    I’m a graphic designer, and I’ve always liked the design style on your channel. It’s really cool to see your portfolio, I can definitely see why they accepted you!! Although I’m not in college I still have to present a design portfolio every year for my company to show my growth, and it’s definitely the most stressful time of the year lol But you did great! My favorite project is the Vidya tea! So pretty 🤍

    One of the things that interested me in Scad was their animation classes and I have been looking into making a portfolio in hopes of getting a scholarship, so seeing these kind of videos help with figuring out what I could add into my portfolio.
    I’ve made a lot of character art but I have a tad bit of experience animating as well as doing some art from just referencing off of real life, but that last one was done years ago.

    Hi! I'm a recent subscriber, I found your page while researching SCAD and watching your vlogs, and videos likes these make me very excited!! I'm only in my sophomore year at high school right now but majoring in the arts has been my goal since elementary school :)
    I wanted to ask what the Drawing classes are like and what assignments they give you, and do they put a lot of stress on the students?

    • @AnnaKatherineYT
      @AnnaKatherineYT  3 роки тому +3

      Glad you asked! Scad is awesome and I’m so glad you found my videos! Drawing was my favorite class this past quarter, and it really depends on the Professor on what the class is like. I had prof. Henry Dean and I loved his class so much (I’m taking drawing 2 with him next quarter.) Drawing 1 teaches you a lot about composition and technique, so most of my projects were still lives with charcoal pencils and vine charcoal where I learned about value, atmospheric perspective, and the drawing process. It was paced well and was challenging but not overwhelming, so I was able to manage the work well (we typically had one project a week and one practice sketchbook a week.) Then you have a critique at the end of each project where you talk with the class about what’s good and what you can improve, so that your next project is even better. It’s really fun and I hope you come to scad in a few years!!

    Hey! I am planning to apply for SCAD this year and am in the process of building my portfolio. I watched your video as a reference and now I have a question. The brand that you created (vidyatea), is it actually a brand or just a hypothetical thing? I mean do we need to make something which is actually gonna come out in real life or something that we just thought of?
    P.S. - Your portfolio is amazing! No wonder you received a scholarship :)

    • @AnnaKatherineYT
      @AnnaKatherineYT  2 роки тому

      Hi! Vidyatea is just a hypothetical brand. If you’re doing graphic design (or really anything) a lot of the stuff in your portfolio can just be hypothetical/concept ideas! And thank you so much for watching! Good luck on your application

      @@AnnaKatherineYT Thank you so much! Asking for just one more favour, could you suggest what kind of stuff should I design? Like when I sit with my laptop to use Photoshop or Illustrator, I go all blank about what should I make😅

    • @AnnaKatherineYT
      @AnnaKatherineYT  2 роки тому

      When I’m blanking I like to generate two random words and design a logo for it as if it was a hypothetical business. You can also design posters or stickers for your favorite bands. I like to watch UA-cam channels like Abi Connick to give me inspiration

  • @max-jc6wc

    I'm surprised you weren't accepted at NCSU, and scares me as a North Carolinian who wants to apply there LOL. Do you think it had to do with your stats? Otherwise, it just doesn't make sense to me why they'd reject (I know it's competitive, though!) I know SCAD is a lot more portfolio-based when choosing applicants, and your portfolio is amazing, so that makes sense in my head.

    • @AnnaKatherineYT

      I had good stats so I honestly don’t know what it came down to. I had two friends that got in and I felt like I was at least at the same level as them so not sure how they chose.

    👋🏻Hiiii
    I found this video just because I am in my process of creating a portfolio for SCAD (in fact I already composed it) but I have some doubts, I sincerely feel that it doesn't "look" quite professional.
    I am opting for the Fine Arts Program in Graphic Design and when looking for what things I could attach for the portfolio I only have what I have always done all my life regarding Art and that is Painting, so I collected my best works made in my painting classes but now I think: if I am opting for a program in Design wouldn't it look strange if my portfolio contains only photos of my creation process in painting? I mean it doesn't look like "digital work". I was curious by the fact that you mixed illustrations with digital & looks well.
    What could you say about this in your experience? I know it's Art in the end but I'm a bit confused, I hope you can answer, thanks! 🤎
