Not her best performance but she has beautiful lines and skating skills. The program needs mileage to gel. I believe it could be a masterpiece signature program for her leading up to the Olympics. She really is a joy to watch.
Her chances for the Olympics are very slim. Kamila, Daria, Anna, Sasha, Maya and possibly Lisa are ahead of her right now... I am not even sure Russia will get 3 spots for the Olympics... although they should. So Aliona really has a tough battle ahead, if she wants to compete there.

I agree, if she can perfect these programs, add more technicality and get her 3a back by Olympic season, she may have a chance.
Uhhh I think her moving to Plushenko was a mistake, I may not agree with some of Eteri’s training but I felt that when all of the 3A where with her at least they had a fair chance to win, it all came down to their individual performances, but their programs highlighted the best of them somehow, with Plushenko now she feels neglected, he is betting it all on Sasha and not really caring about Alyona, you could just see it on the K&C, Plushenko didn’t even knew how to react while she was crying
So you don’t see much of skating? Plushenko NEVER reacts when someone is crying, not even with Sasha...so put to rest the paranoic BS. Plus, it wasn’t Eteri that help her with 3A, it was Rozanov, that is her actual coach....and their programs highlighted? I didn’t know the same old and boring choreo steps for the three girls was highlight anything
@@angieortizurena3327 omg I been a big fan of plushenko since Torino when I see him live skating, I also have been skating for many years, what I said is that you can clearly see Plushenko favors Sasha, I know Rosanov help with the training of Alyona, but Plushenko should be more involved, you can see his reactions whenever Sashas scores are showed, he even clearly disagree with the judges not long ago regarding Sasha’s scores and from yesterday you could see that he was not saying anything to Alyona, he is her coach too, not only Rosanov, I mean it’s his academy,. I’m not saying Alyona should stay with Eteri but maybe it wasn’t the smartest move to change to Plushenko at the same time Sasha did, I mean both of them wanted more attention from a coach, which I understand since they are so close to Olympic season, what I said is that all the girls training under Eteri seem to have a fair chance of winning if they perfom clean their programs and as you could see it was always like that last season, the winner was the one skating clean, even Alyona without quads manage to stay always on top. I know Alyona had it very difficult this season with the late change and COVID, so I don’t really see where your rude comment is coming from since I’m only saying my personal opinion for what I’ve seen this season.
@@sabitras3725 I don’t think you’re clear with the situation. Plushenko is not Alena’s coach, Rozanov is. It’s for both Sasha and Alena’s best interest to be coached by different coaches, so that they can receive their undivided attention. Plushenko said that he wanted to leave more room for Alena and her main coach (they seem to have a really supportive and close relationship) so he reacted that way in kiss and cry, and I think that’s an acceptable explanation

Yeah she hurt her elbow but that look like it hurt her right leg too, to was at a very bad angle at one point, I'm surprise she didn't break it in that fall. I understand why she was doing singles in the warm up, she's still quite tired after workouts, so she didn't want to push lots of triples in the warm up and be tired in the program itself.

Honestly what’s with Plushenko’s attitude towards her? He makes it so obvious that he doesn’t give a shit about her. It’s almost like Rozanov is her only coach while Plushenko has to be there bc of the contracts or something.

Apart from the unfortunate mistakes in the second half, this program is absolutely stunning. Beautiful music, artistry, costume and presentation... when skated clean this will be incredible, 3A or not. I think this is a keeper for the olympic season!
Unfortunately She still struggels with triple jumps combination... As much as I love her she has no chance without a 3A and Valieva will be eligible... So the worlds were her last chance and she knew that😞

Changing both programs, in the middle of the season, wasn't good idea, especially after covid- break. Alyona's SP is good, but needs more time. It seems to me that Plushy is all for Sasha ( calling her his ''queen'', openly supporting her at K & C) while he left Alyona to Rozanov.
This!!! I think exactly the same, I feel like her going to Plushenko was a mistake, he is all over Sasha due to the jumps, he does not care about Alyona and is betting it all on Sasha
I don't see how Plushenko can be all for Sasha, as obviously he invests in Aliona and his reputation is also connected to her. I think he may have given her and Rozanov too much freedom and choices, and she, like most Russian female skaters is used to more supervision and multiple coaches. She needs 110% commitment to figure skating, and she probably took some breaks and Rozanov is not a very strict coach... a lesson for them all.

If she stayed with her former coaches, she wouldn't have had this disappinting moment. She had one more season to get medals. It was so strange when she left her former team being a champion of Europe. In Olympic year there are other talents and stronger skaters there and it will be really tough to compete with them.
If she had stayed with Eteri she would be doing what Zagitova or Medvedeva are doing now. Her former coach, as you call her, is a coach for children and has never produced a champion who is older than 17. Lipnitskaya retired at 16 and Zagitova at 17.

