The Best funky I have ever heard
Mother Popcorn the 45 record cost me 75 cents in 1969 which my father paid the bill.
The Funkiest Man on the Planet and the Band is the Funkiest Band on The Planet. Period!!!!!!!!
That was bad man! that was bad bad brother! Reminds me of back in 1969 when I saw James Brown live at Watts park! That show is off the hook! I was so excited that I cried seeing Soul brother #1 on stage for the first time in my life!! I was told not to go. I snuck out the window and went anyway! I was only 12 years old. And I got a beating when I get back home! And after I got the whipping she sent me down and wanted to know about the show for crying out loud! 😂❤️🎶🎶🎶❤️
😄👍
The J.B.'S were bringing
down the house!
Crisp Clear Soulful and Funky!!!
Song is rentless from the first note, BOOM 😁 👍
I think the sixties band was the baddest and tightest he had. Not taking anything away from Booty and the fellows. But Nat Jones, Maceo, Clyde, Jabo, Pee Wee, St.Clair, Fred and all the rest of the fellows. Man if that band had stayed together they would've been one helluva band for many years. I ' m saying band, orchestra because he had instrument with him that other artists didn't have in their band, violins for instance. The Godfather could've made it with just that bad ass band or orchestra. No one could have touched them they were so tight and together.
I used to prefer the mid 70's band, more based on the songs churned out. No doubt the 60's band was the tightest and produced the best sound by far, shame JB never looked after his band members, totally agree with your comment 👍.
@@SoulOnTopJB JUST LISTEN TO THE BAND THAT PLAYED ON THAT BAD ASSSSSSS, NEVER RELEASED, "LIVE AT THE NEWPORT JAZZ FESTIVAL 1969"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOW, THIS JB BAND WAS THE NASTIEST, SMOK'IN, BAND. I GOT TO SEE MAN MANY TIMES BETWEEN 1963-LATE 70S, AND EVERY BAND WAS FUNKY AS YOU WANNA BE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
JB and his band are absolutely amazing! The tightness is unrivaled. (Mic dropped)
Hitting Hard on THE ONE! POPCORN HEY!
👍
Outstanding! July 6, 1969, Newport Jazz Festival, Newport, RI
Yes you are correct, I removed the interlude to make one single 11 min track 😉
@@SoulOnTopJB he performed it alot longer in newport than the augusta 69 show. And the released live version was edited before a compilation called foundations of funk. Later and a couple years ago the complete 69 augusta show was released.
Super Dynamite soul!!!!! ♥️🤜🏾🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🤛🏼❤️
Get goin’ yo 🤘🤘
👍
1969, right?
Yep
Jb did do a tv talk show Or 3 performing mother popcorn. This is the newport 69 version available on import and some bootlegs. The audio of the newport 69 show is clear and is on youtube. He released the official live version on sex machine live. The album was heavily edited with studio tracks. but a few years ago the complete 69 augusta show uncut was released on james brown live at home in augusta ga. .
I thought all the CD's copies of the Newport gig which are available are bootlegs.
@@SoulOnTopJB depend on the retailer or where you bought it. Did you buy it on the street? Download it or buy it at an actual cd store? Ike dyson has posted it and christian mcbride was very aware of it. Christian mcbride is a historian and jazz musician. he sometimes comments to social media fans. But i never seen it here where im from to own a copy.
@@Neosoulgroovydude Downloaded my copy, the CD versions which I've seen are basically bootlegs burnt to CD, correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I'm aware they are no official releases, i.e released via a record company label. I've seen this and other concert bootlegs for sale on Japanese and Canadian web-sites, the sound quality is no better than a download.
@@SoulOnTopJB i have soul on top cd reissue with the 2 bonus tracks. Has the only studio version of there was a time that wasnt on original album. Some the songs, papa, are longer than the lp version. Mcbride did get it together on a album. Jb kinda joked with him about it. The bus tour spoof has a moment jb downrated him, typical story of his former band members. Like some the smash records jb albums, The jb lp that is out of print even on repress is nothing but soul. Its highlight is getting a lil hipper. Which is a speeded up instrumental. Version of get it together , like what mcbride would cover years later.
@@Neosoulgroovydude when remembered well it was around 2007 ,that Wolfgangsvault was the Very First who had the JB newport jazz on line for sale at that time for 10$..at that time ive downloaded the show in whole ....(these days yust 5$) Several Years !!!! Later it popped up on other sites ...but Wolfgangsvault was the Very first source ...
