My mom had breast cancer when I was young and, before the world of cheap prosthetics, she sewed rice into the empty cup of her bra. She used to say she was afraid of getting caught in the rain because the rice would swell. She could "take 1st and last place in a wet T-Shirt contest!" That woman could turn any tragedy into a joke and it blessed every one of us 🥰

What a great conversation. Roseanne is disparaged so often as being crazy or dumb and she's clearly neither and seeing her engage with Jordan, it's clear she's incisive, deep and intelligent. I'm not surprised of course, because comedy of her caliber takes enormous intelligence. Carol Burnett has said, "Comedy is tragedy plus time." Humor HEALS.

Two people I hold in very high regard who can both ascend to heavenly realms and appreciate Trailer Park Boys. Flannery O’Connor stated that the sacred and profane are not dissimilar, or something close to that. It’s not the same, but similar to the idea that sexuality and spirituality are kissing cousins, as M Scott Peck lectured. I’m presently writing a "Novel / Play wherein the innards of the theme, the gold and scarlet warp yarn that runs through, well, the yarn I’ve spun, is best described as the marriage of Flannery O’Connor to Charles Bukowski.

Recently I have seen Roseanne become more and more prevalent on UA-cam, being interviewed by various content creators. When I saw this interview with Jordan Peterson, I thought that if anyone could bring out the real Roseanne, it would be Mr. Peterson. I must say, I was impressed.
To say that I had an idea of who Roseanne was, is to say I know what it's like to be a woman...not even the slightest idea. Obviously Roseanne's roles on TV, as well as the narrative that has been spun against her, is what formulated what little I did know about her. Sufficed to say, I have a newfound respect for the woman. She is well spoken and a person I would enjoy having a conversation with.
Thank you for sharing this Mr. Peterson. I like to think I'm open minded...striving to find the truth...yet I still hold onto some old biases, from years ago. Reevaluation...always...is something we should all consider. Part of becoming awakened...not woke.

Our scariest time for my Daughter and myself turned out too be our funniest 5 months ever. During our stay in the UCLA Santa Monica Hospital. My Daughter was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. We lived in Las Vegas, I never went back to work and stayed in her room , sleeping in a cot that was half my size. I would come bed time , get into my cot, and we would both start laughing. Me a big guy in a little bed and her being petite in a large bed.
During our stay we went to a seminar on pain management with marijuana oil. I took some first to see how powerful it was. Then gave her 10% of what I took. At first she got paranoid. Then had too walk her through her experiences on weed oil. I shared with her , think funny and watch Comedy. Things got too a point, we were laughing all night. Night time was for taking marijuana oil. I never left her side and escorted her to radiation treatment. We went home for a week then returned for her Chemotherapy treatments. Threw all this we we’re always joking with each other and with the nurses and doctors. I can’t do this anymore.

Sorry to hear of the death of your mother, Dr Peterson. She must have been so proud of you and must have done a great job raising such a wonderful son. I enjoyed this interview. I really admire good comedians, it must be so hard to go out on stage and make people laugh for 90 minutes. It was good to hear that Dr Peterson is a Monty Python fan, they were way ahead of their time and their sketches have not dated at all. Also good to hear that "We Who Wrestle With God" is now finished, can't wait to read it when it comes out in November. Totally agree with Roseanne Barr with regard to lefty woke types being humourless.

I wasn't expecting to feel tearful when they were discussing comedy, but I was. There's something so poignant about the moment of pure creation, when she was describing God writing the jokes for her. I'm an artist and I can certainly attest that my best work was made precisely when I felt I wasn't doing much. It's as if you're just an instrument and something bigger than you flows through you. I'm exceedingyl grateful to be able to ever feel that and I love listening to other creators share how their experience is so similar. There is something awe inspiring about that, about being able to connect with creation itself and how everyone else somehow senses that and connects to it as well. Great talk.

Wish my mom was still around this see Roseanne's continued journey. As a single mother with 3 kids on food stamps and welfare in 1980s Alabama, TV and movies were one of the bigger joys in her life. The og Roseanne show was such a breath of fresh air at the time, and showed what real working class life was like....raw, gritty, but full of humor and love at the end of the day. My mom was so inspired by her and I saw a new woman. And at 43, a 6'2" 250 lb ex sailor and construction worker, she is still inspiring me and helping me be fearless to this day.

My understand of "comedy", through my life.
As a child, I believed it was slapstick. I loved The 3 Stooges, and OMG Jerry Lewis had me in absolute stitches. Robin Williams' innocent humour that he displayed from whatever stage he was standing on.. had me at "Nanoo Nanoo".
As I grew older, I've loved Billy Connelly ever since i could understand him.
Through the decades, Rosanne of "Rosanne", had me relating in so many ways! I've laughed, cried and goddammit, I've cursed her AND her character! Haha.
We used to set my daughters nighttime feed by the theme song of Rosanne - my baby Button would wake up every time she heard Rosanne's laugh at the end of the opening theme! (Clearly was an omen!❤)
The quality and depth behind every single one of these people, they are so much MORE switched on and aware of the deeper impacts of the elitism and money driven control.
I'm so glad Rosanne has refused to go silently into the night!!
(And I'm Aussie! If I can see it from all the way over here.. I just can't fathom how some people around the globe are still walking around with their blinkers on, only bringing their heads out of the sand long enough to deflect and put someone who literally SEES their pathetic-ness.. before burying it again, supposedly protecting their feelings from the blatant facts!!
Thank you Mr. Peterson, for continuing to bring Rosanne forward for those of us who love to hear from her! 🙌🙌❤️❤️
