I have the same problem with my truck. No shop nor dealership will touch it. As sad as this sounds I’m a HD diesel mechanic and this is such a strange engine. And I wish I had somewhere I could lift my body off to so my egr needs a turbo some other things that I wish I could legally delete. I’m very done with ram and the way the epa is pushing the new emission bull! I feel your pain brother. Just broke 100k miles. Bought the truck with a P0299 and ram says it’s a common Chrysler code that no one knows what it means.
I understand for sure. It's a strange engine indeed with a lot of design flaws. I bought mine new and had the first cel at 26000 miles and there were problems right up until I traded it in with 90K on it. I'd call FCA about the egr. Many of these trucks have the egr cooler recall and they helped me find a willing dealer. The P0299 is turbo underboost. It's often caused by the map sensor. I had that code a few times and when I checked it, the map sensor probe was melted off. Got one on Amazon and the problem was solved. The problem with this code is it forces the turbo to disable then the underboost code appears when the turbo isn't at all at fault. Very misleading as far as diagnostics go. Hope you get it straightened out, they're a great truck/engine combo when the are working correctly.
@@68-72mmALKYstyle First thing I would check is the coolant temp sensor that controls the fan. Second thing is the fan control module. Hard to say without being able to diag the problem myself but most likely one of those two are at fault.
I'd call FCA asap. 1-800-334-9200. If you're the original owner I'd request a buy-back. I'm the original owner of mine and they told me I qualified for a buy-back but I like the stupid truck so much, I gave them 1 last shot at making the truck right, and so far, it's been perfect. I know your pain, it sucks. Best luck.
@@SteeveeDan I would of gotten rid of it. The labor to fix things on these motors is through the roof and most honest techs don't want to work on them. They are almost deliberately designed to be a nightmare to work on.
@@JrSpitty Since I've gotten it back the final time it's been flawless but I know it won't last too long! I'm actually getting ready to list it for sale as soon as the fuel pump recall is sorted out. I want an older 2500 Cummins with a manual trans, something a bit less challenging to work on.
I have a 2017 Big Horn ram 1500 eco-diesel I’ve only had an a month no signs of anything wrong with it and I was driving to work and it shuts off and I can’t get it back to crank almost like it’s out of diesel but I just put $65 worth of diesel in it and it can I keep DEF in it what do you guys think the problem is
Dealers are suppose to fix that and agm battery needs be put on charger once a year? At least altnator does not charge agm batteries correctly or at all
I had to buy it, $259.00 installed I believe. I know the glass mats don't really like being overcharged but mine never was. They say they only last 3 or 4 years anyway so mine was close to that.
Mines gone almost a year now. Traded it in for a Hemi Rebel while the eco was running good. Almost felt guilty about what the next owner would go through.

EVER HAVE COOLING FAN ISSUES and NOT COMING ON. Works on LOW when put on defrost or A/C
It only comes on at low speed only when selecting DEFROST or A/C
WONT COME ON ON ITS OWN and Truck OVERHEATS.. help…

My 2018 Ecodiesel been off the road about nine months. So I’m just as disappointed as you are. At 59k, my repairs is going on 17k, unbelievable.

Same shit! On top of it all they are discontinuing the eco-diesel as of January 2023WTF! Why is it that we the people always have to pay the price!

If I remember correctly, it was around 78K, definitely under 80k at the time though.
