    I´m Mexican American, and I´ve been raised and educated in both countries, Mexico and the US. For the past 24 years, I´ve been living in Mexico and don´t get me wrong, I love the US voraciously. I¨m grateful to the United States for my education and all the wonderful things I learned from American teachers, but I do have to say this: It amazes me how the US is the only first world country in the plantet that does not offer universal medical coverage to Americans. How does that work? I´m in Mexico, and I can get a doctor anywwhere, and besides that, I also have universal medical coverage and on top of that, I also have private medical coverage. These are things I could never have in the US. I just can´t wrap my head around that. Another thing that scares me about the US is the fact that any one - literally - can carry a gun. Living in the US and just going to a mall is plain dangerous. Another thing I love about Mexico is homes. They are just built differently than in the US. Houses in Mexico are made out of steel and concrete. US homes are made out of wood, carton and other perishable materials. I just don´t see how you can spend 15, 20 years paying for a home, that can simply get blown away by a hurricane. Those two things alone are what ketp me in Mexico since the year 2000. Love the US - but, if you´re serious about having a long peaceful healthy life - US is not an option. Mexico is.

      @gabrielgarciasalinas1519 sadly that is the reality. USA is a beautiful country that in the past had a lot to offer. But it's been turned into a money machine where quality of life has just vanished. I am mexican American too and if I hadn't gone back to Mexico yet is because my kids were born here and all they know so far is the US. Definitely, I have to start preparing to go back. The USA is becoming harder and harder. There is no more time to live. All we do is work so hard to pay highly bills and we really live a very low quality of life.

      @@olgaherrera9416 When you live in a country like Mexico - you have to give up a lot of things, and you also have to get used to things that aren´t normal in a first world country. For example, when I lived in the US I could just step out of my apartment and play tennis, swim or play golf. Living in Mexico I don´t have those luxuries. Those things are incredibly expensive in Mexico because you´d have to join a private club to do that. A private club will charge you no less than 200 or 300 US dollars a month just to play tennis or swim. To me, that´s a lot of money. So, I have to learn to entertain myself doing other more simple and affordable activities. So, life in Mexico isn´t perfect. It´s a third world country, but we still have those things missing in the US called affordable medical coverage and nice affordable concrete and steel homes.

    Good summary- we have lived in Mexico full time the past 4 years and experience the same culture shocks when we return. They feel like shocks because we US citizens have been indoctrinated to believe that everything in the US is the “best”. When you travel the world your eyes are opened. For us the high quality of food at a lower cost and excellent healthcare available in Mexico are two reasons we probably will never return to live full time again in the US.

One of the things that depressed me the most when I was brought to USA when I was 15 is that people don't even know their neighbor!! I am USA born and still have close ties to my family in Jalisco and Mexico city. You are so right about the produce. My family in our pueblito in Jalisco grows their own produce and fruit. We have a family orchard. The tomatoes are so good and everything else is so fresh and you can really taste the difference. They raise their farm animals. Chickens, goats, and some grow pigeons for consumption. They are fed mostly corn and their produce. I like pigeon in mole' sauce. No chemicals just water and care for produce. The immigration from Mexico is at a historical low. The folks at the border have to cross Mexico to get to USA. If there are opportunities and jobs, ppl don't leave their country. I love Mexico. Have you been to San Luis Potosí? It's a beautiful little city in Jalisco and less expensive than other places in Mexico. I love the Metro system in Mexico city. Thank you for your kind assessment of my Mother land. All the best to you. Your right about the generosity. The poorest most humble home will offer a bite even if it's just beans and tortilla.

Thankfully, we have managed to have, finally, patriotic governments, so now they have been, and are, working actually for the People's well-being, for the nation, for the country, and not just acting as CEO's for the big transnational corporations. Those are all good, Benavides can be a little rude if you have a level c controlled medication and are often devout Catholics before they are doctors. I like the small, hole in the wall pharmacies owned by doctors, one stop cure and many have worked at the big chains so they know how to get a good price.

