Is this camera able to record video 8 to 60 frames? Everywhere it is indicated that only 8k 30 frames.
8K 60fps yes
@@Andyax Aa new firmware came out on it - where they made 60 frames. And then I have been using kenon r5c for six months already

Great review! Would you mind sharing your auto focus settings? We’ve seen issues with how specific they can get - and are having trouble determining which is the best overall autofocus setting. Also wondering if you’ve had issues with the Z9 in NLog when hooked up to external monitors? We’ve found that small HD, osee, and atamos all have bad contrast shifts and color shifts over the HDMI out. Only while in NLog and HGL. Not in SDR oddly enough! 🤔 thank you!
You said it's not a review but you ended up making the best review of them all for the z9. I have this Camera for the last 7 months and it's absolutely the best in the current market.....
This is a very polished non review. It's every time fun to watch the results of the professionalism of this team. Even the casual shots seem to be well prepared and arranged. The scenes are impressive. It's a great camera.
Quality is so amazing that it's almost like looking through a window. I own the Z8 and recently started recording video and I am amazed.

I'm commenting on Nikon's channels, too, begging them to sponsor more content on shooting, monitoring, importing and grading N-Raw. Please follow up with a pitch and get it done!
One thing that I have observed with my Z8 is that putting IBIS in Sport mode helps A LOT when handheld. I think normal mode is better for photos but not so much for video as it adds that stepping when you are moving around handheld. Try it in sport mode and see the difference, for me it is game changing.

Great video! I been Nikon for so long hoping they would awaken from their video slumber and finally come out with something competitive. The Z9 is insanely good and you forgot to mention one of the biggest things I think is important - no overheating on the first version, no telling customers just to turn it off for 10min and then no versions with fat heatsinks and fans on the outside!!! I think that speaks volumes about commitment to quality. Only reason I have held off is because I shoot gymbal video and feel this thing is a bit heavy to mount to a Ronin - maybe with a body-rig.
It is heavy, true, but I shoot it on a gimbal a lot and it works fine. I use a side handle for better weight distribution. The AF is awesome to work with. The weight is actually really nice if you shoot handheld, in combination with the IBIS footage looks really good.
It’s also weather sealed, unlike most cinema cameras.
@@jesseyules Weather sealing is pointless when shooting video with all these accessories and cables. After all you open the sealing to plug the cables, hahaha
@@dicekolev5360 of course if you use accessories but by itself, it can shoot videos without the need for external accessories for recording

Loved this, thanks guys. I just started playing with video In the Z9 (I'm mostly a stills photographer) love it so far, massive files, but great footage to play with, and the stabilisation is better than I thought.
Thanks. The files are actually not too big considering it's 12-bit RAW. As mentioned in the video: 4K N-RAW 25FPS is 2,5GB per minute.
@@Andyax yer I had it set to high quality, so that was my mistake 😂 normal looked great, so I'll use that going forward 🙌🏻
@@ChrisDavisStudio Hehe. Yeah, then the files are twice as big. I doubt people see any difference from normal quality to high quality.

Very Nice!!
Nikon has that color science of being really punchy/saturated but not forced or over saturated. Skin tones and overall look is gorgeous. But it’s a look that many art directors and artists don’t choose. Nikon has been sandwiched and marketed in the wrong direction for many years. I’ve been shooting for over 25 years. When I graduated college in 2000 I assisted pros for eight years, this is a practice not followed by many of todays “professionals”. In that timeframe, I would say 5% of the commercial photographers I assisted used Nikon when they weren’t shooting medium format, and in the last 10 years, I only know three working photographers that shoot Nikon and all three of them photograph weddings(not saying that as a negative statement). I don’t know a single working professional that uses Nikon for video work. Not even a hybrid shooter. I’m impressed that they are still in the mix.
Weddings videograpphers and photographers are the biggest pro around the world.
I think the poppy positive colours really worked for this travel / commercial film.
Probably not to my personal taste but not to say they couldn't be graded differently.

