    Anybody can slap together a plastic model, but you always take it to another level, Chris. Those sisal cables and ropes and the tarp on the lifeboat are outstanding.

    Loved watching you build this one, H. I've lusted for this kit now and then, but never seen a build process. You did a very nice job.

    I engineered a stern wheeler about that size, only diesel (GMC 6-71, chain drive). Puget Sound and Lake Washington. Job only lasted about eight years, then on to tugs. This is a memory flogger and inspiration both. Now a spry 74, I do plastic models, HO scale shelf trains and kinetic "micro" dioramas. Your channel is a continual source of inspiration, education, resources and most important, ENTERTAINMENT.

    Another great video, Chris! You are Lindberg's best advertisement! I'll add this to my to- build list. Great detail. What I like most about your videos is the enthusiasm- you have fun and it shows!

    The model looks great! You have a lot of neat techniques like the masking tape tar paper and the ropes. It very realistic. Thanks for sharing this.

    Great jib Chris, I love the added detail. I did the same technique with my chairs on the Trek bridge with the painters tape to add detail, and it turned out great. I'd like to see you build the Orca, cause you know they'll need a bigger boat. Awesome vid bud. Build on Brother.

    nice kit you put together. as a second gen. river rat we call ropes lines or lock lines. also I was wondering what they were thinking when they put the stacks in front of the pilot house.....impedes the captain or pilot from seeing everything infront of him. glad they didn't stay that way.needless to say I really enjoyed watching this boat being put together.

    • @hpiguy
      @hpiguy  6 років тому +1

      Thanks for watching and I always appreciate the extra info! I also agree, the boiler should have been turned around with the stacks in back. They learned as they went.

    Any special observations about building the railngs? I noticed they did a nice job with the bases to make sure you knew which way the supports were supposed to face. Thoughts?

    • @hpiguy

      I sure do. I mixed a custom color and shot the Mr Bean car among others.
      I also did it for the Revell Sherman and the Takom Kamaz truck recently.

      Inside if I recall, but I know it's shown numerous times i the review so just match what you see in the video.

    I love watching your videos! As an avid modeler myself I mostly build cars. I have recently purchased the Robert E. Lee paddle boat for something different. I was glad to come across this for some tips. I do have a tech question though......when you build your cars, you do as I do and assemble pretty much and then got back and detail paint. With this type of project that is similar to what I am going to build, what do you do and use to glue the already painted parts together? Do you scrape paint and glue, or use something other than the traditional model glue and super glue over the paint? Any help is appreciated and thank you in advance! John

    • @hpiguy
      @hpiguy  5 років тому

      I use CA (super glue) on any painted parts. I don't remove the paint, just a drop or two of CA does the trick.
      All the rest gets bonded with Plastruct Bondene, which is my personal preference for styrene glue.

    on the corners of the hull the lines for the planking tends to kind of fade off. How did you resolve this, did you rescribe the lines? If so how did you resolve this with the existing lines which are raised?

      I just build models for fun, I rarely worry about such things. Out of the box and have a good time is my MO.

  • @devlieg72
    @devlieg72 3 роки тому

    The old version from the 1970s came with an electric motor that drove the paddles. I almost caught my death from pneumonia running the thing on a local pond in the winter.

  • @richardlott8349
    @richardlott8349 3 роки тому

    So I used the 3 craft paints that you used for this kit, which I had received last Christmas from my brother, and have to admit this just did not work right for me. I had to do at least 3 layers of the craft paint to get good coverage and it does not cover well. Also, it dries kind of rough textured and tends to clump up. Did you have this experience with those craft paints?

      Hello, that's incredibly nice of you. I'm taken back by your generosity.
      I don't accept gifts from people but I do appreciate the gesture.
      I think you should crack it open and build it and send me pics, a tribute if you will. OR, even better, build it with a kid and get them into modeling. That would make me very happy to know that I helped somewhat for someone to enjoy their hobby even more.
      Thank you many times over for thinking of me. :)

      please except this as a early or late birthday prezzie...hahaha.....i promise i will not do it again...but....please brother it is a gift and it is by etiquette bad manners to refuse a gift...to the best of my knowledge you served in some way...so did i in England and yes you would be surprised of the action i have seen that you know is always kept quiet and how the media barely know 10% of the real service life and the enormous acts around the world that nobody tells the media about or the population would be in a state of panic lmao....an old school friend who is in the royal navy told me that the saying was aboard ship that '' we stop an open war at least once a week,if it is a quiet one'' lmao......use my private email and i will send it and apologise for what has happened by putting you on the spot which was never my intention and for that i am truly sorry...but please just this once and only one time thank you gift..it is a kit designed for a 1970 representation of a thing lol....special edition and it was the year i was born so seemed fitting and i know that it is not in production....i did not spend a fortune as i was very lucky to fall on a brand new and UNOPENED BOX....please let me say thank you for this once and ''ONLY'' once...again i apologise for this i was not thinking enough and have offended you....sorry brother i did not mean to....please first and only and i genuinely mean it that i will not do it again and this is also the first time i have done this for anyone on you tube...i just thought you would like it and after all i have watched every build video you do and nobody does it like you..and i love it as really good entertainment and education for an old modeller just get restarted after many years of non practise and you have genuinely helped me and the product choices i have made after being re-educated by your technique's and how you get around so many expensive ways like nobody i have seen before or since,so you have done me many favours and it is just a thank you for saving me a lot.....again i apologise for over stepping your unknown boundaries and should have asked before i bought it...i never intended to do the wrong thing..it was just a thank you for all you had done(unintentionally) for me....sorry brother....very sorry,just wanted to say thanks to you...please use my private email to keep your response more private if it helps...sorry....
