    I agree with your analysis. It is heartbreaking to see such talented sewists just not finish. I agree with the other comment that cutting should be separate from the timed pattern challenge. Time management is not really part of sewing just part of competition and I'd rather see the best sewing skill with some nice garments.

      I agree Kathy. I think I’d hate to be a novice and think it all has to be a race against time. Slow sewing is beautiful and mindful, we are not fast fashion 😊

    Completely agree with you re garment of the week and pretty much everything else you said. 😊. Some brilliant sewers again and all so brave to subject themselves to all that pressure for the sake of telly!!!! Love your round up. Thank you. 😊 Lynne

    I loved the almost ‘ return to basics’ theme on this week’s sewing bee 😊 Some of the way out and weird challenges on recent series I’ve found a bit hard to imagine duplicating in ‘real life’! Having said that, I always enjoy the programme and wouldn’t miss it. Should I confess to having watched all the previous series more than once on the iPlayer? 😂

      Comfort TV Alison! I guess they’ve got to constantly come up with something new for the format each year - it must be a challenge! Xx

    I think editing is a big factor because they can only show so much and they do focus on the mistakes more than the good makes, because it makes better tele. I was thinking the same thing about the top stitching. I always use normal thread in my spool and it's easier to switch between top stitching and normal threads. That puppet though! It was scary, good job it's on after the watershed. 😅

      Definitely this Annette. They’re not going to show much of interest filming someone breezing through it with no issues 😅 the puppet was err, unusual 🤣🤣

    I really loved the early series with May presenting. It's getting less about sewing now and I felt that the button up skirt was chosen so that the contestants messed up as there wasn't enough time to sew it. I would like every week for Esme and Patrick to take turns joining in and sewing the pattern challenge with the contestants

    Suzies' dress was a pattern by Gracie Steele, a young Australian pattern designer. I think it's called the frolic dress

    Great vlog as always totally agree if the finished garments were all perfect it wouldn’t be as good a watch ❤❤

      Thanks Linda, yeah it would be a bit dull I suppose if there were 12 perfect garments! It’s a tough one to balance for the producers xx

    Many many years ago I did needlework o level, we were given separate cutting out time, I think this would be a good idea for the program. Then at least they have the time to sew. I don’t like the transformation challenge either. ❤

      Yes I’d agree with you there! To be fair they do do that on the later made to measures usually xx

    Agree about garment of the week. And about entering the competition, it doesn't appeal at all. I enjoy taking my time. If I have to rush it removes all enjoyment! 😊❤

      Absolutely! Utmost of respect to those who enter but I’d literally rather stick pins in my eyes 🤣

    I think they deliberately limit the time to put the contestants under pressure. That causes them to make mistakes, and make what the programme-makers consider more interesting television. It is not just about good sewists making good garments. They are trying to do different things each series, and keep viewing figures up.

    • @JennyStitchesFabrics
      @JennyStitchesFabrics  3 місяці тому +1

      Yes I think you’re right. I don’t think we have to agree with it as Sewists but I can see how/why it comes about. It’s not fair on them really but I think we’ve got to be cynical about the realities of TV sometimes!
