If the town was named after Ngige, then it would have been called Kwa Ngige unless it was named in reference to his wife or other immediate family members.

His family had been kicked out of the modern day Karen area and his father unalived by mzungus. His mother and two brothers came all the way to seek refuge at Kiawanugu area where they were welcomed by fellow Ndorobos who lived there. They worked hard making and selling of their handcrafts as they were very talented craftsmen and exchanged for goats the medium of exchange for that time. With time his heard grew big enough and he exchanged it for the land we are currently settled in.
