      ANF is awesome. I have lots of videos up from trips there. Check em out and I bet you’ll find a spot you want to go explore yourself!

    You have it all backwards on the road. It is a weight limit placed on the road to protect it from
    truck traffic .

    Your Allegany NF videos will help out a lot for planning disperse camping and trailing. Need your maps for camp sites.

      For sure. Maybe some day I’ll crest a Patreon for map sharing but for now I make sure to include the Forest Road areas so people can go explore on their own. Honestly, the surprise of finding things is the majority of the fun. I have so much mapping to do still.

    There are some designated dispersed campsites along FR130 outside Marienville that I've heard of and down along the Clarion river at Millstone and Belltown. I'm planning on doing some exploring in the ANF here soon too looking for campsites.

      Awesome! Each time I go down I'm hoping to find more. I've got about 10 marked on Gaia now after two trips. I'm heading down there in Sept for a solo one-nighter. I can't wait!

      I never realized the ANF had that much to offer in the way of dispersed camping before now... Kinda makes me wonder if it's something new they're allowing with the current overland style camping craze.

      @@justinperry9754 Dispersed camping has been allowed since the ANF came into being public land. You can camp in the recreation campsites,usually a $15 fee that offer a spacious sites with a vault toilets and showeres.There are designated(numbered)spots throughout the forest that are free with no amenities. You can also camp on public land in ANF off of forest roads that are pull off gravel lots or especially in the areas where the gas extractions/logging have taken place that offer a lot of empty lots that were used by the gas companies for staging lots(equipment and vehicles).

      @@bobfidguello7239 Ah cool! Guess I just never realized there were so many spots u could camp in the ANF. I've always heard that camping was frowned upon and the rangers would actually kick u out of a spot if they found u camping.

      @@justinperry9754 I'm currently camping in one of my favorite spots in my converted school bus in the ANF. I've ran into many rangers as they get calls of a 38' school bus is seen in the forest, however they tell us to enjoy the forest as we follow all dispersed rules. The ANF is owned by the taxpayers,yes there is private property in the ANF but the public land is there to serve those who own it.

    Awesome video! Loved that you label all the trails, I’m just getting into overland camping and only video 30 mins from the ANF and was wondering if you think that these forest roads would be a good spot to test my tent and gear. Also wondering where you found the map to see all these roads.

    • @DarksideOffRoad
      @DarksideOffRoad  2 роки тому +1

      Hey! There are maps online provided by the forest service and I used those alongside Gaia’s map layers to plot possible trails to explore.

    I'm trying to find ur route cuz I really like that camp spot on 187b. Where did u originally start from to get on 150? Looking on gaia I'm having a hard time finding it. Ur later vid w the other jeep I tried that route and alot of the rds u took were gated when I went

    • @DarksideOffRoad
      @DarksideOffRoad  3 роки тому +1

      Bummer! they might've closed some because of the early August rain, I'm not sure how seasonality plays into it. The open campsites area is about a .5mi from the intersection of 150/279/187 on the 187 side before you hit 318. If you look on Gaia on the USFS2016 layer you'll see a little off shoot that goes to the sites. It's wide open in there and there were about 2-3 fire pits in different spots.

      @@derekcarlson500 we started from the reservoir side. You could potentially take 278 to 318 to 187 if the gates are open as well.

      If heading southbound from Bradford on 219, turn onto Mead Run Rd. (Aka FR 279. If you come to Lantz Corners you went too far.) This will take you west and you will come to a 4-way stop (where 279 intersects 187). Take a right (north) and the spot will be on your right.
