You don’t know me to make assumptions, but my Major was International Relations in college and I saw what happened during Eurovision and have a right to comment
There’s also the conflict and previous war (which was as recently as 2023) between Armenia and Azerbaijan, both of which are in Eurovision, just like Russia and Ukraine, while not as bad, it’s definitely hypocritical, especially since thousands of Armenians were left homeless, and many slain, not to mention that the border crisis is also still ongoing, it’s by no means as big as the Russia conflict, but it just proves that Eurovision is no stranger to hypocrisy… I’m no expert in this subject, I’d like to mention, but I can still see that there’s something wrong with how Eurovision treats some participants… Then there is also the fact that Israel is a huge supplier to one of the biggest sponsors in Eurovision, that being Morrocanoil… which might be why they got to stay in the competition…

Exactly! Where does Israel bully?! Haven’t they learn from history! Why would they switch roles and create so much violence, pain and hate. The evidence published by expert analysts that hold no bias that the original poster keeps on deleting: - Israel controls the daily water supply of Palestine for years. They receive less than a refugee camp in such a desert region. - Israel is racist against their own people - if you’re not an Ashkenazi - they treat you like less. You’re stripped away from your roots like not being able to speak your country’s language or reproductive rights like Ethiopian Jews were treated - the apartheid law treats Palestinian less. Like the West Bank - where Hamas doesn’t even exists - illegal settlements continue to happen. Palestinians are robbed from their homes and nothing happens to the Israelis that do the robbery. If a Palestine dares to fight back and defend their home - they can get murdered and nothing happens to those murderers
That's a good question, really. All I know is that Israel is a member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) which puts on the Eurovision Song Contest. Australia also is a participant and they're not "Europe", either.
Israel in general participates in European regional organizations rather than ones that belong to its geographic region. This is true with sports as well. Israel implements discriminatory planning policies and land confiscation in order to effectively bar Palestinian from living there, the Israeli state directly controls 93% of the land in the country, including occupied East-Jeruzalem. The ILA manages and allocates these lands, half of its members belong to the JNF whose explicite mandate is to develop and lease land for Jews and not any other segment of the population. The Israeli government restricts the movement of Palestinians, while they make up 21% of the population, in 2017 less than 3 percent of all land in Israel falls under the jurisdiction of Palestinian municipalities. Since 1948, the government has authorized the creation of more than 900 “Jewish localities” in Israel, but none for Palestinians except for a handful of government-planned townships and villages in the Negev and Galilee, created largely to concentrate previously dispersed Bedouin communities. The authorities have zoned large sections of Palestinian towns and villages for “agricultural” use or as “green” areas, prohibited residential building in them, and built road and other infrastructure projects that impede expansion. A 2003 Israeli government-commissioned report found that “many Arab towns and villages were surrounded by land designated for purposes such as security zones, Jewish regional councils, national parks and nature reserves or highways, which prevent or impede the possibility of their expansion in the future.” That's what you call democracy mate? That's the purest form of Apartheid and anti-Western norms and values. Israeli law permits towns in the Negev and Galilee (which comprise two-thirds of the land in Israel) with up to 400 households to maintain admissions committees that can reject applicants from living there for being “not suitable for the social life of the community” or for incompatibility with the “social-cultural fabric.” This authority effectively permits the exclusion of Palestinians from small Jewish towns. Human Rights Watch documented in 2008 discriminatory Israeli policies and practices that left tens of thousands of Palestinian Bedouins in southern Israel living in “unrecognized” informal settlements, where their homes face the constant threat of demolition, and in 2010, discriminatory planning in a Palestinian village near Tel Aviv. International human rights law prohibits racial and ethnic discrimination, condemns “racial segregation,” and safeguards the right to adequate housing. The International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights (ICESR), which Israel has ratified, requires states to ensure that policies and legislation progressively realize the right to adequate housing for all segments of society. The body tasked with interpreting the covenant has said that “enjoyment of this right must … not be subject to any form of discrimination” and that “increasing access to land by landless or impoverished segments of the society should constitute a central policy.” and more laws and policies which are based on Apartheid.

@@danielleza908But they kinda did before 7 October. The Israeli government and Netanyahu were already criticized for their policies with the Gaza Strip and the West Bank way before that, and the situation was already critical Without forgetting the amalgam they are forcing between Hamas and the Palestinian population, the lack of consideration for the hostages on the part of the Israeli government (more busy using them as political weapons rather than as people), the tactics used not limiting the damage (human and material), and the strengthening of a state of blockade already present previously in addition to the taking of territory in the West Bank almost unnoticed during the war in the Gaza Strip
People openly hate a 20yr old girl entirely because of where she was born and she just brushes it off. So impressive. I’d bet anything out of all the contestants she becomes by far the biggest star.

