      They are very surprised how good they are doing considering I didn't do anything with the bed no feed etc. that tire was an absolute nightmare 😂 think I will have to reuse it. Glad you are enjoying the updates thanks.

    I have been doing no dead gardening for six years now when we bought our house in May 2018, I discovered very quickly that we live on a river bed so there’s nothing but pebbles and rocks no soil so yeah I like no dig. I found that everything seems to grow a lot better on no dig because you’re not killing the mycorrhiza the fungus and all the other lifeforms and stuff that’s growing in the soil every time you either Dig or just turn over your bed every year about compost to all of my beds.

    My method is only plant what you are going to eat, just plant more of it and save money, your spuds are way better than mine and they went in later than mine, you are doing great.

      I think that's what I am going to do. Everything we go in I eat will try the odd different thing see if we like it. I don't get how good my spuds have been looking I havnt done anything with them

    Wow, what was there before the alotments? There is a lot of plastic and rubble in the ground. On the bright side, in the end You will have a lot of honour from Your hard work. You make a big difference with everything You do 👍

      From what I know there was a stable with one horse on there but half of what's on there you would think it was a car garage. I can't wait till it's all done and clear and I can look back on it and feel proud. Thanks

    Trust me, you are very lucky that that shovel handle was not made of wood. I tried prying up a rock one time and the shovel handle broke and the handle I was holding in my hand and the sharp stick attached to it smacked me square in the middle of the forehead. Required three stitches. Did I tell you I’m absolutely loving your channel?

    A simple but effective rodent trap. 1 bucket, 1 beverage can, 1 stick or piece of rod.
    Put holes top and bottom of the container, offset, large enough to allow the container to swivel. 2 holes, directly opposite of each other through the top edged of the bucket to hold the rod/stick.
    Fill the bucket half way with water, thread the rod through one side of the bucket, then through the beverage container, then through the opposite side.
    Put bait on the can/container. Add some sort of ramp. Rodents go for the bait, can swivels, rodent end up in water never to go anywhere again.
    If your neighbours do the same thing, then the rodents should be far less.
    I use peanut butter as bait. Works for mice and rats.

      Thanks they are just so smart how they figure things out there is a few plots with chickens on so they get drawn to there's just hopefully they leave my bean and pea seed alone. Thanks for the detailed instructions definitely screen shooting it and saving it

    Lovely Northeast weather Anthony mate, ya cant beat it 🤣🤣🤣. Do you not get wood pigeons where your allotment is ? Ya spuds are looking good, Slugs munching ya marigolds and people say plant marigolds in brassica beds to deter the slugs, guess thats wrong eh😉. Its a shame that people bury stuff instead of just taking it to the local tip. But on the brighter side, you will have the satisfaction when the plot is fnished that you took your time and done things correctly, a lot of people would have just put cardboard and compost over that wheel and planted out or direct sowed into it. Shame about the slugs munching on your sunflower, someone snapped the head off one of my sunflowers, the one i am growing for our site competition, the one i have grown for yours is ok and still growing well at the minute. well done mate, Look forward to watching the next video

    • @JacobsonFamilyAllotment
      @JacobsonFamilyAllotment  5 місяців тому +1

      😂 aye the weather is lovely isn't it. There is plenty wood pigeons around the area but I haven't seen them round the plot. Proud of them spuds surprised they haven't been eaten by slugs like some people's. The marigolds have at least stopped other things getting munched and just them just have to buy the grown ones from the garden centre. I was just going to put the cardboard and the compost on but I had to make sure ground was clear for the future and lucky I did. The tips just at Blaydon too so like 10 mins away. So do you think it's sabotage them with the sunflower.

    • @Jimmy.Plot.41.b
      @Jimmy.Plot.41.b 5 місяців тому +1

      @@JacobsonFamilyAllotment Definitely sabotage Anthony, its only the sunflower for our site comp that got damaged, even my plot neighbours either side of me have had their site comp sunflowers snapped. Rats have been at my mains in tubs, looks like they have jumped up, burrowed down in the compost and ate the tubers, so now i am scouring the internet for more seed potatoes, wouldnt care but i had a good few left and gave them away, sods law eh haha

    When it comes to drillbits, I’m a big fan of Milwaukee. I don’t know if you get that brand in the UK or not however, my dad taught me that you get what you pay for. Spend a few extra bucks on a really good drillbit and it’ll last forever.
