I did this to the outside panels of my Axial Wraith years ago for a custom look. The side effect was an incredibly durable body as well. Not sure why I never did this to strengthen the body from the inside! Cool idea!
Seriously... this is an awesome idea, I literally just did exactly what you were talking about, shoe goo and mesh tape to my 1/16 erevo, and yes it took forever! Glad I stumble upon this video before I touched my 1/7 arrma Mojave!
Yeah that's a good idea I use flex spray it dries hard just like Rhino Lining. That's really cool actual Rhino Lining. Everyone have a good day and don't let off the throttle
I did this to my Rustler, Slash, and Krayton about a year ago, and they are still holding like new. Paid $25 per, and it's well worth it.
Wow that’s awesome dude, never have thought of that, appreciate you sharing. I have a body that will be arriving late to have this done again thank you for sharing that’s super cool, I’ll be watching for more great video, this is the beauty of the hobby yeah love it
I did mine with something similar... worked amazing on my bodies
Great video! Always love all your mods and suggestions! Thanks for the giveaways also!! Keep Throttling!!
Thats really a gamechanger, hope i can find some dealer at my country. Mega thanks giving this pro tip
I’ve thought about doing the same to my truck bodies. Thanks for review on it. Now I will definitely look into doing it. Tired of tearing up bodies bashing all the time.
That’s awesome, I’m glad you did this. I’m next up. I was thinking about doing it, I wasn’t sure if it’s worth it til I saw your other video. I subd
Yeah that looks slick I’m gonna have to get my new rustler body done
Yes! This is a great way to do it. The FlexSeal works great to..that's an "EASIER" way to do it, that's why I use that method. There aren't any places near me that do that.
Ya the flex seal works Great and it comes Black, White, and Clear too! I've been using it for the last three years and holds up great! I even put fiberglass tape along the side lower half of the body and spray over that and repairs as needed!😉👍
That is a pretty cool idea. I had the interior done in my jeep and rocker guards and it has help up for over 20 years. And another alternative is Raptor liner, which is a kit to do this at home. Killer vid!!!🤘🤘🤘
Thanks JD, ya I seen that Raptor stuff come up a few times in my research. Good stuff you say? do you still apply a primer before hand?
@@EastTactics I personally I have not used it. However a couple of guys in my off road club bought a kit and have used it on tons of stuff for their rigs and other things. I do believe there is a degreaser and primer.
Good stuff, I was just thinking about lining my kraton body. Content is always on point. Great job, I had to subscribe to keep up with your posts.
SUBSCRIBED AND SMASHED THE BELL BABY. I've been telling people in the comments about this for a couple years, glad to know I'm not the only one!! Now I'm going to do just the inside, thanks man
This is game changing to, to prevent edge tearing. 👍👍

WOW!! Im new to RC but i just me one and im hooked. looking up everything and your video pop'd up and i think i may try this.
Awesome brother! Thx for following, hope my stuff pops up for ya along your journey. And is helpful. Ever need to contact me, just hit me up in the comments, I’ll make you a priority! 😎👍
Looks awesome. Thanks for the idea, can't wait to see how much my local rhino liner charges me.
Lol... guess if they give you a hassles you could show’m the vid and be like... wtf! Lol
Let me know how it turns out😎👍
Looks great. I’m taking a body in tomorrow. I appreciate your video. Thanks
I lined mine with flex seal, it’s very flexible and rubberized. It’s been great so far! And is only about $11 for a can!
@@thatoneguy2756 it’s okay, it doesn’t really add much strength to the structure. Lining the inside with flex tape or gorilla tape definitely helps strengthen everything!
Great information, I'm gonna have to locate my local Rino Liner location, I have a Rustler body I'm gonna be painting, looks like a great way to preserve the body.
That will be my next project.Lining . Bravissimo again for a great video.
I never heard of or seen any mod like this ,
Ive seen the shoo goo technique,
Thanks for sharing 👍🏻👊🏻🇬🇧
Very cool 👍🏼 hopefully it holds up.
Thanks for all the tips! I hope it works and will be interested to see how this holds up long term. I am doing my EXB body now with ShoeGoo and drywall tape. With the way your were able to tear it, I'm concerned the liner will rip when it cracks, but a great $30 experiment if nothing else.
