I'm a HALO Veteran, but did anyone else find that this halo is taking longer to get used to than the others? I mean, it feels like I can't go positive. Lets just say that it doesn't help that there is no colorblind filter, but It hurts my ego when in H3 I'm dropping people left and right, but in H5, I'm the one getting dropped left and right.
+Josiah Duff (GT500 Mustangs) I went positive most of the time through the long series of slayer games i played--until i ran into a couple of teams that seemed to be camping behind every nook and cranny, waiting for prey to walk past them. Makes for a new playstyle to have to deal with. I've stayed alive by positioning relative to my team mates, whose waymarkers seem easier to keep track of than HAlo 4's.

+Josiah Duff (GT500 Mustangs) its challenging, I am in Diamond 2 right now and about every 3rd match is just a total sweat fest to try and just barely win. But, give it time, new game with many new mechanics. Once we know the power weapon times and spots on every map, plus the power up timings things will get a bit easier. It doesn't feel like a traditional halo because of the super low auto aim and all the movement abilities players have
honestly its very competitive, probably the most competitive halo to date. that, combined with the excellent CSR, faster movement and new mechanics i can see why your having this problem. it's harder for me too

hey man, that "spinny thing" pros did with the reticle was called the ogre twitch. it originally started to reset the reticle on the screen on spawn in h1, and refresh hud in h2 to prevent auto lock lag. after that it could have been used as a sensitivity reminder i guess, but with muscle memory, i dont think you'd need much of a reminder. it was more of a mental tick, or mini thumb warm up exercise in game to refresh your mind for next encounter.
vids are awesome though, they are helping reinforce a lot of techniques i was unsure about implementing. thx
I always play 6.5 or 7 (it kinda fluctuates) but it’s just so much easier tbh and it’s helped me improve so much just by challenging myself to go higher. I used to play on 3-4 and I felt comfortable but now that I’ve changed it going down that low just feels restricting.

what about acceleration??
I've been playing on 1 horizontal, 1 vertical, and 5 acceleration for the past few months and been doing great. Hitting shots is easy and 5 acceleration allows for easy reversals
After 13 years I have changed my sensitivity from 2-3
I completely agree. sensitivity is a preference for each player. I use to play on 6 for halo 4, but I learned quickly that 6 was not fast enough to turn around and start shooting the player behind me. now in halo 5 I play with 10. and he is right. at first I sucked all over again in till I played enough games to where I became comfortable with my aim being that high. now... it's beautiful, it's beast mode. If u want quick turn around kills, sticks, or snap shots. I recommend getting use to a sensitivity that is higher than u r use to.

My best sensitivity is 6. Quick enough to swing round 180 and get them head shots.
10 sensitivity is probably the best, if you can get used to it.
If you can be accurate and precise with 10 sensitivity, then you will always win. It just allows for more options! You can turn at the fastest speed! Great times!

Also you might be able to get away with this at low levels of play but once you play better people the game is just as much about aiming as it is making yourself a hard target. I don't know what level of play you are at but I can tell you from experience from tournaments/high level MM that it is a very different experience. There is a reason that I have never heard of a pro player play above 6 except for the one tournament Naded decided to play 7 sens in Halo 3 and then switched back.
Once you start playing people who have some nice movement tricks is when this starts to become a probelem. It's harder to land your shots because he's moving at a different rate your sensitivity is and in many directions. I play on 10 in some games but on Halo I Play on 7 I think. Because I like to have quick movement while up close but can also control my shooting at 7 so far and sometimes I still miss my shots because somebody tricked me with their movements. (I might be at 6 but I don't remember )

1. I found it super redundant. It seemed as if you were trying to fill time.
2. There is no such thing as "muscle memory". Muscles do not have brains. Repitions program your nerves. It takes 10,000 hours to master something.
3. I enjoyed the gameplay as you were talking. Very entertaining.

