It's always great to hear good lyrical and melodic content from pop music transposed into other genre styling, because the original content was always great at it's core, and doing it in a real artistic way not just a most commercially profitable way makes it all the more better than it already was, because music produced to be as commercially profitable obviously is made well in the very least by industry professional with solid skills.
What really kills electronic music is when people start producing cheap generic snippet versions of it to be used explicitly for commercials and such, where you can tell the instrument is a generic not special preset not changed to be unique at all and the music content is just ripping off of some popular trend and is not actually creative in any way on its' own.
Let's face it, there is a lot of music in every genre that sounds very similar to other music in the genre, but there are still plenty of ways to be unique and individual and cultivate a recognizable sound to the point where people know it's from a certain artist as soon as they hear it.
