LYRICS
[Verse 1]
Shake off the pain
Get back on your feet again
It flooded when you prayed for rain
You prayed for rain
The well's runnin’ dry
Hell, so am I
I won't give up this time
No, not this time
[Chorus]
'Cause all my friends, we were born survivors
And every time I close my eyes, I’m dreamin' 'bout tomorrow
You know some things will never change
I think about it when I pray for rain
[Verse 2]
The rain turned to hail
Cold, dark, and pale
It beat me as I fell
Lord, I fell
The sun sets
And twilight hugs the ground
Oh, we won't let lonely bring us down
Bring us down
[Chorus]
'Cause all my friends, we were born survivors
And every time I close my eyes, I'm dreamin' 'bout tomorrow
You know some things will never change
I think about it when I pray for rain
Oh, some things will never change
Think about it when you pray for rain
Pray for rain
[Verse 3]
Shake off the pain (Shake off the pain)
Get back on your feet again (Back on your feet again)
It flooded when you prayed for rain
You prayed for rain
Well, [if it’s ever?] too late
Well, hell will have to wait
Well, it won’t get me today
Oh, not today
[Chorus]
All my friends, we were born survivors
And every time I close my eyes, I'm dreamin’ 'bout tomorrow
You know some things will never change
I think about it when I pray for rain
Oh, some things will never change
I think about it when I pray for rain
[Outro]
'Cause all my friends, we were born survivors
And every time we close our eyes, we're dreamin’ 'bout tomorrow

The fact that this only has 704 views is a crime against humanity! Paul is hands down one of my favorites to come down the pike in recent years. Not only are his songs FANTASTIC, I really wanna party with this guy.
Hell yeah! I don’t dance OR do cocaine anymore but I’m ready to bring it all back!😀
couple more now
It had just came out daddy chill
This is the ART I want in my life. Thank you again
Dude, I didn’t even listen to country ... I wouldn’t even give it a chance until Alexa played this song out of the blue ... mind blown and down the rabbit hole I go .. love the sound, share it with everyone I know . Much love
Check our zach bryan. Totally different sound from Paul but also a lyrical genius
Same here! But I was listening to some "country-like" music before (Wovenhand, 16 Horsepower) which was pretty strange for a metal-head, world music and "strange music" (like Tom Waits, Major Parkinson), etc. listener. I think great music is not defined by genre! :-) and some music has no genre and is just great and very special. For example I think Paul's music is not the classic "country music" but just one of its kind with its roots in country, rock, pop, etc., etc. Never heard anything special like this. His voice, the beat, the melodies, all very unique.
No doubt! Paul is nuts man.
I can't get enough of this one. 🌧🌧🔥🔥
Killing it brother, keep em coming
Great video work, and a great song by Paul Cauthen...but the audio mastering needs work. The whole recording presented here sounds muffled.
Quite possibly one of the greatest songs ever written
This song is church to me. Thank you for your poetry. It brings out that afterglow.
Thank you 🙌🏽🙏🏼💚💖🇧🇷
Stunning tune and room 41 a classic. Looking forward to seeing Paul live in Ireland hopefully...
Lost in the incredible depth.
Johnny and Waylon had a love child named Paul Cauthen! Thanks!
His songwriting is some of the best ever!
This is dope bro! Congrats on the wedding too!
So beautiful 💖💖💖💖

in 1993, Nirvana sat down on the stage of MTV Unplugged and performed what I felt was their best work, and best album. The simple format showcased pure raw talent. This is your 1993. I have followed you for a long time. Absolutely stunning. Thank you.
💖
I’m a bit of a late bloomer with Paul’s music but I thought for sure this was some obscure Waylon Jennings cover I’d never heard. I bet Hoss is smiling down on what this dude is doing.
One of the best songs of my generation and I just hope it can touch as many others as deeply as I connect to this song is my morning prep song my pickup song in the middle of a slow days work my anthem for when I’m drinking with my brothers this is what Michigan needs
Paul Cauthen is the David Bowie of country.
Beautiful man!!
If I don't get to see Paul live in 2022 I'm going to cry
PC acústico é sacanagem. Chega arrepia os cabelo do braço
Yeah Paul! Support real country music!
Saw him in Omaha last night awesome show.
Got that Johnny Cash darkness to it. Need more like this