After a long time, I watched eurovision again. As you know - unfortunately - because we Turkiye have not been in eurovision for 12 years. It was definitely the most sensational year of Eurovision. I'm glad I watched it. Will return to the topic, It's normal for Israel to be critics, but it's not normal to disrespect Elen. She's just a young girl and she's out to sing for her people. The decisions taken by the state of Israel (Netanyahu) do not concern him. I want both the Israeli people and the Palestinian people to live in peace. However, I am not defending the state of Israel or the state of Palestine. In my opinion, they are both unfair and religious. I hope that Israel and Palestine will become secular states in the future. Because theocracy is deadly.
Mert, if you think that supporting Palestine due to the Islamist policies of the AKP government will take you away from secularism, you are wrong. Let's fix this first. Palestinian territories have been occupied by the Israeli state since 1948. Liberation of Palestine was a cause of the socialists especially in the 60s and 70s (and you know they're not THAT religious) but today, thanks to the AKP, it has become an issue that can not gone beyond being the subtext of the Islamists' "we want sharia" parades. If you are influenced by this and do not support Palestine because they are "religious", you might be an "orta yolcu" :) Please educate yourself. The state of Israel is the occupier, and Eden Golan is there, to represent that occupying state. (probably with her whole heart) That's why people reacted that way.
@@allencarl7657 It is very surprising that you know so much about Turkiye. Where are you from? I am anti-Erdogan. Although I am a Muslim, I fully support secularism, women's rights, gay rights and similar values. That's why I'm anti-Erdogan. Also I don't like Arabs. Because right now, millions of Syrians are not returning to their country even though the war is over, and they are racist against us in our own country. I hope the Syrians will leave our country as soon as possible. As far as I am concerned, it is the Arabs who are the real occupiers. At the same time, they are radicalizing Islam. I supported Israel at the beginning of the war. I don't support it anymore because Israel has brought it to the level of genocide. Most of the dead were children and women under the age of 5. This is unacceptable. There has been an apartheid system in Gaza for many years. Like I said, I don't like Arabs, but I don't condone innocent people dying either. I hope there will be peace and secularism will come there. Peace at home, peace in the world! (Ataturk, the founder of Turkiye)
It looks like you're trying to convince me that Turkey is not an Arab country. "Yeah, we're Muslim too but not like Arabs, they came and destroyed our country. I supported Israel at the beggining of the war guys believe me!!! They're occupying us!!! We're not Arabs, we're not like them!!!" And it was not even our topic. I simply said your government and their political plans created your "oh i don't care about Israel or Palestine" perspective, which is kinda sad. But the harsh truth is, like i said, it's not about religion or ethnicity. It's all about imperialism. The Arabs that you've told me as occupiers are also a part of the political Islamist movement. Basically: imperialists. Also, your restaurants, taxi drivers, hotel owners seem happy to host them in your country cause they have money, right? And I wanna say it again: The war didn't started on October 2023, it started on 15th May 1948. (Check "Nakba") Since then, Palestinians has been living in an "open-air" prison. Bu arada, Türk'üm.

@@nuster7816 First of all, the whole idea of this question is backwards. If someone wants to hurt her, to the point of putting everyone around in danger - is it her responsibility? It is the responsibility of the Host to make sure everyone is safe. Jewish or Israeli people are constantly under some threat. Asking this question implies that they should just stay hidden so that no one that tries to hurt them will by mistake hurt someone else that is not related. basically give up to terror. Secondly: she is an artist, not an ambassador or a spokeperson for Israel. she doesn't speak on behalf of the Israeli people, and yet she is the only one who is going to be asked political questions about her country and about things she doesn't have any control over anyway. this is why she has an advisor to answer these questions. no one is asking other artists political questions about their countries so they don't need anyone to advise them. Its the same with a National football team. Sure they arent part of any political formation but they are stil representing the country they play for. Also no other country is doing something that is international critisized and sacntioned by the United Nations Court - and not for the first time. And it was that artist that came with the Israeli flag onto the stage, wasnt she? Isnt it also provocative? "just an artist" with the countrys flag? Some Questions need to be asked. Is it really provocative to ask such questions or is it more likely provocative that she is part of the show? Again. She chose to be there despite all the critic and the critic was loud. If we go by your argumentation why not letting Russia in. Wouldnt it be fun? First Russia sings and then Ukraine. Why dont we have the Kosovo in here? Damn. - Israel is racist against their own people - if you’re not an Ashkenazi - they treat you like less. You’re stripped away from your roots like not being able to speak your country’s language or reproductive rights like Ethiopian Jews were treated
- the apartheid law treats Palestinian less. Like the West Bank - where Hamas doesn’t even exists - illegal settlements continue to happen. Here’s the thing. You can be against Israel’s actions. You can support the cause for the people of Palestine that’s acceptable. However, you can’t harass people for their race, religion, ethnicity, or nationality. As a US citizen our enemies are Iran, China, and Russia. All these countries do bad things, at least in my opinion. It doesn’t allow me to harass or threaten to kill a representative from one of these countries, that is blatant racism. It seems we treat Jewish people differently and no one cares. If you are mad at what I’m saying, reflect on your own actions. Are you against Israel’s actions or Jewish people in general? If you are just against the country’s actions, you should have no problem with what I’m saying because it doesn’t concern you.
You are 100% correct and this is what people don't realize, because many of them are antisemites.
If Israel is at war against Hamas, and this causes people to assault Jews around the world, Jews who have nothing to do with Israel, it exposes their antisemitism.
The only blatant racism I see is you conflating Iran, China, and Russia (countries) with Jewish (ethnicity).
There are Jews who hate Israel. Of course, I have no problem with Jews. As Turks, we got along very well during the Ottoman period. We have a problem with Israel and its supporters and nothing can explain the bombing of hospitals.