I feel like the sniper is easier to no scope with than it is to zoom with. The number of easy no scopes I have gotten across map in only a few hours is ridiculous. I really am loving the game but this is the first thing I have noticed that I really don't like.

Mine is 8. Since I'm 17 as of this year I wasnt able to get into the earlier Halo games and my first was Reach and I played it a few years after it was out. I played on 3 at first and just worked my way up over time.
I'm 17 too man. Except I had the luxury of starting halo when I was 4. lol. Got my 360 and halo 3 when I was 7, and never looked back.
The way i go about adjusting sensitivity.......... Is get a buddy have them run by you, what ever the lowest sensitivity is where you can keep up with him running is what i stick with
I consider my self a pretty good Halo player, and I’ve been good at Halo 5 since launch, I consistently rank diamond and make it to onyx, and when I started to try to get more competitive I always thought that sweats had to play on the highest sensitivity, so I learned how to play with everything maxed out, and while I could do really well with it, I found my long range suffered severely cause of it, it wasn’t honestly until recently I even knew MLG players played on such low sensitivity, so I’ve been adjusting mine and it feels a lot better than what I was doing, so thanks for that
Really great video. I'm new to the Xbox and Halo in general and so far I understand why people like it so much. I think Sensitivity is a great place to start the series because I've been playing Halo 5 since it came out and although I know the learning curve is supposed to be long and hard I, sometimes, still feel like I can't land all my shots or that I play better for some games than others. I'm definitely will keep checking and take into account your videos from now on. See you in the game, guys.

I've had my sensitivity at 2-1 and I Nether miss a shot and turning around fast isn't such a big deal I get 20-30 kill in almost every match I've been playing halo for years
You forgot to mention 2 things: h5 has accel and if you click on the sens menu it will let you adjust x &y axis. And h5 usually makes the vertical sens half the horizontal

+DeezZY HD sadly no file share as of yet, and no word on if theater replays will be fileshare-able. I am hoping, I really don't want to have users send in DVR footage as it is just low quality and I don't get the theater mode benefits for explaining certain things
Great video, BBK! I've been playing on 7-10 for years, so my muscle memory is quite locked to it. I would deffo recommend new players start on 4 or 5 and treat 7 as the max for a while.

At around 4:06 you talk about "doing a little circle with the cross-hair"... It actually comes from Halo 1& 2 where the shots would start going off center, and doing the little circle reset it to the middle of your cross-hair. It's known as the "Ogre twitch" because Ogre 2 does it constantly and habitually. Halo 3+ haven't had the problem, but people still do it out of habit. Also note that it's freaking hard to do if you play inverted(like me).
I normally play on 3, but heard a op of people who said that they had to turn their sensitivity up in halo 5 so switched to 4. Over time something still felt off about it so I switched to 5 and have been comfortable with that.

That reminds me I need to turn my sens up 1. I usually play on 4 and 3 has felt really slow to react. I would definitely recommend for 4/5. Anything above 3 gives you a slight advantage over people who never change sens, which is probably a lot of people. Anything above 5 and your shots will miss more often - I've noticed in previous Halos when I go up to 6+ I feel more in control in terms of being able to react to someone, but I lose more shooting duels. Then I go down to 4 or 5 and all of a sudden I'm winning the same types of duels. Remains to be seen if this'll be the same in H5.

I think the biggest factor in sensitivity is one that no one ever mentions. KontrolFreaks.
I use them, I made the switch during halo 4. My sensitivity felt way too low after I made the change, I was always a default 3 and had to go up to 5.
Halo 5 I run at sensitivity 6 with KontrolFreaks that just is the most natural feeling for me.
Don't forget that in addition to the aim assist, they've also added some weird bullet curve mechanic where if your target is within a certain radius of your crosshair, the bullets will actually aim themselves towards that direction instead of the center of the crosshair. Saw the video on reddit of the devs explains it. I personally do not like it. Kind of nerfs strafe shooting in my opinion.

+Merry Ah the bullet magnetism. It was in halo 4 as well. It's literally the most insulting thing 343i has done to halo and it's there purely to pander weaker players and to ad "accessibility" to the game.