The one thing I do love about super high resolution is that I can watch this in 360p and it's still high quality. 4K footage, I still watch in 720p or 1080p depending on the bit rate. 360p looks like 1080p on a smartphone.
Sport mode is best for video stabilization if you're doing any camera movement. For absolutely static shots, normal mode is ok.
Hi Eric. Are you sure about that? I think we figured out that normal mode was best for moving camera.
I am curious to see what other 8k video options are going to come out this year. Guessing a Lumix S1H II or a Pocket 8k... But Nikon hasnt gotten nearly enough praise for this Z9. Only thing it is missing I feel is the recording option to ssd via usbc, which should be a no brainer with 8k60 RAW....
It’s not missing that I use Zikay ssd to cfexpress works seemless I use version 1 saw version 2 on Amazon saves me a ton of money and speed is same as 1500+ cards

The video I was waiting for. As a Nikon User its really nice to see that it works so well. I think its the best hybrit System availible atm. The only "downside" is the heavy price tag. But, 8k 120 RAW internal... thats insane.
it doesn't do 8 K 120... but it does 4-120...

You are right! I haven't been able to find enough videos of Nikon Z9! Would you be able to compare it with Sony a7sIII or FX6? Many come from the Sony side. I personally found that the Nikon Z9 (maybe due to sensor size) and its lenses seemed to make colors and people 'pop' out, looking 3D.

Great information on a non review, but actual behind the scenes on how how you used the Z9!! I have only done short clips with my Z9 and looking to incorporate into my knowledge. I am looking for a camera/travel back back and wanted to ask what you all used in trip ? Any issues with the airlines on your bags? Great info on video and the advice on setup!
I just read this was done with firmware 2.0 and wanted to ask what your thoughts are with the newer 3.0/3.1 updates? I have found the 3.0 was a major update in Wildlife tracking!

Firmware 3.0, does the new AirGlu timecode over Bluetooth work with the Ninja V and Sync module or just the UltraSync Blue?
More people should do non review videos like this. More entertaining and better to actually just look at the footage created with the camera.

Jeg tenker å kjøpe A7s III, fordi jeg føler det er det rette kameraet for meg, men jeg blir fristet til å gå for dette. Jeg synes Sony sine farger er litt... meeh. Nikon ser ut tuil å ha svært rike naturlige farger. Bra video, fikk lust til å reise dit selv. De bildene fra toppen av fjellet , der du så hele byen er helt utrolig! :-)

Enig, Nikon sine farger er fantastiske. Hvis du vil kan du laste ned noen av RAW filene vi filmet og teste i DaVinci. Du kan laste de ned fra lenken øverst i kommentarfeltet.

Great stuff ! I’m on the fence about sending all my Sony gear back and moving to z9 to use as a hybrid, I’m curious why only Nikon users are using the da Vinci software and not the typical premier or after effects? Will these files not work with other software
Im wondering whats your go to camera now? Was it the gh6 because you used to have gh5? Have you moved on to other brands? Or does it depends on the projects now?
Personally I don't need raw -- 10-bit 422 is fine, but I do need good AF, and the Z9 just isn't quite there yet. But I will say the Z9s colours and oversampled IQ are fantastic.

Superb Andy, UA-cam really knows how to read my mind. I was just thinking of checking out one of your videos. Z9 seems fantastic. Other than the IBIS, I think it's pretty close to the Canon R5C in specs, and perhaps has some better features. On another note, would love to hear your opinion (in a different video) on the budget anamorphic options that have cropped up through the past few years (Sirui, Great Joy, Laowa, Moment etc) :)

I have a question. You mentioned about your workflow of Premiere -> Da Vinci -> Premiere. What codec format did you export from Da Vinci before importing in PP for final export. Does this lower any quality considering you export the footage 2 times. One in DaVinci and Final in Premiere.
Hi. We exported with GoPro CineForm codec from DaVinci to not loose any quality. That worked well :)

Personally I think that any mirrorless camera nowadays is very good, die only issue with Nikon is the price, vs getting the same specs from Canon for much cheaper.

The Canon R5 specs quite the same, and is much more affordable. Maybe you guys should do a review on that if possible! Would be awesome!

Hello, can you modify ISO in post with N-Raw? Thank you! Love your videos!
No, you can’t modify ISO in post, but Nikon has stated that using the exposure slider in the RAW panel in Davinci substitutes the ISO setting. They claim that the Exposure slider reacts and treats the footage the same as changing the ISO value in post.
I’ve tested their claim and it definitely lines up!
