  • Camping off the Pisgah National Forestry Service Road 187. Come check out the scenic views. While wandering around looking at the controled burns and the trickling streams. Winter is slowly moving out of Western North Carolina. I can't wait to see these trees covered in green!
    Hope you enjoy!

Wish we had National Forest near us but fortunately we have Maine Public Lands. Only draw back to that is it falls under the State's park service and when they close down the parks MPL's also close. We have been visiting these MPL's more each year and they are only an hour away. Always a welcome site.........free firewood! We try to do the same for the next campers!

The last few months I’ve really dove into this National Forest and have been amazed at how well kept the roads are even though they’re gravel. It’s been a great experience and always finding something new. Do the Maine Public Lands only close for the winter?
Ah, free firewood will always make a campers day!

@@weekendsinavan5503 They don't close but you may not be able to get to them. The roads are not plowed and either snow or ice make them impossible to drive on. The place that we go to is a working forest, Pine trees are harvested for lumber. The byproduct is they will cut down the hardwood and stack it out of the way. We bring a chainsaw with us and will visit these piles and cut up a pickup load and bring it back to the campsite. Burn what we need and leave the rest. Win win!

Fun video! I laughed when you made your "White Trash Steak" I like mine alongside a fried egg... Watching this make me nostalgic because I grew up in California, and my mom is from Kannapolis, NC, and we would travel back every other summer (camping along the way). Now that I'm in my 50's, we don't get to visit back there like we used to. So watching you camp brings back lots of great memories. Thank you for sharing your camping adventures! 😀

Thank you for sharing that! I’m happy the video brought up some memories. Camping across country like that sounds awesome. Given you’ve been to NC I’m sure you know what livermush is. That’s my other go to!
      Thank you for watching!!

@@weekendsinavan5503 Oh yes, my mom would bring an extra cooler to stock up on livermush and Cheerwine Soda every time we would visit so she could have it after we got back home! 🤣

Wow I thought I recognized the area spent the night at the same campsite and a snowstorm moved in early morning what an adventure that place can be. Definitely some beautiful stars to camp and explore. Happy Trails !
Also subscribe looking forward to watching others videos.

I’m thinking of spending the rest of the summer up there to get out of the South Georgia heat. Is it cool up there in North Carolina in the summer months?

Yes it is! You should come on up!

I’m headed out west Sunday. I’m joining up with the Homes on Wheels Alliance groups moving north from southern Arizona to the mountains in Northern Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado to live full time on BLM & National Forest land. Think about coming along if you can. The bad weather and heat in the east convinced me to head that way. I hope my 2009 F-150 can make it pulling my 6x 12 Cargo Trailer Camper that far and up into those 9000 feet areas. I put a new engine in it in 2017 planning on going then.
