To those who have pointed out Jeremy Cameron and Charlie Curnow; thank you! A massive oversight and Gov would be a 🔒 and Charlie a probable. Not a personal thing, just a mistake. Sorry Gov and Charles; love you!
Jeremy McGovern with 5x all Australians and being the man that made intercept marking mainstream and is still the best contested interceptor would be a lock I reckon.
Good list Daz Little to much of a premium being put on having played a premiership though. A whole team plays a premiership. Not a player (Norm Smith medals however are an individual award) Looking at stats (and also not saying either one of these guys deserves a spot higher than the other) but compare Tom Lynch and Taylor Walker. There is 2 years difference in their age. Both have 1 All australian. Both are 7 times leading goal kicker for their club. Tex has 50+ 4 times and Lynch 3 times. Their stats running on averages are very similar. And thats just a comparison i saw because its a player from my club
Here's another probable for you mate... Todd Goldstein. The most consistent Ruckman of the recent modern era. More so than Gawn. He's Syd Barker Medalist (2015), AA (2015), arguably could've been AA for 2-4 more years around the 2014-2018 periods and is also the leading Ruckman with the most hit outs in VFL/AFL history. And still playing at 36yrs of age. A Ruckman at that age. He is an absolute master of his craft and if not for Gawn and Grundy's rapid emergence we would be talking more about Goldstein. Definitely a probable Hall of Famer. Sheezel future Hall of Famer ABSOLUTELY!!! And LDU signing on at North is all I heard from that mention mate 😜😂 cause anything otherwise is scarce more quiet than a whisper of a chance of happening. Love your work as always mate!
Pretty good list but I reckon the two D's in Petracca (4 AAs and 2 BFs) and Oliver (3 AAs and 4 BFs) are booth locks for the hall. Love to see one on living blokes for Legend status, it would certainly ignite some passion. because the criteria is pretty fuzzy and even the Gods and Kings have not been elevated even though at least one legend did some time in the big house.
Scott Pendlebury, Jeremy Cameron, Patrick Dangerfield, Taylor Walker, Steele Sidebottom, Nat Fyfe, Todd Goldstein, Tom Stewart, Max Gawn, Lachie Neale, Tom Mitchell, Travis Boak, Luke Breust, Jack Gunston, Patrick Cripps, Tom Lynch, Marcus Bontempelli and Toby Greene
I think you’re the first person I’ve come across that’s also noticed Bont gets zero blame when he doesn’t show up at important times or for only one half which seems to happen often since 2021. Not that you can put it all on him because it is a team game but everyone except him cops so much criticism. Whereas if Daicos or Cripps for example have a bad game at the wrong time you won’t hear the end of it.
Toby averages 20.5 disposals and 1.5 goals over 239 games. Acting like the gap is "smoke worthy" is one way to go. Toby 3x All Australian | Tex 1 Toby 2x Best and Fairest | Tex 0 The argument for Tex is strong (7 time leading goalkicker & all-time Crows goal-kicker - albeit playing 89 more games at the time of passing Modra) The cases against are strong as well. Hence why he's in that tier of an argument both ways
Gov has 4 all Australians and the best tall back of the last 10 years in my view. I would take him every single day of the week over Steve May and Harris Andrews and that’s not slight on them.
i agree with lots of your take but a few guys you may not have thought of, Sloane, charlie cameron or Vlastin. I also have a personal hate for the way the hall of fame is set up. All you need to do is just be good. There is no reason why lenny hayes should be the hall of fame. The adjudicators need to be more strict. in my opinion you need to have done at least one of these things to be eligible won 1 flags won 1 flag as captian (for more brownie points) 1 norm smith played 250 games scored 500 goals played 100 games as a captain 1 brownlow 3 colman 5 club leading goal kicker 5 AA blazers 2 Club BNF 1 AFLPA MVP 1 AFLCA MVP Any club records (e.g most goals in club history)
Sloane missed the cutoff due to retiring, Charlie was just an oversight and Vlaustin's interesting, not sure he gets there. Vastly underrated player. I agree on the HOF eligibility though. Bit like the NBA, way too easy to get in
Maybe I look at the hall of fame to be more worthy of elite than others but I would not consider Luke Breust, Jack Gunston, Tom Lynch or Taylor Walker for the hall of fame. Just being a very good player is not enough. Tony Modra is not in the hall of fame yet and he won a Coleman, 2 x All Australian, averaged almost 4 goals a game including 129 in a season. I like Tex but his achievements don’t stack up.
I’d put Luke Breust amongst guys like Betts, Milne, B Harvey, LeCras, L Davis, Didak, C Rioli and Greene Breust is phenomenal but I’d take Lecca over him The best Medium-Small forward I’ve come across is Peter Daicos
Boomer was not a small forward and each to their own but I'm taking Punky over LeCras. Daicos the best medium forward of all time and isn't close I can't get to a place personally where Didak and Leon are better than Punky or in the same category. Like I said though, each to their own