+Noah Rolf (Ark) No. What you're talking about is aim assist. In Halo 4 a bullet would literally change it's trajectory mid air even if your cursor was past your opponents head.

Awesome video dude! In previous Halo I was playing on 10 sensitivity, but I now play on 5 and feel it suits me really well now. Also every other Halo I have played either recon or just default but on Halo 5 I use fishsticks as this game is more fast paced

I’m very late on this but I play 2 sensitivities, 5-2 and 10-5, for forever I only played full sensitivity, but I changed to 5-2 recently. Big changes, agv accuracy before change was 40-45% accuracy, now 50-60, hit 71.7 in warzone as well with percision weapons only. Great vid tho

Great vid! Albeit it my delayed reaction. I played default Sens for all but Halo5. I do enjoy the fact there is less aim assist. I also like trying to find your personal spot is a mission upon itself. I have played 4 different sensitivities in the last year and a half and have settled on 4/2. The MP of H5 is an impressive achievement overall. It's best attribute in my opinion is I feel like I can take down players with 20+ weapons with proper distance control. I don't think people realize how difficult that is. I also enjoy the equal start ups and when I die I feel like 99.5% of the time it is my own fault. These are massive achievements for an FPS. If I had the luxury of the 343 counsel this would be the 1st time ever I would say leave 90% of the weapons alone. Maybe change their skin or base look but don't touch the functionality. You have worked too hard to throw it away. Also keep Forge the same with maybe only minor upticks. Fix Theatre, Fix Casual voting system in Lobby, Fix couch Co-op, ....For selfish reasons I would want to dump Spartan Charge but that is because I suck at it.

I think you should mention that weapon switching is a big part of the game in my opinion, I often found myself shredding BR's and DMR's with the AR and the MP in close quarters.

usually i leave my sensitivity at default but this time around i am playing at 5. loving it so far.
well I lowered my sensitivity and It helped a lot I was trying to play on a higher sensitivity cause I'm used to cod but halo 5 sensitivity is so weird. this vid helped thanks!

For people that play a lot of big team and warzone, I would suggest 2 or 3. Long sight lines and not as many instances of close combat. I play pretty low, on 2. I'm not quite a God at Halo, but I'm at least some kind of man-god incarnation.
I've been playing halo multiplayer since 2011 and have since gotten very good at it. When i started on halo 5 i was playing with the default sensitivity. I ended up changing it to look sensitivity 1 and look acceleration 3. I perform a lot better, only downside is i tend to turn very slowly when having opponents jump over me and when i need to turn quick. However i find that i win most of those fights still and they happen very rarely, so i would pick low accuracy over high most days.
What's look acceleration?

About to switch to X1 from PS4. Going from ridiculously high aim assist Destiny (where I'm considered pretty good) to Halo 5 with virtually no aim assist is freaking me out. Excited though :D
I play 8 sens and 5 acceleration just so it’s easier to turn faster because of how small the radius is of the radar.
Oddly in Halo 3 I played with 8 sensitivity. In Halo 5 I've been playing with 2 sensitivity. I aim better on 3 or 4 but when the pressure is on me I choke a lot, so I switched to 2 to minimize the effect it has.

I've always been playing either the default sensitivity because my brain always gets used to a games controls and settings. I never change settings to match my play style and I normally hit 20+s which I'm happy with. Although in Halo 4 I use 6 sensitivity because I did feel like I was getting better in that game (started dropping 40-50 bombs on people) but yeah normally I'm at 4,5 or 6. ☺
So many low sens players have this stigma with high sens. They say that high sens players have bad aim. It's not true whatsoever. High sens players actually have far better aim. Once you get used to high sens it feels like low sens, that's how the brain works. I'm so tired of people saying "don't go above sens 6". High sens players have freedom. Low sens players are always limited.
eh, low sense just feels... more consistent and i feel more accurate with low sense. all personal preference

This isn't exactly new information and can be applied to all of halo, but i think it's good that you started off your Halo 5 videos with a real tutorial since there is going to be a lot of new people coming through from other games to give halo a try.