It's actually a $90 experiment ($30 for this experiment plus another $60 for a new shelf queen body). ;)
Thats a great idea using rinno linning to bash proof your RC. I jus might have to do the same to my X-MAXX 8S.
THANXSOMUCH FOR THE IDEA.
KEEP ON BASHING!!
Great point on showing bed liner spray.. NOT THE SAME!!! Dont make that mistake. Great video
Man I was wondering if truck liner would work I’m glad you showed me store bought own as good so I’ll be looking for rhino dealer. Thanks bud.
I'm new to the RC World and this looks like a wonderful idea
Form and function, I love it. My full size F250 is Rhino lined. Love the look and, Yes, by far cooler than ShooGoo.
Nice! So you know first hand the quality of rhino lining. Thx for sharing.😎👍
Cant wait for the outcomes of that.. 👌😎👌
You answered my question of rhino lining
I have been looking to see if anybody has done this. thank you so much for taking a chance. I'm fixing to do this to my x-maxx. 🏎💨💯
Looks good! Hope it works as good as it looks!
My gut says it going to do really well. Course I’ve been punched in the gut pretty hard too... and it hurts! Lol
Will keep you updated on how she holds up.😎👍
Be curious to see how this holds up. I’ve used shoo goo on several bodies and it does take time
Loving the look of it, has the OEM look to it
That is an awesome idea with having the inside of ur rc sprayed with the rhino liner. This is the first video of ur that I have seen. I am going 2 sub also more then likely I will b joining ur channel. Really that is an awesome idea.
Chris! That is much appreciated! Got lots of outside the box ideas for ya. Thx for joining😎👍
Just buy a Raptor bed liner kit and do it yourself. You will have tons of left over product to do multiple bodies afterwards also. It’s about 90$ for the kit and comes with the application gun. I’ve done a bunch of truck beds at work with it and it’s just as durable as rhino liner. It gives you the chance to DIY.
Does it also recommend, or come with a primer stage before you apply the liner?
@@EastTactics all you need to do is prep it with mineral spirits. A light scuff with a grey scotch brite pad will do. It’s a really great product for a low cost. Btw I liked your video.
Awesome brother, thanks for sharing the information. I’m really excited about these new ideas for protecting our bodies!💪👍😎
Definently watching to see how this holds up over time.
A NEW body will have a CLEAR Protective wrap over the Outer Side ,to protect any leakage from Primer or ect..Great Vid ..🤞💯🙏🇺🇸
Awesome think I will try this as some point.
I'm not crazy about shoe goo in my nose for half a day. Looks strong and definitely stuck to the body!
Yeah shoe goo and drywall tape is good but a pain in the ass to do lol. I've done it twice, first and last haha
@@ronbrannen887 it does help strengthen bodies really well! I will keep doing it,pain in the ass or not!😒🙄🥴
Wow man that shit looks awesome i would of gotten my whole body done like that. probably just put on some batman stickers. great idea on that East Tac
This might be the next step in body reinforcement
i acquired a used slash about 3 years ago, the body was in pretty good shape but did have a couple small cracks, i washed the inside real good then wiped it down with alcohol, covered the cracks and other stress areas with drywall tape then sprayed the whole inside with 2 coats of spray bed liner i got from walmart and the body has held up really well every since and it only cost me about $10 to do it........
I will definitely look into getting that done
Cheers
I had my Kraton 4S body done prof by Line-X in NY last year, but i had them spray the top part of the body because I wanted that all black look. but my next bodies that I have them do will be exactly how you got yours done underneath so I can still keep the paint job. I was charged $30, But yeah YOU HIT IT RIGHT ON THE HEAD WITH THIS ONE... What's funny is that I've actually had people clown my body upgrade...I laughed it off because I know how amazing this upgrade really is....You can beat it with a baseball bat 17835617856 times and it'll be like nothing even happened to it. GREAT VIDEO!!!
I've seen people have great luck with the drywall mesh and shoe goo. The shoe goo remains somewhat flexible so it's definitely going to be tough.
Great video! I’ve wondered about doing that same thing.👍
Yes… it’s been rock solid so far. The car edge lining complements it too. Thx for watching😎👍
Nice video brother much love 👊
I use flex seal with bed liner. Did a body over a year ago and it's held up great!!
20 bucks for a can from auto parts , done . Many or as little coats as you want. I think he went on a bit . Cost him 30 .
