Apps on Nobara have been a lot more stable for me than Fedora 40. I've had to do way like F'ing around with it to get things done and trust me, I have a lot of needs
WHY isn't FEDORA like NOBARA? I mean this is the way it should be (EASY for the Beginners) If FEDORA really wants to get lots of potential...this is the best way!
Most developers on fedora are purist in the open source application only included with the operating system. The problem with that is that well there is not a good alternative some things like drivers to certain devices.
Had Fedora Workstation Plasma on my daily driver for 2 years now and LOVE it- most stable OS I've ever used. You should also look at Ultramarine- it is "bug for bug" compatible with Fedora. It is basically the same as what Gecko does for Open SUSE or Spiral for Debian.
Great video! I've also had issues installing the KDE version. Funny enough the GNOME version worked very well. I'm still using it to play steam games and practice bash on my main laptop. Any idea why there's this difference between KDE and GNOME?
well, one of my gripes against fedora is that kde has always felt like a second class citizen, and nobara is based on fedora, so.... maybe something there?
I used Fedora 39 for a good while and tried Fedora 40 in the live environment but I've been on Tumbleweed for a few months and have mostly enjoyed that. I haven't really tried Nobara since I might prefer CachyOS but it's good to know that there are pros and cons to both Fedora proper and Nobara.
honestly in the short time I tried Nobara I didn't see anything that would pull me away from tumbleweed. And it being a one man band doesn't help either.
I tried it but there are too many little wrong move which could break something. I hate the bugs I see whenever I log in and log out. Those error messages that should not exist
I like Nobara a lot but keep falling back on Mint after each try. Games play fine in Mint but they seem cleaner and faster in Nobara. My laptop has an older Nvidia card so problems pop-up in Nobara (only in games). I have used these versions: 36 Games ran fine (small black streaks) 37 Games have big black areas (cannot play) 38 Like 36 with bigger and more streaks 39 Like 36 with smaller streaks Does 40 make any real changes? Regards
I don't know. I've asked in reddit and on the forums and got more help in reddit LOL www.reddit.com/r/kde/comments/1bv323b/kde6_tablet_mode_rotate_screen/
imo opinion they are about the same. dnf5 (i think the most current) is a bit faster than zypper. but they are working to make zypper faster so it should improve there. syntax is very similar, dnf install *package zypper install *package dnf remove *package zypper remove *package you can also shortcut zypper commands like so: zypper in *package and zypper up is short for update and zypper dup is short for distribution upgrade (use this for tumbleweed updates)
Thanks for the review. Here's my 2 cents. I'm also a Tumbleweed user, and I'm sticking to it like if I were holding a holy grail. However, Nobara looks good also, and since I'm a gamer, I might consider a switch, if it weren't a hobby distro. Imho in the #11 of his FAQ this phrase is veeeery a double edged sword, and this is why I'm not taking that as a serious distro: "As long as I am alive and using linux this project will continue" and he starts talking about his fater and such... this makes nobara and GloriousEggroll look so very unprofessional. I mean, I get it, its a hobby duct-taped distro that is held together by dream and love, but still, why making such a project, and ruin it with a FAQ like that?! Then don't distribute it IMHO - I wish Fedora would make an official spin like nobara's, so I'd defo take it from there, because at least I know they'll be there forever lol. Tumbleweed is still the #1
I didn't see anything in Nobara that would pull my interest away from tumbleweed and it being a one man band hurts it too. I like and appreciate everything GE does but if he decides he's getting tired of it his projects are done. Anything done in Nobara to make it game better can be done in any distro, I just don't know that the small increase in performance is worth the effort honestly.

greetings great man
he loves fedora os
Ultramarine Linux, also based on Fedora, has goals similar to Nobara. I kinda wonder why that guy doesn’t team up with them.
I tried it but there are too many little wrong move which could break something. I hate the bugs I see whenever I log in and log out. Those error messages that should not exist
I agree. I don't think it's a good choice for the average user.

18:11 PWA, Progressive Web App?
I know Nobara uses almost the latest Nvidia driver so wont work on older Nvidia gpu hardware.
I might be late for this but ask the Nobara discord about using older versions (tho it might not work with drivers before the 510 as far as I know)
Mattscreative this guy did upgrate to 40 from 39 nobara
Plasma6 tablet mode or screen rotation still doesn't rotate screen on Tumbleweed?
No. I just can't figure it out . Sensors are working. Just doesn't do it.
@@LowTechLinux On Nobara yours worked because it was plasma5 ?
No. It's working on plasma 6.0.5 on Nobara. It works with fedora plasma 6 too (which is probably why it's working with Nobara plasma 6).
@@LowTechLinux What's wrong with Tumbleweed mate? It has upgraded plasma packages yet doesn't function while Fedora is doing peak job sigh
