I always liked Bill Simon's original trick, but I often did not have a business card, so I could not do the effect. Rafael's thinking on this effect, getting rid of the business card, and using two thought-of cards makes the routine a miracle. Rafael did a lecture in Las Vegas a few years back, and he did this effect and had it in his Tricks I Do All the Time lecture notes. He called it "The Favorite Cards of My Friends". I wanted to make the culling of the cards look like no work, no effort like I do nothing. I think I have come reasonably close to that goal. The best handling of the Bill Simon Prophesy move to date is by Jim Patton and Bruce Cervon in the September 1991 issue of Genii magazine.

Straight forward and a good way to use Bill Simon's move. I recognize some of your other ideas from other effects as well. Very nice!! One thing though.... Next time you have to conclude the effect by pulling a silver half dollar out from behind Mickey's ear!
Mickey is one awesome coinjurer, it is always a treat when he shows up at the Wednesday night magic club.

Mark - The prophecy move, is one great move and has many uses and it a great tool for the magician's toolbox.

Fantastic live version Allan. Have you considered using a stack in order to be able to name your favourite without looking at the deck ? No longer impromptu but could be worth the try.

I have a question I would like to ask that is not directly related to this video. I can't seem to find the following information: what is the year when you produced the videos for the VHS series: Advanced Card Control Vol. 1 to 8?
Mike Maxwell shot those videos in Jan of 1996.
Yes Allan have to add the way you do the prophecy move with the deck spread is awesome. I have used this many times, but the spread just kills it.😊👍👍👍😊😊👍👍
The reverse spread on the table is the best as it preserves the orientation of the card, i.e., if it is on the right it stays on the right.
I really appreciate you being from the generation of past magicians. And I wanted to ask you why over the generations the level of magicians in the world only goes down (especially in cards)
Not sure I agree - I love what I am currently seeing, with the older guys as well as the younger crowd. Love the work of Jack Carpenter, Jason England, R. Paul Wilson, Steve Beam, Bill Goodwin, Lee Asher, Aaron Fisher, Ed Kwon, The Buck Twins, Paul Harris, Jaun Tamariz, and I could go on and on. I see close-up magic getting better every day. 👍
@@allanackerman4848 I know some of the card magicians you wrote here but I still look at the card magicians of the past in a more uplifting way. I'll be honest if they offered me to give up a toe in exchange for meeting Houdini or Ed Marlowe I would agree