There really is a pretty significant difference between 90% of the stuff you can buy on the store shelves versus the professional grade liners. In both the actual spray. As well as the primer. Sorry I do ramble a bit.😝
Raptor spray is one such that I’ve heard it’s pretty good quality. You can find that product if you check out the master link in the description.
@@EastTactics as long as we get the plastic bodies to last a bit longer . It’s all good. I did one of my first in shoe goo and drywall tape. Never again. And kudos to the primer. I just scuffed mine with scouring pad and wax and grease remover. 👍
I hear ya, And agree 100%. The shoe goo and drywall mesh is a mess, and a bit of a chore. Thanks for watching my channel
@@EastTactics no problem. I’ve been only doing this hobby for almost a yr now . So I love all content especially being able to learn new stuff and ideas.
Awesome video! Thanks for the time you took to show us this. Appreciate every detail you went over. Much love brother!
Sweet next body i get im doing this
Time go get a new body for the Arrma Talion and try Rhino lining. Good video!
Great idea! Looks nice too
Thank you. This was really helpful
Great video ! Subbed! Look foward to future content 🤙🏼🔥
Had to give a like for the "seductive" way you put the tape over the holes in the top of the body!
I don’t have a Rino lining company but have 3 Line-X’s near me one of which is 10 minutes away, I taped up the cosmetic portion of the body after I sanded down key areas until I reached the clear portion of the body shell and resprayed those key areas for customization reasons (candy apple red w/ sparkles) I then had the undercarriage sprayed (Line-X is fairly flexible as well). The stock weight was right at 5oz, The final weight after Line-X is 188 grams or 6.67oz in case anybody was wondering. That weight is with a final coat of white Tamiya spray paint for polycarbonates over the Line-X for that final touch and it looks absolutely Epic!
Awesome brother! Thanks for relaying. Line x is the other (if not only other) professional liner I could recommend. Well played!! Thx for watching!
AWESOME IDEA. thanks. I found a product on Amazon called Raptor bed liner and primer which comes In aerosol and the liner spray comes in different colors. It runs about $30 a can. I’m going to give it a shot. Thanks for the great idea. I imagine it adds a bit of weight, but I’m just a basher, I’m not in any sort of competitions so weight isn’t something I’m concerned with.
Great video keep up the great work.
Dry wall tape then spray with bed liner!! Jk! I just love to work on these things! Just as much as playing with them or if not more.
Definitely interested on seeing how it does
I used the rubberized undercoat and good
Hey yo I've got an Arrma Notorius that I converted to a Mojave chassis the thing is a brute! Thanks for all the great info.
I have tried that cheap stuff before. Yes it sucks. Really cool you went to actual Rhino Liner place. Great video. I just did the drywall and shoe glue method. I wish someone would come out with something like this from the jump. Curious how it holds up. Lets us know in due time.
We have a guy that does it for us in Los.Angeles. Super strong
I like the rhino liner tactic.
After a ton of research, and trial and error on a few of my own ideas that ended up not so well and messy, a time sink, and expensive. DIY shoegoo (or some type of apoxy) + some type of reinforcement structure still is the best (for DIY). But to save time and money, I found a Liner place that was around 2 miles from my house. (Patriot Liner Brand). I spent 10 minutes taping it off, paid $20 to get it lined, and about 10 minutes trimming the overspray on the edges. It is by far superior! Thanks for the video!
@@EastTactics drive.google.com/file/d/18N8j5jetWV9YLOX56RcurQwvSCGPuC_I/view?usp=sharing
That looks so good. Love that you put the car lining edging on as well. that’s perfection!
wow, thank you for this video! I have always wanted something like this. Just spray on it and get such a great result. Good - even if a professional must do it with the right primer and so - 30 dollars is worth it. I hope Arrma, Traxxas and all the other crooks see this. They should team up with Rhino and throw tuned bodies on the market. Win win situation by another use case brought to you by East Tactics. That would certainly reduce their aftermarket sales - but which they can make up for with the slightly more expensive super-rhino bodies. Someone has to start. Very cool video, thanks for sharing! Hope I find something like that in Germany.
Amen brother let me know if you find something similar, glad you found the video thanks for following
I also used this and never posted the video.. Definitely works to make it stronger and heavy but the smell is unbearable and never goes away..
I ended up buying the metallic fiver tape..way cleaner job..