She once said in an interview that the first difficult jump she gained back after long holiday would be 3F+3T, but it didn't work yesterday. This season is just not for her unfortunately, starting with late start (due to coaching change), injury, contracting covid, relearning 2 new programs, etc. Not sure as well with her current conditioning, but based on the training session, warm-up and actual performance itself I think she has not returned back to her old self. I hope the bad performance didn't affect her self confidence. Just focus on the FP and deliver clean FP. Also can I say that I prefer this SP miles better than the previous one? it shows how important music choice is and for Aliona, classical and lyrical style will accentuate her strength more.
I did not really know why she changed the short program. The previous one ("You Should See Me in a Crown") was sassy and Alena clearly enjoyed skating it.
I disagree with the short program change I think she skates better and actually feels the music with a jazzy pop song but that's just my opinion
Yeah but it was too soon just after the twilight program for me. Both have the same teenager vibe to it and call me old fashioned but I like classical style skating. I like a skating to modern music but not to Billie Eilish song, unless it's a gala.
I know she had covid but why is she still so far behind? These are young healthy girls here not 50 yr olds with comorbidities . Something isn’t right. Why the new sp at the end of the season? I’m not a fan of the 1 she started with but why change now? There’s just a lot that’s not adding up.

Yesterday, on February 27 (Kostornaia at 6th place) Pluschenko said, "Kostornaia had angina right after covid, we didn't even want to let her compete". So... I smell lies
I cannot believe that Aliona contracted Covid19. God Bless Her for fighting through this horrible virus. Unfortunately I think that her tiny body needs more time for her to heal and gain her stamina and strength back. Her triple axle was the best of any of the ladies in 2019 and her triple flip combination has always been perfect. I’ve never seen her miss that combo in any of her programs. That’s always been her money maker so to speak. I’m praying that she heals. She will fight and train hard. I have no doubt in my mind. She will be in the best shape for the 2022 Olympic Games with her triple axle back. Sergei was the one who taught her to jump the 3A so beautifully, I have NO doubt that he will work with her to get it back. My heart goes out to her and I’m praying that she fully recovers from Covid. 🙏🏻❤️

I don't think it is Plushenko to blame... she had lost her jumps while at Eteri and that is why she changed coaches. She changed coaches in August because she has not regained her jumps and because she was not being helped at Eteri's... there she is completely replaceable by design. Eteri cannot coach and bring to victory a skater who is older that 17...

@@flankerpraha how do you know the difference? There might be multiple factors book is unkind as well as uninformed to talk about Covid like all you kids are running your mouths? Have you seen 21-year-olds having multiple pulmonary embolisms because of Covid? Because it’s happening. Some of these people have long-term side effects. Some of them will have permanent effects. For athletes those kinds of things can break your performance. They already have such a small margin for error. Arm chairs for watching not for diagnosing thanks.

please note that in russian Tonsillitis is called Angina. Not the heart disease. just throat. However it is very common post-covid symptom to have a inflammation and fatigue in various areas. I've experienced it many times since I had Covid. Anna Scherbakova still had fatigue last time in Channel One Cup. She willed herself through it, but you could see she barely made it. Another minute and she would have collapsed

It might be because classical music tends to fit the judges' music preference more. this modern Billie Eilish music contemporary type style doesn't resonate as well with them (VP of Rusfed also made a comment basically saying this as well). For the free program, I think they just didn't like it? neither did a lot of her fans, and it didn't suit her very well, so I think we all knew a free program change was coming. I think changing the fp was necessary but not the short... in a span of under 2 months while shes still recovering too. She posted training vids of her practicing YYSMIAC stsq and choreo literally this month... so she would have learned the 4 seasons program in less than 30 days?? Bad choice on their part tbh. She really sold the YYSMIAC too.

Because a lot of Russian hated her old programs, her dresses, her haircut, her hair color everything about her........ there were a lot of silly and angry comments towards Alyona, I saw all this shit , and I’m sure she did hear something too. A lot of Alina Zagitova fans hate Alyona because Alyona won Zagitova. Plus Tutberidze fans hate her because she left Tutberidze. They are crazy. I am very sorry for all this hate towards Alyona.

She still has a year to prepare for the Russian Nationals and Olympics Qualification. But remember, Sasha and Anna turns 17 prior to the Olympics and that age is Eteri's expiry date and Aliona's 17 so she needs to fight hard and maintain her skating quality. 🙌🏻😇 Let's pray for Aliona's free skate 💛

no, only 10 months before Russian Nat, and there's like around 5 months only of actual competitions both domestic and international. That's not a lot of time. She needs this spot now and Aliona knows it. In the months preceding Olympics 2018, the third spot was fought over RusNats since this will also determine who they will send to Europeans.