      Laugh out loud. I've never seen nor heard of a true pharmacist in any farmacias in Mexico. My nephew in the US went to pharmacy school which is 5 years of school on top of earning his undergrad degree. He's a professional Pharmacologist now, 9 years total of studying. Those people who work in the farmacias in Mexico are not pharmacists. I repeat emphatically, they are NOT pharmacists. They might or might not even have a high school degree. Quite often they give you the wrong medication altogether. I'm a full time resident of Mexico. I've been living here for 20 years. My husband is Mexican. Thank god I was a healthcare professional before moving here because it has saved my life, my husband's life, lives of the members of his family--so many times. It might be cheap to go to the a médico here, but the overwhelming majority of doctors , nurses, techs, radiologists, pathologists, etc are woefully ignorant, do NOT have an adequate education, are not interested in learning anything new . There's no law requiring continuing education either.

    • @pablovi77
      @pablovi77 28 днів тому +2

      @ When you don’t know what you’re talking about… we are not referring to the people attending the pharmacies. They have real doctors in a real clinic en most pharmacy chains. They are real doctors with degrees. That you think they’re not prepared enough it’s your own biased opinion. Probably based out of racism and classism.

    I enjoyed ur video, but to describe Mexico as less developed 3 rd world is quite inaccurate because as u said they have been able build up their infrastructure. Mexico does have culture all over- museums, Universities, first rate Dr’s and professionals in other disciplines. Watch the Mananeras given by the President of Mexico every morning, it’s basically a press conference where the President gives an account of all projects and policies it is implementing. This done every day!!! Yes there are still poor people, just as we have here in the States, have u seen the tent cities all over California? Our education system is struggling. There was a study done conclusion: 50% of gen Z is reading at 5th grade level. Who is 3rd world? What is disturbing is the level of racism directed at Mexico- current political statements. California in-spite of its challenges is an economic power and I believe due to multiculturalism and its agriculture depends lots on Mexican labor. Just saying….really check things out. I thank God every day I live in California.

      Thank you for your feedback. You are absolutely correct based on the research I have done. I think it will be a couple of years and Mexico will surpass many countries, possibly even the US in its economic standing. The biggest issue, as I can see, is the imbalance of wealth per capita. Once wealth distribution is more even, Mexico will be one of the strongest forces globally, might throw in education to that as well.

    I haven’t been to Mexico in several years but I never had any theft incidents. The last time I visited, I lost my cell phone. I will confess that I just assumed my phone had been stolen because I had spent several hours in busy downtown Mexico City. A few hours after I arrived to the place where I was staying I received a phone call (landline) from my nephew. My nephew was very worried about me. He received a Facebook message saying that they had found my phone.
    My nephew provided the contact information of the gentleman who had found my $1,000+ 4 month old phone.
    I met with him, his wife and his 6 year old daughter.
    I was very afraid of meeting him but when I saw his family in his car I decided to take my chances.

    I moved to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico from Tempe Arizona in 2022. I have noticed humans in less developed countries like Mexico have a higher sense of awareness. Due to the fact that they are not completely distracted with social media and other aspects of life like their career or other obligations. Having more options in life to distract you takes away much of your personality and your true authentic self.
    Mexico is what the United States was in the '70s and '80s. This was at a time when we had no internet and we were a much more peaceful nation. Generally most people here are very happy regardless if you're rich or poor. Inner Peace and happiness comes from within not from external conditions.

    • @pablerry
      @pablerry Місяць тому +6

      With all due respect, I have to say that Mexico is probably a more socially advanced country than the United States. We have the same access to the Internet as the United States, even faster in some places and at a much lower cost. It is not social media that makes Americans have less of a sense of awareness, it is the culture, it is the importance of family. Our children in Mexico leave home and go out into the world much more prepared than Americans, because just like Mexican food, it takes time and dedication to make it right. Our children do not leave home at 18. Our children live at home while they study at university and often a few more years after that while they stabilize economically. This causes a decrease in drug addiction, homelessness and also divorces, since young people are more prepared for the world. Another reason why we don't have drug problems in Mexico is that we have a socialized health system, there will always be the free government option, that makes the option of private medicine never expensive, since there is always the option of having free medical attention, that is a huge safety net for all Mexicans, and exactly the same thing happens with private education.
      When the shit hits the fan and the US economy collapses, as it will eventually do, they will return to being a little more like Mexico, because there will be Mexicans to guide them.

