Another Awesome tip man!! I installed mine last night, then gonna take your advice about this mod. Your the King of modding our mods to make them Bullet proof (or at least more durable) lol. Thanks again brother for the content!!!👍🏽🙏🏽
I did the same but with a 4mm cap head. Just turn the od of the head down. Drill and a grinder done one second And threads at the shear point doesn't really matter . Imo The gap on the underside of wing to tower i filled that with some hot glue. 3drc wing mount are 10/10 cheapest best mod. Just got my second wing mount in for my typhon got the super bash bumper spring to.
hahaha when you drill the wrong hole. i bought a used LWB Outcast that had spacers for the body mounts just like the red ones you have, but he had the motor cover / body anti-crush piece you know those long screws that have a pin on one end?. those screws were too long obv, but i took that very same screw that you identified and i had a spare in the tackle and used it for an OEM wing mount repair in the field. it's still on there a year later. the wing i just looked, at and you're right. i didn't even realize it isn't all trashed out like the previous one. Anyway i just got lazy and didn't do the other side. guess i have a project for this week!
Wheelie bar is also a problem, added weight more stress One of the reasons Arrma did not add a wheelie bar in the design process Proper throttle control negates the need for a wheelie bar Anyway, keep up the good work with the videos my friend✌️
Thanks… and thanks for the feedback. It’s funny you mention that, I found the opposite to be true. Maybe it’s just the roll of the dice with each of our experiences. This is the vid I posted on the topic. ua-cam.com/video/2tFwZI-kkeI/v-deo.html
🥰great video and I think that’s going to be an awesome mod. Let me know how that holds up long term and we can make a second style that can accommodate this mod.
I've had great luck out of my hot racing aluminum wing mount but I got one of these 3d printed mounts just for a backup. I figure I'd need it but I seem to not be able to kill the hot racing one yet lol
Was your wing at an angle out of the box? The left front side of the body was in the chassis and my wing was leaning as if molded wrong or had weight on it causing it to be slanted. The wing mounts were straight. So I baught a Talion wing and put it on. Looks cool and is straight so I know the Kraton one in the box was warped a lil. No biggy but couldn't stand seeing it new with a crooked wing.
@@EastTactics I have the broken Typhon 3s wing, or just the top and wheelie bar, on the Notorious 6s do to it being a tazmanian devil is hard not to break its wing, the Typhon 6s wing on the 3s, the Notorious wing on the Typhon 6s, and now a Talion wing on the Kraton 6s. Not one of my arrma have the OG wings on the vehicles.
not a good mount for bashing. it breaks where it mounts to the tower. Getting it off is a nightmare after it breaks. The rubber is not strong enough to hold the nut while you turn it so I had to cut it off. It took a lot of extra time. Like an hour. By the way the 8s wing mount breaks even easier. Go with RPM for the win.
Thanks, maple, but with all due respect, the whole point of this video is addressing that very issue and providing a solution that not only overcomes it, but makes the wing out extremely viable. I agree with you without this modification. The 3-D RC wing mount is not good. But with this modification, it’s insanely good. I even have another modification in addition to this one that takes a step further adding support to the weak area. Once they implemented, the full value of the flexibility of the swing amount becomes quite excellent for bashing.
appreciate your videos brother. Had a question for you about clearance between the 3drc mount and the nut capturing the screw. Did u have to shave your wing mount to clear the nut?
If you’re referring to after popping the long bolt through the wing mount through the shock tower, where it just peaks out, just enough for the threads to show. No, I didn’t have to shave anything there. But I did have to place the nut there, holding it in place with my hand, and then start screwing. So that I can avoid the small issue with clearances. If that makes sense. Again…Didn’t have to shave anything on the inside side of the shock tower regarding the wing mount. Does that answer your question?
🤔 it was tight, very tight, but I didn’t have to shave anything. If you want, you could send me an email with pictures and I’ll respond to you there with pictures of my own. Just look for the email address in the description. Or you can send me a question through the “Asq me” feature also found in the description. You can send pictures that way too.
Thanks a lot EastTactics. Im gonna go this way, but im struggling to get hold of the 3drc wingmount in the UK. You said this mod works with the RPM wingmounts?
Oh, for sure, it works with every wing mount. Because that’s a weak spot on every wing mount. It’s just particularly week on the 3DRC wing mounts, which are my favorite because of their flexibility. My only concern with an RPM wing mount (at least the classic one) and the stock mount, and others is more often than not. …They snap higher up on the body of the shaft, as opposed to ripping or popping off the screw (even though that happens to). So with that said it may or may not be necessary to go to the trouble of the mods I suggest because again it’s about a 50-50 percent chance that when you have a bad landing youll snap the main rod anyway. The 3DRC wing mounts don’t break along the main sections of the shaft because they’re so flexible. But they are extremely weak at the base attachment points… Hence the mods.
Dude I’ve always used a 4m bolt with a nut on until I swapped over to a UK branded 3DRC wing mount style But I never liked that nut on the end so when I swapped over to this style wing mount I tapped the bulk head and the M2C tower to accommodate the 4m bolt I’m not using a Ally bulk head yet, just the stock ones still, but I’m using the stock bulk head as the nut. As I said I’ve been doing this since pretty much day one, I’m planning on swapping to HR diff housing but I was thinking of doing the same thing, just tapping the bulk head and sticking a bit of blue loctite on the bolt. I’ve also found that if I tighten the bolts up too much “yes” it squeezed in to the wing mount too much which encourages it to pull through so I’ve put a washer on the end that sits flat inside the bolt hole For me it’s working, I just don’t like the idea of making holes bigger to be able to slide a bolt through when you can use those parts by giving them a thread to further hold everything in place You see what I’m getting at? I still agree with the vid though it’s way better than standard!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘👍👍👍👍💪💪💪💪
9:57 you logic is flawed. if it does break your still gonna have a part threaded into the bulkhead. i have broken 4 or 5 screws off in my bulkhead, all fully threaded. its never once been hard to get the screw out of the wing mount. the difficulty comes in getting the remaining part out of the bulkhead in which your "solution" doesnt do anything to solve
Negative my good friend, the logic is there. The specific screws that I’m recommending are not threaded anywhere, but the very end. So if one breaks then there is no threads making purchase to the bulkhead. When you drill the bulkhead out to accommodate for the bolt, it simply slides all the way through. The threads at the very end of the bolt are just for the locknut. The main logic in this mod however is that it simply does not break, and provides massive strength to the 3drc weak point. 💪💪
@@dirtrider88 ha ha, I hear ya. You’re definitely committing to the mod if you do… It’s been tank for me this far. Even if I go back to using a classic wing mount. Running this 4 mm rod through it (extension and all) still adds strength to them to. But I understand. 😂
Damn why didn’t I think of getting the front bumper for the rear. Genius haha

Proper throttle control negates the need for a wheelie bar

Yes we are referring to the same thing. But on mine the nut gets in the way and it’s a pretty low profile nut.
To clarify the nut gets in the way of the wing mount not the shock tower. I’m running the stock plastic diff housing.