Another self righteous idiot, check historical facts before spewing garbage from your mouth.
Israel in 2005 evacuated Jewish settlements from the 3000 year old Jewish city: Gaza in exchange for 'peace' how naive we were.
We handed them Gaza on a silver platter. A developed city with modern infrastructure. We even left the greenhouses to them.
What did they give us in return? Since then the shelling of the civilian population in Israel, the kidnapping and murder of civilians and soldiers, and of course thanks to the European taxpayers, the construction of lower Gaza, a network of tunnels where our abductees have been held for over 7 years. This is a 1000 km long infrastructure of tunnels designed to penetrate Israeli territory to massacre and kidnap Israelis.
In the charter of Ham-Ass-ISIS it is explicitly written to exterminate Jews wherever they are and then the infidels, i.e. anyone who is not Muslim.
The difference between us and them is that if the Ham-Ass-Iss had the possibility to permanently destroy the Israeli people, they would do it, whereas the Israeli army has the capabilities to destroy them years ago, but we don't.

The fact that the Westbank also sees their eviction rates and settler violence go up says enough about you land grabbin thieves. Daddy USA won't be able to protect you all the time.

The Israeli government and Netanyahu were already criticized for their policies with the Gaza Strip and the West Bank way before that, and the situation was already critical
Without forgetting the amalgam they are forcing between Hamas and the Palestinian population, the lack of consideration for the hostages on the part of the Israeli government (more busy using them as political weapons rather than as people), the tactics used not limiting the damage (human and material), and the strengthening of a state of blockade already present previously in addition to the taking of territory in the West Bank almost unnoticed during the war in the Gaza Strip
People openly hate a 20yr old girl entirely because of where she was born and she just brushes it off. So impressive. I’d bet anything out of all the contestants she becomes by far the biggest star.
You forget the tiny little detail that she has accepted to act representing a terrorist organisation. And how is a 20 year adult woman a girl in your eyes?

Will return to the topic, It's normal for Israel to be critics, but it's not normal to disrespect Elen. She's just a young girl and she's out to sing for her people. The decisions taken by the state of Israel (Netanyahu) do not concern him. I want both the Israeli people and the Palestinian people to live in peace. However, I am not defending the state of Israel or the state of Palestine. In my opinion, they are both unfair and religious. I hope that Israel and Palestine will become secular states in the future. Because theocracy is deadly.
Palestinians are innocent their land was stolen by Europeans eden golan people
Mert, if you think that supporting Palestine due to the Islamist policies of the AKP government will take you away from secularism, you are wrong.

There are definitly problems on the political world with Israel.
Like the critic with the Israeli settlers that is going on for years and was even questiones by the UN
Or the way Israel is acting in Gaza wich is even critizised by the United Nations Court.
That all with the demand of several musicians of the ESC to not include Israel this year.
For me i completely stand with the Army of Israel and the way they handle it in Gaza because they more or less have no other choices because the p*ssy hibsollah playing hide and seek behind civilians.
But there is still so much going on with Israel that this questions are definitly fair and needed to ask and by having and advisor only for Israel is showing that exactly this was to except.
I mean. United by music but then a Country that is sentenced by the United Nations Court because they act inhuman and also is questiones by exactly this United Nations Court of doing genocide?

If you want to direct political questions to Israel, why ask a 20 year old singer? and why do it in a singing contest? clearly it is meant to rise a provocation more than anything else. don't be naive.

Yes. She is a Artist but she represents Israel as a country. Thts how Eurovision works.
