Hey Gimpy! The Nashorn is basically a PZ III/PZ IV Chassis with an 88MM Pak43 ATG on top. Its open top superstructer gave some protection but not against enemy armor. Thu Stu 42 has a 105MM Howitzer so its more of a bunker buster vice Anti Tank weapon. Thanks for the vids!

Useless trivia - Originally called the Hornisse (Hornet) but Hitler thought choosing a bug mascot was lame-ass; re-christened Nashorn (NAZ -horn) which translates to Rhinoceros or bad-ass unicorn.

StuH = sturm Haubitze (assault howitzer); StuG= sturm Geschutze (assault Gun)

Really enjoying this playthrough. Great job!
I'm still learning this game myself, but I noticed a couple of things:
At 21:55, when the mission track was advanced, I believe it should have triggered the 'Sniper' event which was listed in that square. So immediately, a 1D6 should have been rolled to determine if the sniper did any damage to the German command (i.e. CAPs) for that round.
At 27:17, you group-moved three Units onto the map but did so by entering each unit individually through hex P11. My understanding is that to group move, Units must start in continuously adjacent hexes, and move together. Also, half hexes are never used.
So, as I see it, before the group move the units can be 'placed' offboard as follows:
    Ferdinand in hex O12
    Armoured car in hex P13
    Panzer in hex Q12
They are then continuously adjacent but offboard (since half hexes are never used and P13 is off the map).
Then the group move can be as follows:
Ferdinand moves one hex to O11 (NOTE: no bonus move required!)
Armoured car moves one hex to P12, then bonus (tracked) move to P11
Panzer moves one hex to Q11 (NOTE: could have used bonus (tracked) to continue moving one more hex)
So they would have ended up in the same position as in the video, but the Ferdinand did not need a bonus move to reach O11, and the Panzer could have moved one additional hex (if you wanted to do that).
I'm no expert in this game so if anyone agrees/disagrees, please reply. I really enjoy this game and I'd like to fully understand it.
I can't wait to see how this plays out! Thanks

I forgot to say that alternatively all three units could be entered as a stack, on P11 or Q12 or P11, or indeed any other full hex on that edge of the board. But in this case, the Ferdinand would have to stay in that hex since it doesn't have a bonus movement.

I'm not sure if the event triggers if the AI card causes the round tracker to move forward. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that it doesnt trigger if its moved to on that circumstance, but not 100% on it.
As far as moving the vehicles onto the map it's a little harder since there is no real starting hex. I do believe I annotated in the video that the Ferdinand did not have a bonus move and was just a mistake on my part since all the others do have it.

      @@thegimpygamer Hi, thanks for replying.
From the ATB solo rulebook section 7.2:
"When the Mission Track Marker advances to a space, any listed
Mission Event on that space is immediately executed. If the Mission Track moves 2 spaces, the first space's Mission Event is also executed if it is on a Yellow Background . If not on a yellow background, only the Mission Event on the final space the Mission Track Marker advances to is executed."
      Re. moving onto the map:
My main point was that depending on whether you consider the three Units to begin the group move adjacent, or as a stack, will depend on where they can legally end up. If your intention in the video was to enter them as a stack in hex P12, then your annotation was correct. The Ferdinand would have made an illegal bonus move.
But if they enter the board as an adjacent group, then the Ferdinand could go immediately to O11 without breaking any rules. It's not really necessary to consider hexes off the board, provided units that enter as an adjacent group enter only on 'edge' hexes adjacent to each other. These 'edge' hexes don't include half-hexes. Then any units in the group with bonus movement can use those bonus movements in any direction, even 'splitting' from the group if they wish.
In the video it looked like you were entering them independently, one after the other through P12, but it's entirely possible that I mistook your intention and you were entering them as a stack.
In practice, it's not a big deal and won't make much difference to gameplay. But entering them as an adjacent group may provide more options and be more efficient in terms of movement since your units enter the board more 'spread out'.
I just wanted to clarify this for viewers who may be having similar questions.
      Cheers

I'll update on the mission track in part 4 since I had already filmed part 3.

Uwe told me you can play it either way - with or without the stress

Does PSW (recon vehicle) give you extra scout capability to ID rumored enemies?

Not that I know of off the top of my head, but I would have to double check to be sure.

You are not supposed to use the stress rule when playing the solo expansion.

    • @thegimpygamer
      @thegimpygamer  5 років тому

I went back and read again checking that and didnt see it. It doesnt say to use it but I didnt find anywhere saying not to use it either. Plus it would give me a serious advantage if I didnt get stressed.
Did you read somewhere where it specifically said not to use it?

    • @Ava-and-dad
      @Ava-and-dad 5 років тому

@@thegimpygamer I asked about it on BBG when I first got the solo expansion. Apparently Uwe made the ruling on it. It doesn't mention it in the rules because the stress system was created after the solo release. I think using it only on yourself would definitely make it harder for you but if you use it on the AI it puts the AI at a disadvantage. This is due to the higher chance to become spent as the AI can't account for the stress. Anyway, thanks a lot for your videos, very well done.

@@Ava-and-dad Thanks! I just filmed part 4 and decided to continue with the stress. I did point out how it would be a good way for a player to adjust difficulty. Say he wanted a harder match he could just apply stress to his own units and not the AI.
