We’ve been traveling all over the country for several years now. Spain has a lot to offer and it is simply amazing! We’ve put together a few places that we consider the best to visit or live in. As a result, we’ve come up with top 5 coastal towns in Spain, which are Alicante, Denia, Moraira, Nerja and Calpe. Hope you enjoy it!

Nerja for sure would be on this list for me, But I would include Tarifa, Peñíscola, Tarragona and Soller in my top 5 :)

I'm glad that I found this video. We hve a cruise in 2024 that makes multiple stops in Spain. All of the cities look great except Motril. No I know that I can get to Nerja from Motril's cruise port in less than an hour. Thank you for this video!

Next time I visit Spain or hopefully will end up living there I want to visit all the places on the video, they are beautiful. Barcelona is one of my favourite cities in the whole world and a beautiful place I visited was Tossa de Mar. And I absolutely adore Estrella (Spanish Beer).

Having been to Spain 3 times, there are 3 on your list that I would love to visit: Alicante, Nerja and Moraira, I know Nerja is close to Malaga and I have visited Malaga but didn't get time to visit Nerja but I'm pretty sure we drove past it on our way to Granada from Torremolinos
I defenitely recommend to visit Alicante, Nerja and Moraira. You can visit Moraira when visiting Alicante as it is only one hour drive from Alicante

A good video for us would in particular be for retirement (we are legal residents and have been for 15 years) We're looking for affordable cost of living (under 1,000€ to include Costa Braca towns and villages. Also further south Murcia right around Costa del Sol. HOWEVER 😊 Doesn't have to be coastal, inland towns and villages would be extremely interesting. There's always too much on the coastal thing. I just discovered your videos, which I think are great! Thank you so much 🙏

I live in Altea Spain for 21 years and travelled through all 17 districs since 1973. San Sebastian, Peñíscola, Puerto Andraitx (Mallorca), Puerto Blanco (Lanzarote), Altea, Vilajoyosa, Tarifa and Cadiz I find more attractive than for instance Calpe and Denia.
Tastes are different. In my opinion some of downsides of Cadiz and Tarifa are that they are windy and the ocean is cold. The micro-climate in Denia and Calpe is considered one of the best in the world. One thing is for sure, food is better in Cadiz and Tarrifa :)
@@PlacesandBeaches That sounds plausible, water temperature and wind can indeed be a factor. But my wife and I also take over populated beaches in high season as a negative aspect.
Yes, this is another downside of coastal towns. Actually all coastal towns in Europe seem to be busy in the hot season, for obvious reasons - tourists :)

Good video -- the problem is that 4 of these towns are all next to each other and you should be looking all over Spain as well as Mallorca when you have the budget.

The tomato festival is in Pamplona. As for bull fighting, I don't know. To me this is cruel, people have fun watching how bulls are suffering.

@@PlacesandBeaches I’m 35, married and settled in China(coz my wife is Chinese). I’m from India. I want to invest in a few European countries with a high roi. My wife love beaches. So I was just looking on Alicante.
Yes, Alicante would be perfect for you as it has all the advantages of a city, such as an airport, shopping, restaurants, festivals, museums, nightlife, etc. Check my walking tour videos below to have a better idea about Alicante:

To me Calpe is the best in the area, but is much smaller (30K population) and more relaxed, also real estate is generally more expensive than in Alicante. :)

Spain also has an Atlantic coast with lovely towns (Santander, San Sebastian). Spain also has islands (Balearic, Canaries) but you would never guess this from the video. The comments on the 5 coastal towns are banal and cliché-ridden. Also the same images accompany comments on two different towns!
I will make more videos like this where I will include towns from regions mentioned by you. This video is referring more to mainland Spain. Towns in northern Spain are to rainy and cold. I will include cities such as San Sebastian, Bilbao, etc. in my top ten cities in Spain, but this video is about coastal towns which are good to relocate to or visit all year around. As for "the same image accompany comments on two different towns" what minute do you refer too?

Es su opinión yo doy otra: santa Cruz de Tenerife, Ibiza, Palma de Mallorca, Ciudadela y San Sebastián.
Santander has a good mid-coast location with water access and fresh seafood. And several dozen of relatives.
Have lived in Cantabria for one month, a beautiful region. The food is amazing :)

We have about 6 months over Spain and one trip to Fatima in Portugal. I love both but we have limited time in Portugal but we drove from Madrid to Fatima and on to Santiago de Compestella.

Which place would you most recommend on this list if relocating to Spain with 3 kids, 12, 9 and 5years? Love Denia but if others would be better would love to know your recommendation 😊
This is a hard question but, from my point of view is Calpe! Best place for you and your kids. I would recommend to try it for a month or two first :)
I'm split between Calpe and Altea. Although they're just next to each other. I don't have kids but I love hiking and cycling.
I would choose Altea. In my opinion Calpe is not a good value for money anymore. In the last year the prices doubled compared to neighboring towns, the crime rate is higher, there are many tall buildings being built at the moment. Altea is more authentic

