The presentation of Bogie's classmates who have passed on was very touching. Consequently the presentation of the 1974 Hollin"s deceased classmates seemed insincere. Bogie's song was touching and heartfelt. Hollin's song was sterile. The pirate ship sailing on the water was prefect with the accompanying song.. Hollin's beach scene tried to connect but failed due to the sterile song. The two schools, once intense rivals, the reunions could not be any more different. The Bogie folks participated together as a fun group while the Hollin' folks despite have a surprisingly successful sports year, after suffering past horrible football seasons, still seemed forever broken and out of touch. So the two reunions are a tale of two schools.
This is thought provoking. After suffering past horrible football seasons from 1970 to 1973 the only Dixie team not suffering a losing season during that time period was the Dixie Hollins Wrestling Team. These records was accomplished despite being confronted with the dismal circumstances during those three years. One of which was a failed football coach turned feckless wrestling coach, initials D.M., who displayed during this three year span his cluelessness and ignorance. The grapplers were the diehards. They were the definition of badass. So how did the 74 and 75 teams rise like a phoenix from the ashes to emerge from a catastrophe stronger, smarter and more powerful? It all started at the end of the 73 wrestling season. During the season Coach D.M. has told the local newspaper that that he was waiting till next year. Sadly, Coach D.M. had given up on the team and spent the majority of his time in the coach's air condition office. His absent leadership and coaching cost the team victories and team members. Despite this the survivors of the 73 team were diehards they continued dig down deep in spite of the conditions and absent coaching. There was only one three year veteran on the team who had been there during the coach's first arrival. (He wished to remain in the shadows.) This particular wrestler related a heated discussion he had with the Coach D.M. He critically critiqued his lack of coaching. He reminded D.M. that he can not coach effectively from the coach's air condition office. He strongly suggested that it's not about him but the team. Coach D.M. knew that the veteran had been there since the beginning and that the rookie Coach's first two winning teams were inherited from the work of a previous winning wrestling coach. D.M.'s over inflated ego hurt his third year rebuilding year because he had refused help from knowledgeably wrestling sources. DM. had become an island unto himself. The veteran strongly reminded the coach that no man is an island, entire of himself. Every man is a piece of the team, a part of the whole. That returning members of the 73 team could be like a phoenix emerging from the ashes. Next year, Coach D.M. heeded the bold advice and accepted outside help which lead to his finally becoming a leader resulting in learning to be an effective coach. The very next year at an early home match Coach D.M. walked over to the bleachers and called the gritty, old wrestler over to talk. The Coach admitted that he had been wrong and thanked the veteran wrestler. That is the rest of the story.

We now know Raymond Stoddard's 1955-1992. May he rest in peace
