What did you study to be a data scientist and to what level?

I did bsc applied maths and computer science , then honours in with machine learning , but I know people that did stats working as data scientists

The honours was around nextworking ( cloud , fog , SDN etc) but machine learning I did on my research then I continued with machine learning to masters