Good video man.. Cheers
Thanks! I appreciate you liking the video. You mentioned you used this rhino method? Or were you referring to a different method? I only ask because this rhino job that was done on my body has absolutely no smell whatsoever
I have heard that the shoe goo method has a ton of smell, and naturally is pretty messy. That metallic fiber tape seems interesting. I’ll be sure to keep you updated on the bash resistance of this rhino liner tactic. thanks for commenting.
@@EastTactics Cool man... Maybe the Rhino liner I used was too strong and still smells on some of the bodies that I've used it on... I used the Rubberized undercoating they sell at ACE hardware similar to the Rhino liner maybe your brand dries out with no smell that might be the case with yours... I ended up using the five tape after due to the smell.... Cheers man..
Yeah no problem, I do believe there is a big difference between the store-bought bed lining sprays (brand-name or not) and the stuff that you would get from a professional rhino outfitters. Cheers
Looks great!!
Gravel guard. Buy it at auto parts store or tractor supply in rattle can use a primer that is compatible with the plastic. Cost should be less than $30 for enough to do 10 average size rc cars/trucks
Awesome product will defo look 👀 into it
Ooooh primer very professional
Looks cool thought about it myself but couldn’t find any info
👍
If you don't want to spend a lot of money get a 20$ roll of Nashua 357 tape its very tough and bonds well with rc bodies I put it on my chevy truck body for my trx4 and I can bend it in half and after 5 outings in the mud and water it is still stuck to the body when most other tapes started to peel off after 3 outings that tape is what I mostly use I never thought to rhino line them 👍
Just signed up for patreon to show a little bit of support and gradatud for what you are doing thank you
Nice! $30 is well worth it not shoe gooing for over an hour and smelling those fumes. 👍
I figured the real rhino lining will melt the body as it comes out at a very hot temp
Linex's prices went up recently. My 1/8 scale body was 90 bucks last time. For both sides. My kraton 8s body was 80 bucks a year ago. Totally worth it. Now I want to try rhino liner next time. I do this to every body I have period. Makes the shoogoo thing obsolete
Omg… so true.
Take it pre taped… it strongly implies you intend to save money.
Walk in and be like this will take your guys like 5 mins…
Mine cost 30 I believe. Every shop will be different tho. So is what it is. But ya TOTALLY WORTH IT!
Thanks for a great video. So how has the body lasted ?
Better than anything I’ve ever done. But I do think it important in combination to rhino lining it to put the car lining that I talk about on as well. And those zip ties in for support
I use dry wall tape and flex seal from a spray can works really good and is flexible I had a kid push in the top of my truck body and it just popped right back out
I use Flex Seal. Works great. $15 bucks a can and you can do 2 to 3 coats and I have enough to do 4+ bodies. I tape nothing off when I spray. This With the Tape before and the cutting and pealing and trimming and glue and pads and after the drive time... Not worth it at least to me. You will destroy the outside of that body before all that work you did is use full. Thanks for the Vid. 👍👍
This process clearly appears as though it would be a premium method of ensuring the durability of a RC body. I personally would not be concerned about the weight of this finished product if the result is as it appears.
Love the video bro
Great the rhino lining I was looking for something else shoo goo is great but expensive
I use cheap bedliner in a can then flex seal while it's still wet. Ends up tougher than just flex seal and not as brittle as straight bedliner.
Discovered without that screw system you have; can’t really get the body on with foam. The foam do thick does let the holes for clips be available
I’m sure if you push down it will squeeze the foam and depress the zip ties enough to pop the clips through. If too much pressures is needed reduce foam to a thickness of one
i saw a rc body sprayed with said product that melted, didn't witness it being done but saw the aftermath, im thinking no primer applied don't know..
Weight of stock vs rhino?
Stock body - 5oz
After Rhino - 10.06oz
Adds 5.06oz
Totally worth it... IMO 😎👍
@@EastTactics completely agree considering every replacement part for arma is outrageously over priced
@@EastTactics im testing this with my friend. Its a competitor so the material is a little different. I will have to weigh it. I think its heavy, but it was just a test with no tape. So overspray adds weight too.
Cool, let me know how it turns out
@@EastTactics im thinking i tripled the weight. Not necessarily bad for a bashing truck. But not good for racing. Maybe he can go a little lighter on the next ones.