There is really no point in going back to Eteri guys.. why do you think she left in the first place? It definitely couldn't have been because she was skating really good with them at that time. The team is probably was putting their attention to Kami and Dasha who are going to be seniors soon there's no room for her then in that camp and there remains to be none now.
The core of Eteri's training system is tough competition within the team. Competition among the strongest, i.e. among true rivals for the Worlds and Olympics. Day by day skaters may compare their progress to that of their main competitors. Once you don't feel ready for this competition and want a special treatment you can't continue in this team and you have to leave because you can't benefit from it any longer. There are no preferences and no exceptions, that's the main principle. Once you step down from the 1st place you must forget that you are a champion and resume hard work to prove otherwise. It's tough but Russia only has three spots for this enormous army of talented skaters. So the best must lose and cry, too. The strongest will get the chance.
Yes, Eteri is children's coach. She has not produced a champion who is above 17 years old. Lipnitskaya retired at 16, Zagitova at 17 after a painful Grand prix last year, and replaced by the 3As. Now the oldest of the 3As, who will be 18 soon is struggling to keep her jumps and compete with the next batch of 14 year olds. This is Eteri's model, explicitly blessed by the Russian figure skating federation. I wonder if Anna and Sasha will retire next year when they reach 17.
@@evamasters5028 nonsense. Elizabeth Tursynbaeva was 19 when she got her silver medal at WC in Saytama eith Eteri. With Orser she was 12 th at Olympics abd 11 th at WC. How many older female skatets win the gold in the world? Tara Lypinsky won the Olympic medal at the age 15. And nobody even reminds about that 😀.
Yes... but Tursynbaeva is not Russian and came back in top shape after training with Orser. For less then a season Eteri managed to completely wreck her. Poor child, shouldn't have returned to Eteri. Now she will not be able to bend for the rest of her life due to Eteri's training methods.

And it's their choice to make it or leave it. Tursynbaeva is an adult, she decided for herself for sure. It was her choice to train quads. That's why she went where she could learn quads. That's it. Besides, her federation paid for her. So they could have given her better advice if they had had it.

She is not so diamond in fact. Diamond is Tutberidze, who upgraded her from the very bottom of pre junior figure skating to the very top where Anna and Trusova are. Sadly Alëna has imagined that she is a diamond herself and this destroyed her career.

This is an exceptional case in which Sasha maintains her skills even if she leaves Eteri.
It is called puberty. Eteri does not deal with puberty. It took Tuktamysheva 2 years to overcome it. She missed 2018 Olympics. Puberty takes no prisoners

I wonder if she that earlier injury is still causing her trouble, or even the after Covid brain fog (which I definitely had)? A 2A instead of her gorgeous 3A (which she really needs to compete with the quad kids)... and even her decision to tack on the double wasn't the best, although there's not much else she could have done given her single jump was already done. I hope she pulls through and comes back stronger next season!

That is easy, she had never, ever had SSq2. maybe 6 years back, at age 11, before she got to ET. That fact alone says it all. And now she has SSq2 both Short and free programs.
Short programs were her place to shine, that is where she used to get + 7 or 9 points lead from Trusova and Sherbakova. Pure simple math, And she did it with only 2 elements that she excelled with, both built, raised and perfected by ET ( in Russia everybody knows that Kostornaya is lazy, Alena herself stated it number of times , that Etteri had to constantly push her to train and do more elements) . So elements that she had :
3A and step sequences, as simple as that. (She had never had 3Lz+3Ritberger like Sherbakova/Trusova, the only thing she could gain points were 3A and SSq4) . Well now both of these elements are gone. She doesn't have any quads, no hard score cascades, so she is doomed. Now she can smile and laugh, but outside the KAK zone, because inside the KAK zone she will cry.
Congrats to mr Long Nose, for ruining another successful skater, and all that only as a war against Etteri. Kostornaya is not Trusova in character ( Trusova by herself wanted to do all quads, attempted more and more hardcore programs, wanted to be first at everything she does) .
Please don't tell me about Covid19- she was ill 2 month ago without any problems ( the entire national team of Russia was ill). Her performance was nothing more than 6th place. Maya Xromih beat her up which had never happened before.

That resulted in shaky 3+2, and SSQ2 both short and free programs.

We should give plushenko and aliona a little bit more time. I believe when she moved to plushenko it was the time when everyone was quarantine plus the puberty that's been hitting her is definitely part of the reason why she slightly regressed. Also, maybe its the nerves that got to her since its her first competition in a while
I think she's just really unlucky this season the time when she got injured and got ill was right when big competitions happened :(

I was sad to see her struggle today with what should have been an easy program for her. I can read Russian and seeing the level of hate Eteribots are pouring over her on Russian sites is disturbing... I hope she can move pass that and make up her mind if she wants to continue skating or not... she needs motivation and hard work, not new programs. I think it was waste of effort to change her short now. The new program is beautiful but she only needed to do her jumps and elements flawlessly and her previous program would have worked fine. I hope she can recover and return triumphantly on the rink. She is so talented and deserves a long career.
Agreed. I also read russian and I am so angry that those people are so hateful towards her. She is a beautiful skater and a fighter. Actually russian haters behave this way towards most of the elder skaters. The same people hate Medvedeva, Tuktamysheva and even Trusova. Basically they hate everyone who isn't 15 anymore and who isn't in Tutberidze team. It's so sad, that this beautiful sport comes to politics.
She showed to be extremely arrogant and dismissive of reality and reason. And then going to Plushi was a horrible mistake! I believe she is staying with him is because she is in love with Rozanov, who is not doing great either.

With her first SP, the Billie Eilish, it was much better as she was enjoying it and expressing the music and choreography. This performance was phoned in. Idk what this stseq was supposed to contain as this was the first time I saw the program. But it wasn't of course designed as lvl2...