WHAT IS NICE ABOUT SPAIN THE WEATHER IN GENERAL IS NICE AND THE WATER IS WARM AS IT IS THE MEDITERANEE IN PORTUGAL IT IS HE ATLANTIC THEREFORE THE WATER IS VERY COLD EVEN DURING SUMMER NOT SO MUCH IN THE ALGARVE VERY TOURISTIC
I miss here Cadiz the sister city of Havana. Not that touristic and at the atlantic. I prefer the Victoria Hotel. On the long ocean beach.
I have been having holidays in Cadiz for years, because I find the Mediterranean coast too hot in August. We just bought a flat in Sanlucar de Barrameda because it's way more affordable than Cadiz, and a lot quieter.
What i read on comments, people love those areas but i see after a while living there , I wonder why they do not stayed there then and left back to their countries.
There is no industry in these towns. To be able to live in such towns, you have to work remotely or have some huge savings :)

Calpe looks cool. You can pretend you are in Rio without worrying about being robbed at gunpoint.
Yeah, but these coastal towns are all in the same small area of Costa Blanca and Costa del Sol. There are many, many other coastal towns that are as good, if not better, further north on the Mediterranean, the Atlantic side, and the Cantabrian side; not counting all the coastal towns in the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands.

First went to Calpe and Denia over 35 years ago, if you ask me they are totally ruined now.

Went to Calpe on Holiday every year between 1978-83. Then my Nan had a Bungalow in the quieter part of Benidorm so stayed there instead. Idyllic part of my childhood.

These people do not know Spain, they missed the coasts of Catalonia, Euskadi, Cantabria, Asturias, Galicia, Cadiz, Granada, Almeria, and Murcia. In other words, they got nine out of eleven, not to mention the Baleric and Canary Islands.
I have traveled everywhere you have mentioned and this is my top 5 coastal towns. I will definitely include the islands and the northern part in another top of my favourite places. By the way you can check some cities mentioned by you in my previous videos.
😂😂😂😂😂 No has pisado Galicia en tu vida. Tenemos 1.630 Kms de Costa(mas kms que Andalucia y Cataluña juntas) y casi 900 playas. A tomarle el pelo a otro.
I have visited the northern part too, it is gorgeous. Galicia is most of the time rainy, that is why it is not included in this video. I will definitely add it to my other top videos.

En lo que llevamos de año he perdido la cuenta de las danas, tormentas e inundaciones en el Mediterráneo y sobre todo en la comunidad valenciana( Aún no hace mucho que estuvo nevando en Alicante, Almería y Murcia)En los meses de marzo,abril y la mitad de mayo, prácticamente no han visto el sol, y dificilmente superaban los 15° de máxima, mientras que en las Rias Baixas teníamos temperaturas superiores a los 24°. Soy de Vigo, la segunda ciudad más grande del todo el oeste de la peninsula Ibérica, después de Lisboa. Vigo se encuentra en el top 5 de las ciudades con mejor clima de España. Somos el mayor puerto pesquero de Europa y de los mayores del mundo. Vigo es la ciudad más grande de España que no es capital de provincia. La Ría de Vigo es la segunda más grande del mundo(y la más bonita) tras la Ría de Arousa(también en Pontevedra). Vigo es la ciudad líder de España en banderas azules, 11. Y el municipio líder en España es Sanxenxo, con 17 (también en Pontevedra). Y para tu información, una de las mejores playas del mundo está en Vigo, en las Islas Cíes, las islas de los dioses así llamada por los romanos y por Julio Cesar. Y hablando de Julio: Julio Verne le dedica un capítulo a la Ría de Vigo en 20.000 leguas de viaje submarino. (ciudad que visitó y le encandiló). Y ya. Que te vaya bien cuando vengas de "visita".
For the life of me, how on earth did you miss the best on the costa blanca - Villajoyosa?....its has a large uncrowded beach in peak season, historic roman bridge & colourful fishersmans houses, 3 tram stops, marina, great promenade, non touristy, no high rise buildings + world heritage Christian & Moors event in late july................with respect, it seems as if you looked at a map and picked well known tourist destinations coz it was easier to review or find footage? 👀

We tried Sitges for two years, beautiful yes, I but unfortunately the cost of living there was very hight, wouldn't recommend it for families.

Nerja is not on Costa Blanca. I have been in 95% of coastal towns in Spain. San Sebastien is a great city, it will definitely be in my top ten, but this is my top five :)

OK, now I understand. Instead of Malaga and Fuengirola, I would suggest you to visit Estepona and Marbella. Nerja and Frigiliana are nice authentic Andalucian style small towns. Ronda, one hour inland from Marbella, but worth seeing. Benalmadena, for nightlife. You can see the walking tours of these towns on my channel, so you can have a better idea. Except, Frigiliana, I will post a video about this town next month. I wish you nice holidays in September! :)

No, I don’t agree with your picks. You show 3 from Alicante, one from Malaga & one from Valencia, all on the Mediterranean coast. There are many other beaches thar offer as much or more than those explained. I suspect this video to be a paid advertisement for the 5 towns shown.
This video is not a paid advertisment. This video is not about best beaches, but the best coastal towns. In my opinion Mediterranean coast is the best, with fewer rainy days and wind per year and Costa Blanca and Costa del Sol are the best to move and live. Check my channel to see walking tours of many coastal towns in Spain.

The towns listed are within 527 kilometers range. This is my top 5 coastal towns after traveling al over Spain since 2015, I didn't make this video for English tourists. Thank you for your comment;
