  • Seabird nesting season has got off to a late start in Bodega Bay, but the Murres, Gulls and Brandt's Cormorants at the Head are getting busy.
The Oystercatchers have claimed their territory, but don't seem to be sitting on eggs just yet.
The Pelagic Cormorants are conspicuously missing, perhaps dissuaded by the road grading project.
There are a few surprise birds in the area right now: A Wandering Tattler in breeding plumage, a Red-Necked Grebe and a Pacific Loon, also in breeding plumage. There are also a few straggler male Surf Scoters hugging the edges of the bay.

The nesting process is fascinating. I thought I was picky about what I sat on! 😂 that nest looks like it will be very comfy. ❤bald eagles?!

The eagles have been nesting at the bay for a few years now 🙂
