There's probably a filter or something that would help fix it in post.
Looks like he recorded everything in hdr mode on his iPhone. You have to convert it over to normal on final cut or it looks all washed out.

Part of it might be the fact it's in HDR, but I'm sure I couldn't do better.

I remember going to family mart with my mom when I and my bro were little. She would get us some candy and a little toy if we behaved. Sweet memories of Okinawa.

Father was stationed in Okinawa for 3 years, I remember visits to Okuma beach and just enjoying the clear water. I didn’t know that it wasn’t normal to see such clear water in the ocean like that until I grew up. I miss it more than anything and need to visit again
"I can't get over how clear the water is". Yeah, had the same experience. I usually hate dirty seawater, but when I saw clear blue water like this, I jumped right in. It's clear water like a swimming pool

@@Naokarma sea is dirty in some places coz 1. Ships sail near sea cities if they got port 2. People drop garbage in sea, well it reaply depends on if ppl care or not and they dont in my country thats why i hate going to sea here
@@overlord3083 I just haven't seen it anywhere nearly as bad as people are acting like. I've been to 4 or 5 beaches over my life so far, and every single one was perfectly clear. Been to Hawaii once, and I live relatively near the coast where I live, so I've been to about 3 different major beach areas thanks to that, and never did any look even remotely cloudy. I could imagine if there was a major city right next door that was big on production of some form (extremely general statement, I know), but that isn't even close to the majority of beaches.
I guess what I'm saying is I'm surprised literally everyone says the same thing when they're used to what should be the minority, not the majority, of beaches.
@@Naokarma believe it or not, most beaches are dirty af. Crystal clear water usually occurs only occurs on islands, etc. Overlord did a good job explaining. Sometimes it's just natural colour, or even sand. Perhaps you've been to more island beaches, not regular ones?
@@ryne1625 I was purely talking about cleanliness, not the situational color. The only island beach I've been to was on a Hawaii trip like 15 years ago. Most of the time, it's the northern west coast California. Been to a mix of sandy and rocky beaches along the coast line.
Again, I know there are plenty of very dirty beaches, but the way people act makes me feel like they think every single beach is 1 step away from being mud, and I really don't get that level of surprise in their response.
You can tell that Joey is the only Australian here with how he interacts with spiders.

Japan has a lot of amazing islands including Tanegashima & Miyakojima too. People should visit these places if they can! Lovely beaches, great people and hospitality. Like a slice of paradise.

Okinawa seems like a perfect getaway destination. Everyone's looking forward to dipping their toes into the water as soon as they arrive. Joey and his friends seem like they've got each other's backs through good and bad times.

Probably unwanted advice but I might as well mention it. I’m pretty sure the reason the highlights are blown out is because HDR is turned on by default for iPhone video, which looks like this when exported normally. You can toggle it off in the camera ‘record video’ settings. Hope this helps! Great video!

Please shoot in automatic if you don't adjust the brightness for your camera for each shot. There are quite a few scenes that are just white. But other than that I really loved the more personal and intimate look into the Okinawan islands life and culture.
Only an Australian would look at that 9:28 and say "it's not even that big!"
My husband was stationed in Okinawa 2009-2013. We miss Okinawa every day. It's the only location my oldest son has memories of that he loves and he was 1 1/2 years when moved there and 5 years when we left. He is 15 years now and he has been ready to go back since he left. Our future permanent residency will be Okinawa by 2026. Look forward to traditional music, festivals, parks, beaches, and food.

if you go to naha port, you can get a ferry to zamami island and snorkle with some turtles and a coral reef with a shit ton of fish there, its pretty dope for a saturday afternoon
I see that the box jellyfish is called ハブクラゲ, which is like the habu (snake) jellyfish. BTW, the 2000 yen bill was issued at the turn of the century (2000), as a one-off.
I remember Joey freaking out on Trash Taste after dark, about his $2 bills, thinking that they were super rare currency when they aren’t really anything special, haha.

It's been 9 years since I visited Okinawa.. it's such a beautiful place!! I need to visit again someday! Beaches in Europe are so busy all the time.. I was shocked how peaceful the ones in Okinawa were!

I've been to Ishigaki island twice. It's a fantastic place to spend holidays, especially in the countryside of the island.
This video made me so happy. I lived in Oki for 4 years and loved every moment of it. It's a place thay leaves a lasting memory with you. I dream of the day I can go back and make it my forever home.

I spent nearly eight years on Okinawa as a military dependent. I’ve been back in the states for 27 years, and I still miss it. I’ll have to go back and visit some of the places you stayed 😁

MY EYES! I have to watch Chris' videos to see what Okinawa looks like without a solar flare hitting it.
The coldest it tends to get is in the winter and it averages about 19c. In the height of summer, it can get to about 32c but it's not as noticeable since you get a strong ocean wind at those temperature.

Love beach areas. That water is amazing. I always lived near the beach but moved inland recently. I miss it soooooo much as I love nature, peacefulness, of ocean areas. Okinawa has been one of the places I'd love to visit if I ever make it to Japan. I've wanted to go from the 90s.
