  • A touchscreen tutorial and orientation for your new Tesla Model 3, hopefully helping to get you up to speed before your delivery day!
    Buying a Tesla? DO NOT forget to go via a referral link for 1,000 free supercharger miles. Here's mine ;) ts.la/jonathan34206
    Tesla's tutorial videos aren't exactly tailored to the UK market and with contactless deliveries meaning there are no face to face tutorials on the day, I wanted to put together a UK friendly Model 3 touchscreen overview.

    Bit of a long one this... I've added chapters so you can skip through to the bits you want to see.
    The car is parked for this video, so additional features available while driving aren't included - I'll probably do a separate (and shorter) video covering that along with the wheel and stalk commands.

    Great video, thank you very much.
    It's ironic that because you sit on the opposite side in the UK and your screen is reversed, you described the taskbar starting from the side fartherst from the driver (the sound settings), which is meant to be considered as the end of the menu (the less important menu items) . I guess it's because you read right-to-left. 😄

    Great Video, I made it all the way through. One question, listening to say Radio 2, is it via 4G or a DAB receiver?

    • @jdhartwell732
      @jdhartwell732  3 роки тому +1

      Nice one Paul! Yep, I actually made that confusing listening back... The radio tab is standard DAB, and then the "TuneIn" tab is internet radio via 4G. Hope that helps :)

    What does the 1 year premium connectivity include?
    Is it Netflix, UA-cam & Spotify?

  • @paulponting5335
    @paulponting5335 3 роки тому +1

    Great video of the features! - Is the database for the maps stored locally within the vehicle, or does it use the 4G to stream them? - If streamed, what happens when no 4G as in many areas of the UK - do you then lose nav functionality?

    • @jdhartwell732
      @jdhartwell732  3 роки тому

      Thanks Paul! I've struggled to find a definitive answer to this online, but as far as I'm aware the data for maps/nav is streamed. If 4G isn't available you'll see the signal labelled as 3G or LTE which is plenty fast enough for the map data. I've have been to areas where the signal has gone completely, although interestingly while this has resulted in my Spotify not being able to stream, the navigation/map has remained fine, so I guess there is some level of offline caching at least.
      One other thing to note, the data for maps (other than live traffic visualizations) doesn't require the premium connectivity to work - you'll always have access to it as long as the signal is available.

    • @jdhartwell732
      @jdhartwell732  3 роки тому

      Ha, well, I think with a Tesla at this stage you've just got to come to terms with the fact that there will be new non-software related updates made at a much higher rate than other cars. It's one of the main reasons I only wanted a 3 year lease, but yeah, some of the new additions would be nice for sure!

    How did you get Netflix working with premium connectivity without paying for it?

    • @jdhartwell732
      @jdhartwell732  3 роки тому

      Netflix itself I already have a subscription for. The premium connectivity (essentially internet access for the car) is what you get for one year, free of charge. After that, your choice (assuming you wanted to have Netflix/internet access) would either be to subscribe to premium connectivity (I think £10/month), or to tether your phone's connection 4G/5G connection.