I wouldnt necessarily say aim assist is low in this game, just tweaked with a certain formula. I've noticed quite a few times that as I'm aiming at a player and another player sprints inbetween our fight, the aim assist will force my reticle towards the sprinter unusually hard, thus aiming perfectly inbetween both of them and completely fucking me lol.
Other than mass groups of spartans in one area fucking the aim assist around, the general 1v1 shooting feels nice and loose by comparison

I played the first mission of the campaign on the default 3 sensitivity and immediately bumped it up to 6. I've been a 4 sens player in past halos, but the lower sensitivities feel like moving through syrup in h5.

I agree, a lower sensitivity allows you to more accurately follow the crosshairs to an opponent.
I play on sensitivity 1 and find it easy to put shoot people from medium to far distances but it's different up close due to the maneuverability of the slide and thrusters. I've been determining whether I need to bump it up to 2 or possibly even 3 but I see a lot of people that play on 6+ have either kontrol freeks or are cod veterans, not saying all are but that's what I've noticed is the majority.

I think the best sensitivity is one that matches the movement speed the spartans move at that way when they are moving you are not undershooting or overshooting you are matching their speed.

You talk about not changing sensitivity for muscle memory reasons, but what about warming up with higher sensitivity (in campaign for example)and then go and play with your normal sensitivity?

I also cried the 1st month when I had a china town dumpster fire K/D of 0.39 in Arena. My personal sensitivity was at 12. I would cry during commercials if I thought the snuggle dryer sheet bear might not be having his best day. Now life is better.
I play at 6 and my KD is of 7.4. If you are a aggressive player I recommend 6. works beauties for me

3 and 4 are the best for BR, sniper and carbon like weapons but for smg or AR those higher sens will be better like 5 and 6

+John Kovacs Thanks! If you have a few buddies, an FFA on Coliseum might be a great way to have a sort of octagon. Arena can be challenging, I'm in diamond now and fighting for Onyx has been harder than in the beta for sure

Been playing since haloce and in halo2 I used to play on 7-10 but then in halo3 after a while I noticed I was too twitchy and way inaccurate so I went back to default and it was too slow but I found in reach/odst era before returning to h3 that 4 was perfect sensitivity for me at least. I tried 7-10 here too twitchy back to 4 and I'm perfectly balanced but that seems to be the be the magic number. But I noticed they changed the fov or pov or something cause the sensitivity is way different in this halo than any other. Damn I miss promethian vision it prevented campers from getting ahead then hiding the rest of the game with power weapons

Gametype has to do a lot with it as well. I do a lot better in SWAT at 5-6 sensitivity than 3-4 which is what I play in Slayer.
I have over 1000 hours on destiny so I come onto halo because they are similar so I jumped on and put my normal 3 sensitivity and it was perfect

I think Pros are better off with a lower sensitivity in comparison to solo players. They communicate a lot more and they plan out their plays a lot more, this means they dont need to be looking around and checking corners because they are already quite well informed of their situation and the possible locations of their enemy. If you are a solo stomper its better to be a bit higher sens because you rely much more on your own intel.
Also pros are never going to out skill an opponent that has a strategical upper hand, so there is no gain in doing a 180 and 4 shoting someone, JUST RUN!! in solo MM you can get away with strategical errors much more so the higher sensitivity pays off more.
i just started playing halo 5 on christmas, haven't played much since halo 3. played a couple years of cod and now nothing for the past couple years. i love halo 5, and im progressing well. ive been playing with sensitivity and its hard to find what i like, I seem to have settle one 2.5 horizontal, 3.5 vertical and 4 acceleration. it feels good to me and I do well. I know theres not right and wrong with this stuff, but would I be better served getting comfortable with something slower? for consistency or could I be competitive at higher level play with this
