    Kais was our fixer in 2018. As we were 2 women, he had many challenges helping us to see the raw beauty and meet a wonderful family. We had to drive in and out and stay hidden at that time. Kais was a true gentleman and continues to be a friend and family member in our hearts. Thank you for sharing your experience with all of us. Yemen is full of wonder and great people.

      @@armondlevinia9221 I agree. We spent time with some of the women. They were wonderful people with big hearts. We had met woman a refugee that was not, as well. We also observed some village women that were the workforce in the fields, fully covered, including their hands. We were covered for safety. We have videos of this experience we have not shared. But Krystal shared some of our experiences on UA-cam. The history and the present life there are valuable to be aware of in my opinion.

    I am from Hadramaut Yemen known as " the city of entrepreneurs" I lived in Sanaa city from 2000 to 2011. If I tell you what my life was like in Yemen back then you will think am lying. believe it or not, Sanaa had a lot of expats, most of my friends were half Yemeni half American, Canadian, & European. we did a lot of fun things back then, we would go rock climbing, skateboarding, arranging sports events between our schools, & hang out almost every day at different coffee shops. I learned 70% of my English just by chilling with my friends and watching WWE Lol. The city was so safe that sometimes I would walk back home at 2 AM with zero fear.
    The stories are endless of what I saw in Yemen, I remember seeing an old caucasian couple living in the old city in Sanaa for years considering it as their retirement home. and I remember a group of divers going to one of the islands in Hodeidah just to dive there, I also remember a team of professional rock climbers from France, they came to climb in the Sanna mountains and they invited us to join them for an easy climb. I absolutely love everything about being Yemeni apart from having a Yemeni passport haha.
    It's just heartbreaking what is happing to my people, if you only know how sweet Yemenis are, let me give you an example if you ever had a flat tire I guarantee you everyone passing by will stop and FORCE their help.
    I wanna thank you for your effort during this series, only God and Yemenis know what you needed to go through to shoot those videos, you made me reminisce about the old days and broke my heart as well in a good way. PEACE BE WITH YOU.

      The women in Yemeni culture usually would not show up on UA-cam or even tall to random people it has some religious motivate as well
      But the women life is on its hardest times in Yemen what you saw is the safe area of the country camper to the rest the people are way better than the people who live in not safe areas
      If a woman goes there she would be able to connect with Yemeni women

    I am impressed you went to Yemen, it looks like you found an amazing guide. I am quite sad you never got to North Yemen. As the area not colonised by the UK, it retained much of it's culture, history and architecture. The landscape, food, people, everything is different. I fully understand, given who is in charge there but in the future hopefully, I hope you visit it too.

    I absolutely loved this series. There is something I wish you would have at least touched on, though. That is the experiences of different women in Yemen. Even the ability of women to travel to Yemen.
    Not a single woman was interviewed. Whether that be by the choice of the women or because of the dynamics of the culture there, who knows. Because it wasn’t spoken of.
    It should also be mentioned that you were able to get through the loopholes to travel there as a man, but a woman would potentially not have the ability to do so and may have very different concerns.
    The people of Yemen aren’t just the men of Yemen.

    • @ausboh652
      @ausboh652 2 роки тому +34

      In Yemen, the culture does not allow much interaction between men and women. Nick interviewing a regular Yemeni woman would be a serious faux pas in such a country. Actually, women tourists in Yemen often have an easier experience as they are often not questioned by security people and can use traditional clothing to make it less apparent that they are foreigners. Many women have travelled to yemen as tourism recently and many positive experiences from them!

    Yemen consists of two Yemens, namely South Yemen, which consists of authentic Arab tribes from which the rest of the tribes of the Arabian Peninsula were formed. South Yemen is the first Arab country to open up to the Western, European and Russian outside world. It is a country with a lot of young cadres open to the outside world. South Yemen is a qualified and valid state to be a state like the rest of the countries that respect the rights of others to life, respect international conventions and preserve international shipping lines. While North Yemen has been a state since its founding, an arbitrary state run by a Zaydi lobby that controls and dominates all levers of power and wealth. North Yemen descended the origins of his sons to the Persians and Abyssinian. North Yemen consists of gypsy tribes that do not respect the rights of others in life and only believe in the logic of wars, murder, looting and intermittent plunder. Since its inception, North Yemen has never sought to be a sovereign state. Rather, the people of North Yemen are divided into three sections as follows: one third of the northern components follow Iran, one third follow Qatar, and the other third are silent. North Yemen is simply a semi-state because its sons are not qualified either scientifically, academically, or culturally. Rather, they do not have the minimum level of basic education. This was the policy of former President Saleh and the Yemeni Congregation for Reform Party (the Muslim Brotherhood in Yemen).
    South Yemen is like South Korea like life and respect others lives and wanna provide something for the other societies whereas North Yemen like North Korea just like to kill the lives of others and like to fight and make life a piece of hell.
    This is the easiest definition from which you can understand the difference between the Two Yemens