      By doing world-class infrastructure works, by modifying the constitution to elect our judges by vote, and above all by having elected a woman as president, that makes us a more progressive and advanced society than the United States. In the United States, however, they elected an ultraconservative racist criminal as president, and they have not wanted to regulate weapons with the excuse of not modifying the constitution, even though these weapons thousands of innocent people are killed in mass shootings, all over the USA. In terms of technology and the Internet, we are very advanced, even more so than many places in the United States. The same is true in terms of medical services. And that is what our relatives who live in Texas tell us. Come live or visit Monterrey and you will see how modern and progressive this city Is, my relatives who live in the US, they envy many things about Monterrey that they don't have there.

      (probably spelled that wrong).... All it means is that you own the land, you own your house, you can sell your house as well. It's good for 50 years which I will be dead in 50 years (lol!) so I don't care... but I can WILL it to whoever I want. Also if I did purchase this at the time of being a child and I was going to be alive in 50 years, I could just renew it for another 50....so you do own it. Hola! I would like to add one. When you go to a sit down restaurant they don't rush you out when you've finished eating. In the US you can still have food on your plate and they have already put the bill on your table. Here you can sit for an hour after you've finished eating and have to ask for your bill. Growing up in the US the whole family ate dinner together, they don't do that anymore and that's changed the family dynamics. Here whole families with the kids, grandma and grandpa in tow come out to the free concerts in the plazas to socialize, eat and dance into the evenings. There is a taco place down the street from me that stays open and packed until 2 am and will stay open later if it's really busy. Some spots in centro stay open until 4 am and don't really get busy until 11 or 12 am. Buena suerte!

    In Costa Rica we have also invested heavily in new highways and commuter trains. I’m always shocked by the poverty and at the deterioration I see whenever I’m in the USA.

    Thank you, thank you! For telling others that Mexico is a relatively safe place to live, that we are polite and that our gastronomy is great. And the weather is also very pleasant. I lived in Paris, France, for 10 years. It’s beautiful but I’m happy to be back in Mexico.

    Great video.
    When visiting mom in Guadalajara, I've noticed that sitting outside her house people passing by would say, good morning, good afternoon, good evening. Another is when eating at testaurant a customer leaving their table would say, buen probecho, sort of saying health to you. Ive been in the states for over 50 years..
    Hope our two countries can have a better relationship 😊

    I was born in Mexico, but have lived in Texas my whole life, being brought here at 4 years old. I love America, grew up fully Americanized. I was a boy scout, served in 82nd Airborne in Panama and Desert Storm, served in Texas National guard. But I didn't forget my roots. I loved El Chavo Del Ocho as much as I did The Brady Bunch. And I can enjoy Ramon Ayala as much as I do Chris Stapleton. I know Americans and I know Mexicans well. Nobody beats Mexicans at enjoying life the most, with the least. Anyone who has worked around Mexicans can see that. How they joke and laugh all day, share whatever they have with each other. It's a wholesome way to face life.
    America used to be like that, for a short while in my youth. Back when we had a middle class. Now hate is what drives America. Our society has become wars between groups who only know each other through video clips on lcd screens. It has made everybody stressed and hostile. That environment is not a high quality of life. So God willing, I will retire to Mexico, where they still respect their elders and the traditional family values are still practiced as a culture. I will always love America, Would pick up arms to defend her again, I'm just getting too old to deal with what it's becoming. Surrounding myself with polite happy people seems a higher quality of life than the material things available in America.

    Everything you said about mexico is right on.
    Yes, it makes me sad that here in the united states, we are not leading the world in innovation.
    Other nations like Mexico are moving ahead while we fall behind.
    Thank you for your beautiful video. 😊

    Hello! I'm Mexican and I agree with your entire video. I have many relatives who live in Houston-Texas, and they also think the same as you. Even my uncles prefer to come to the doctor in Mexico City and have their treatment done here instead of in the States.
    Thank you for your kind comments about Mexico.
    You are welcome ❤️🇲🇽

    Claudia Sheinbaum todays president is continuing what the previous president started. Not only the Maya train or the Istmus train, he built roads, freeways, 2 huge solar plants one in the north and one in the south, built a huge refinery in record time, built 2 airports; one in Mexico City and one in Tulum, built 300 new hospitals some of them were abandoned by previous president's. Refurbished 2 Coking plants, bought a refinery from Shell that was ½ owned by PEMEX. Now the country no longer buys gasoline and gas from your country. Another nice thing he made constitutional is scholarships for the poor youth, increased the minimum wage, financial help for the elderly above 65 years of age. Claudia has 100 projects on her list, the trains is one of them.
