I didn't look to see which ones was actually which, but listening on super cheap (airplane quality) headphones I can tell which is which. A is analogue and B is digital. I hear a lot of the same (often harsher) frequencies in B, which is the tint a computer processor gives to the audio signal. It sounds like it's shoving the sounds into a box. A, in every instance, has complete life and breathing that isn't limited or boxed in by computer processing. A sound I've heard on many top records. Night and day to my trained ears.

Just watched the reveal. I guess I am used to A and B staying the same throughout on tests like this haha. I seemed to liked A on every test. I'm just going to leave my honest belief here as a relic. Lol

Haha 😆 kudos for this. Love it.
I truly almost messed with people even further by taking a few of them and doing the same exact signal for A & B a few times.
I mean. It’s so painful close these days.
The most important thing is the song, the arrangement and the energy from the performance.
      Everything else is semantics.
In some situations, the hardware is more pleasing, in others the software is.
Truly, it’s basically like saying, this dodge truck works better to carry heavy equipment than this ford.
They both get the job done and maybe there is a feature of one that works better in a specific situation, but… if the shit you’re hauling isn’t good anyway… what’s the point. Everything is just a tool. Use them that way and create something good!
      Cheers!

B, B, B, A, B, B. Pure personal preference. The drums just jump at you, and the acoustic guitars sound rounder with more body that I tend to gravitate towards.

For the drums i like A because its more squeezed and clean i guess it’s because of the faster attack and release on compression.

analog b,b,b,b,b the b vocal is run through some analog gear. I use a little of both so, I can hear what makes the difference. Analog will raise whatever noise floor.

B,B,B,A,A,B….. The fact that the comments are so inconsistent says a lot. I am an artist building a studio now debating this very thing. Is it worth the extra money for analog. I love analog, I have a vast record collection, I dig the tone. Analog has its drawbacks, it’s faults. Purists will fight to death on this topic and I can appreciate it. The fact is that technology has gotten so close and it’s only going to get better. Great video!!! Keep doin your thing 🤘

      It’s been fun.

Drums - A sounds more compressed, B is more open sounding
Guitar 1 - B has a bit of an odd gated thing in the beginning
Guitar 2 - not a huge preference or difference
Bass - I like the top end and clarity of B slightly better
E Guitar - A sounds more processed or produced, B a bit more of a raw track. Either could be nice depending on the context
Vocals - I prefer B which seems to breakup a bit more during the louder sections.
Two items of note, the part becomes more familiar and you know what you are about to hear which can favor B. I also wonder if I hear less of a difference as they get compressed in youtube. Listening on my fairly new to me Audeze LCD X. Will give a listen on speakers later when the family is awake and reply if my mind changes significantly.

Me too. I’m happy to commit my thoughts knowing I could well be favoring the Behringer gear😂. Watched the Millsound comparison of UAD v the API box II. Bottom line I’m very happy to be all in on UA, filling those empty rack spaces with hardware has lost its luster just work.

loved first three Bs best, then i hated both bass tones. Guitar I preferred A, but I could see B sitting in mix depending on the other instruments. Vocals I hate that country jesus rock shite, but I think the tonal quality was more warm / pleasing on A, but Listening on Adam a7v's thru universal audio arrow.

Analog: B and like it better.
Now the caveat is that you can make analog sound bad and digital sound good, especially with same settings on UAD API 2500 and the hardware. It just depends on how you use them. But in B I an the snare splat.
    Acoustic: B, more open feeling
Acoustic 2: A sounds better, B is distorted. I don't know which is analog.
Bass: I don't know, both sound fine. A sounds like Hi-Z
Eiec: too many questions and honestly its hard to answer them because all the tracks are in solo. B has more emotion, but also more noise. I think B would work better in a mix.
Vocal: Both sound over-processed. Is there pitch correction? Not a fan of pitch correction. B sounds better

I wanted to film the follow up video last week, but my camera went down. So I’m kind of waiting.
But I’m super excited to share the results. This comment rocks though.
And yeah there is some tuning on the vocal, but the digital sound of it is actually because of adat! Which is weird as shit.
I don’t like the side effects of it.

@@TheSteveKinney I think I see what you're doing and it's an ingenious way to get shootout opinions. Sorry for my typos. "But in B I an the snare splat." I mean "I can hear the snare splat." Of course I can't really tell which is analog and which is UAD. I can only tell you which sounds closer to my usage of the hardware in my studio (2500+) and my usage of the UAD counterpart.

@@TheSteveKinney My thought was that you made the video to get opinions on which sounds better. I only think that because I personally spend hours A/B ing different compressors.
      Every day.
You can't ask the artists because at best they're stuck in the same spot and at worst they're thinking, "Why doesn't the engineer know that they're doing??"
