    I actually made a denim pen similar to this. Turned in yellow and orange tamerand and turned out nice. Thanks for the idea.

    Hi Bob. Super result. How do you change the refil if you glue the brads tube in place as per usual....maybe i ve missed something 😅

    • @RJBWoodTurner
      @RJBWoodTurner  Рік тому

      You only glue the back tube in. The front tube and transmission are pressed into the lower tube. The transmission pressure fits into the back tube and holds it all together.
      Regards,
      Bob

      Hi Bob. Many thanks for such a rapid reply. It seems very obvious now😅. That familiar itch inside...im going to give it a go. I did your piano Pen for m'y wife. It Split along thé piano Key axis (perpendicular to pen axis) After a few months. Might try it again with timber rather than plastic.

    Hello Bob,
    I believe you've conceived the perfect "back to school" blank there, that's killer! Wonder if you couldn't cut the top 2" off and save the cap end as-is, then use your parting tool to shave the top 1/4" of wood off the other end and drizzle thin CA down the outside of the tube to finish bonding the bottom and sand it clean? That would still make a mighty fine conventional slimline. Gotta talk to you about this dreaming away summer thing though, I'm still looking forward to my regularly scheduled springtime allergy attack! :~)
    Have a great summer!!!

      Great to hear from you. I've had several people send my ideas on how to fix the pen. I'm thinking I need to attempt it and video what I try. I like your suggestion and am starting to believe there has to be a solution in there somewhere.

    That's a great looking pen, Bob. Surely there has to be a way to fix it. Could you measure the tube length, cut the pen, and put in a trim ring...just like a normal Slimline? Just wondering.....

    Bob, can you heat it? you know heat up the brass tube just enough to get the ca to let loose. use your soldering iron to heat up the inside of the tube it should turn loose of the CA glue

    Excellent as always Bob! Certainly many pen kits would complement the blanks you turn, but since you're so good at selecting a good combination, it would give us a good starting point if you could add the name of the pen kit to the video description. I realize though that many times you specifically state it in the video itself. Just a thought. Thanks for keeping us motivated!

    Hey Buddy, Nice Blank!!!!! Do you think it would be possible to just shorten the blank? Just a bit to cut off the very small spot you glued. I really dont know how far down you had to glue so it my not work but just a thought. I could be way off here but IDK. or cut it back far enough to add a contrasting wood ring? I just hate to see that beautiful blank not become a pen lol and I know you do also. Good luck pal I hope you find a solution if not it still looks great.
