Do people not know how big black bears can get? Just look at places who have restricted or no hunting, black bears there can reach adulthood and full size. It takes a male nearly 8-10 years to be fully grown. Plenty of 700-800 pound black bears here in NJ. Even 1,100 pound black bears have been caught. They are large bears, 3rd largest in the world for a reason.

current world record is 880 lbs. Killed in NC. We have the most and biggest in the country. We have nearly 5 million acres of public land. But yeah, Jersey got some big boys, too.
@@briargoatkilla 100%. I think I read somewhere that black bears in NC get so big because they have a more seafood rich diet on the coast. It’s equivalent to Kodiak bears being so big because of the prolific salmon runs.