Yeah I've owned that error. Not a "no", just completely blanked on him
Good list Daz

You’ve criminally undersold Lenny Hayes with those comparisons. Libelous!! haha
It was more for a resume comparison, Lenny's a legend

Jeremy McGovern is a lock Charlie Curnow, a one to watch. Probably needs to win one more Coleman to cement that spot.
Not current but Dave Mundy in the hof Daz? Crazy to think freo had 3 as their starting midfield for a few years
Absolutely he is
Jeremy McGovern?
Jamie Elliott And tom Michael ?

No arguments; fair enough.
That's boring Wayne-o, I need to know the mistakes 😂😂
@daztalksfooty Only thing that comes to mind is that no Collingwood, Essendon or Geelong player will ever again be inducted.😆😅😂🤣

We are on the same page my friend
Bob Skilton is in the Team of the Century and he only won like 1 finals game (correct me if I’m wrong)
You're spot on
Skilton was a 3x Brownlow Medallist too
There's no way you put Toby Greene in the category above Tex, is there? Whatever your'e smoking I want some.
Toby averages 20.5 disposals and 1.5 goals over 239 games. Acting like the gap is "smoke worthy" is one way to go.
Toby 3x All Australian | Tex 1
Toby 2x Best and Fairest | Tex 0
The argument for Tex is strong (7 time leading goalkicker & all-time Crows goal-kicker - albeit playing 89 more games at the time of passing Modra)

@@daztalksfooty You also fail to mention Tex aveages 2.3 goals a game over his carrer.
Gov has 4 all Australians and the best tall back of the last 10 years in my view. I would take him every single day of the week over Steve May and Harris Andrews and that’s not slight on them.
How the hell did I miss Jeremy McGovern? That's just a massive error
@ that makes more sense. Leaving him out on purpose would just be confusing.
i agree with lots of your take but a few guys you may not have thought of, Sloane, charlie cameron or Vlastin.

Zach Merrett lock Travis Boak probable. Sidebottom very close as well.
Zach a lock already is a bold call, I like it
Todd Goldstein, Jeremy McGovern, Charlie cameron?
Acknowledged the last two as an oversight, Goldy is as well
Harry Shezzel is the greatest player of all time 💪
We love the Cheezel

Daz mate your wrong about boak, he played in the 2007 grtand final
Sorry mate that's on me
I’d put Luke Breust amongst guys like Betts, Milne, B Harvey, LeCras, L Davis, Didak, C Rioli and Greene
Breust is phenomenal but I’d take Lecca over him

On there way
Walsh wietering
Tom Lynch but no Charlie Curnow
Yeah that's on me, simply an oversight
lol at all the people mentioning Charlie Curnow 😂 averaging 1 goal a game in finals doesn’t make you HOF status, sorry blues fans. 😂
