start throwing around sports banter.

story time: in 7th grade we were reading The Dark is Rising and i forgot about the last few chapters, so the day before the test, i was reading until 3am while listening to this song on repeat. to this day, I only think about that book when i hear this.
moth You KNOW the Dark is Rising sequence by Susan Cooper???!!! Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one in the world who knows that book series! (Which is terrible considering it's so gosh darn well written and good. Seriously, more people need to read that series!)

“Average person has 38 alternate selves per timeline” factoid actually a statistical error. The average person has 0 alternate selves per timeline. Timelines Daiv, who travels through time and has 10000 alternate selves per timeline, was an outlier and should not have been counted.
Tl;dr higher statistical likelihood that if you encounter any random being alive or dead in paradox space, it will be a Dave. Hence, tons of Daves all over the music, too

God, i love this so, so much.
At first it’s just women singing and some other instruments. They give it a mystical feel, and sound a lot like Rose. It sounds sad too, like how Rose is sacrificing herself and Dave’s watching his sister throw away her life for him and their friends.
Then the guitar comes in, obviously Dave, flying up to Derse’s moon in order to save Rose and join her.
Then the rest reminds me an awful lot of them blowing up the Tumor, and rising through the surface of the Green Sun.

(has anyone ever noticed how both Dave and Rose are associated with guitars? It’s mostly Dave but in songs like Dance Of Thorns which are about Rose there’s both violins AND guitar. It’s actually really suiting, in my opinion.)

i think rose is the quintessential derse dreamer all of a sudden
***** She's where the pseudo love craft elements settled when they were carried over from problem sleuth, and dark god elements of Derse were mainly a fulfillment of her pre-game interests, just like the other kids. She definitely set the stage by being the first Derse dreamer we saw wake up.

Well, Dave, as the Knight of Time, is more equipped to protect the Alpha Timeline, which includes the Green Sun as a large catalyst.
At some point, it sounds like 'Short Hair' from the Mulan OST. You know the part where she cuts her hair? That's what I think at least.

Wasn't Dave back on Derse, asleep, when the Green Sun was created? You know, somehow put asleep with a ball of yarn...?
No. He ended up flying into the furthest ring to (somehow) find Derse's detached moon when he realized that the Draconian Dignitary was going to kill Rose. He got there, killed DD, and then the Green Sun happened.
Oh yeah. Really was a mess with all of those clippings. Forgot Hussie had conveniently made the dignitary hitch a ride on the moon for the sole purpose of canceling Rose's attempt to save Dave's life.
This honestly sounds like it's out of legend of Zelda for the first minute. I think to a fan of both, it makes it all the both special.
I think that last part is when Dave wakes up and flies away from Derse toward its moon to save Rose from the Draconian Dignitary.

I agree in the respect that she is classified as an asymmetrical derse and as such is a little more unstable than the others. But she's still pretty awesome.
